Shawn, that was an amazing video. The history behind that site was very interesting. Thanks for taking us along with you on this journey, it was most enjoyable. Great finds for sure. Happy Treasure Hunting!!
Thanks for another great adventure guys! It was super interesting knowing about the folks who settled here on this farm site, and that he was a hero from the civil war. I appreciate your sharing this story with us!
WOW!!!!!!! That was amazing, Shawn!!!!!!! Knowing the story of the people who lived there adds so much to the experience. Absolutely incredible job, Shawn, Thank You so much!!!💖💖
Shawn, Love your and Jerry’s content on your new endeavors! Knowing the backstory and history behind the sites always make the recoveries that much more meaningful. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the compliment. We do plan on returning to this site next time we are in that area. Surely more to find. Also, thanks for watching as always. Glad to have you here!
Knowing the history to the items found makes the hunt much more personal and rewarding. Thanks😊. I was thinking the second find looked like the Pennsylvania Keystone🤷♀️. Just my first thought when I seen it.
Enjoying the channel and how it is evolving. Loved the opener. You're right, knowing the history makes those finds just that more special. Looking forward to the upcoming episodes. Jeff
Thanks Jeff! We knew our channel would evolve over time. Hopefully, as we grow we can get some more professional filming gear etc to continue to improve.
THIS video is why I started watching your channel years ago. I’m so happy to see the historical storytelling along with metal detecting cellerholes along with Pennsylvania scenery. Three of my favorite things. I started detecting northwestern Pennsylvania cellerholes in 2007. If you’re ever in our area, my husband and I would gladly meet up with you.
Hey Shawn, phenomenal work on the intro and storytelling! You are truly honoring the Shoemaker's memory. Incredible finds and love watching your new content. Cheers!
The opening of the video was great. It set the story visually. And we then can imagine how things must have been back then. Always wonder what they were doing at the time when they dropped the large cent. Geat video!
Great video, Shawn. I agree, it does make it a little more special when you know the names and stories behind the sites. Keep up the great work - can’t wait until next Saturday.
Jerry and I are both really digging into the local history to try and find stories for most sites we go to. Some sites don’t always have stories that we can find, at least not always action packed. But we are really trying hard to dig deep. Thanks for watching! 😁
To me the best part about metal detecting is being transported back to a simpler time and wondering if the item you just found could talk what story would it tell. When I can’t be out detecting I always look forward to seeing your videos. Keep saving history and telling the story of our great past and ancestors.
That was beautiful, Shawn!!! Somewhere between a documentary & an awesome metal detecting video. Wonderful job, really, BRAVO!!!!!!! Thank you, I love your work 💖@@detectingpa8968
Great job, you went above and beyond , and it really shows. Congratulations on the findings of items , and personal history of the areas you have to search. Much enjoyed once again from Southwest Tn.
Wow!!! The opening made the hairs on my neck stand up! That was amazing! We have found those same underwear buttons next to 1800’s cellar holes and in the same hole as a 1820’s NAVY button so I definitely think is it period to the family. You found some great relics to relate to your story, I hope you make a nice display with it all together. Awesome, awesome video! Fantastic job!
We really appreciate that feedback. We are not professionals by any means. lol. We are just hoping to tell the stories of the people that once inhabited these spots.
This was amazing. You did a fantastic job. i have 2 Great great great uncles who died in the Civil war. How sad what it caused. Samuel was also newly married. She was a very tough woman. Shawn, you seem to be the thimbo king. This one cleaned up looks to be almost a pretty as the one you found several years ago. God bless Nora
Thank you. We appreciate that. Hard to believe you can remember that silver thimble (assuming that’s the one)! This one wasn’t silver but it held a more meaningful story.
@@detectingpa8968in my opinion you have ownership of the most beautiful thimbo ever made. I owned my great grandmother's thimbo. Plain except gold, bottom engraved with her name. That was a weight you found. Very awesome digs today. I hope you'll return to this site I think there is lots more awaiting you. Take care Nora.
We do plan on going back to this site when we get in that same area again. That thimble you have must be beautiful. Plus like the one in this video, it holds a story for you which makes it even better!
Definitely one of the most interesting times in our nations history. Thanks as always for watching Charley! Enjoy seeing you on the Quarter after show! 😁
Amazing job giving us the history in this video then bringing us to the homestead site.Im sure you found original relics of the inhabitants. There’s a chance the cabin was used later for others but was then lost to the elements. That item may have been a lightening arrestor mounted atop the cabin at one time.Im sure if you clear those downed trees within the cabin foundation you will find many more interesting things. Thanks
Thank you for the amazing comment! The cellar hole was filled in with stones as well. I’m sure there are hidden items under it all. Might be buried in the ground forever. We do plan on a return visit to that site.
IMHO you nailed it not only with the finds but just the whole video. After the history I was in and rooting for ya better than at a championship tournament.Definitely brought a solid appreciation for the items you located.
Wow! We definitely appreciate that comment! If only we could find history of the individuals of every homesite. But I guess then it wouldn’t be as special. Thanks for watching!!!! 😁
Good morning, i love your story telling and how you take care of your finds keep up the amazing work that you do, take care and God bless, lots of love from my family to yours from West Virginia ❤️🙂
Thanks Trish! If we can tell the story or even learn the story of the original owners of that homesite makes each find that much more special. Thanks for coming along as always!
Hey Shawn, great editing and storyline at the beginning. Nice large cent, thimbles and crotal bell. I found that same lighting rod when we were together. Have a great weekend my friend.
Thank You Shawn ! That was an amazing walk through history with you . Nice large cent ( I still haven't found one- yet) I love your channel , keep em coming !☕☕Gregory.
Thanks Gregory! We have definitely been on a roll with the large cents lately. They always say that research pays off in this hobby and that’s pretty true. Try to find those old sites and you’ll for sure dig yourself a largie. Thanks for the compliment as well. It makes our hard work worth it. 😁 Hope to see you next week. Oh- and be sure to swing by Wednesday evening as well! Hint, hint! lol
We won’t even tell you how many we have then. 😬 lol. You must have the massive bells around you as they seem to always be the ones that are broken. 😪 You’ll get into them. They are streaky finds. Sometimes we go long stretches without one and then other times we pull one out every hunt. Thanks for tuning in!
Yeah they are large, the best I’ve found is a straight in half. The small ones are sick!. Much prefer the smaller ones so intricate and usually ornate. Dude I see people selling a few real deal on eBay for cheap? crazy. I don’t sell I keep my finds, On mercari I see nice fully intact with teeth 1700’s shoe buckle sets for $15. Seller says ? Hum old boot buckles?. They don’t know what they have and practically giving relics away. I have to find for myself makes it more tangible. I can just imagine your collection gotta be really nice!.
@@detectingpa8968 ? Wow I’d be embarrassed to ask for someone to sell to me. Metal detecting to me isn’t just about the finds it’s also a journey. The search, the disappointments and exhalations of THE FIND. Guy must of thought the item he wanted you to sell him was worth quite a bit of $$?. I’m sure there are collectors out there who search us out looking for high price resale items. Have you checked out Smoky Mountain Relic Room on TH-cam? Check them out dude you’ll be amazed with what they have and where they get from. Thanks for your time nice conversation I enjoyed. ✌🏻…
Could you give some info. on program you are using? This will help beginners on their detecting journey. Thank you. Really enjoy your videos. Watching from Canada.
Thanks! Sure. Shawn runs the general mode with a few tweaks. He bumps the sensitivity to 90, and discrimination to 20. He also turns the iron volume down to almost a faint whisper. He then saves it as setting 16 so it’s on when the detector gets powered up. Jerry runs the fast mode. Not sure if he tweaks it any or not. Both programs do well. My suggestion? Find which mode sounds best to you, and then tweak it to your liking from there and then save the program. 😁
