Man great story. It shows that research pays off. I would suggest you to consider carrying a nylon brush to clear your finds from dirt rather than rubbing them on your pants or with your fingers. Also, a small atomizer with water would also be helpful. The tombac button shank broke for that reason. A little bit of water and softly brushing off the dirt would've helped.

I don’t know much about native artifacts but the tinkler cones I have seen look like the sharp tip is cut off so they can tie it to their dress. The ones we found were very sharp and rigid. With no way to fasten them other than to a shaft.

You might want to register your finds with your historical society. Watched Quarter Hoarders and saw American Digger editor. He mentioned submitting items and stories for the What Is It page. Your videos on this historic site just might make it to the top of the list! Emphasis on coins is great, but artifacts add more meat to bone. Be safe out there.😊

That is a fascinating site, far more "unusual" finds than at a homestead. The item that was sticking up from the ground was spindle-like, but I have no good idea of its purpose. However, I do think some of the items are industrial revolution-era. Is the site actually next to the river?
Yes, it’s along the river(you can see the river behind me in some of the clips). There was an early settlement there that was gone in the 1870s as evidence nothing being there on the 1870s map but there was a salt works, post office, and coal works there on the 1860s map. From our research the town was established sometime around 1840s. The Indian artifacts would suggest there was an Indian village or trading post there prior to the establishment of the small town.
And the site of the story was just a few miles below this spot so it’s very possible that the attack could have been launched from this spot when it was an Indian village.
Man I really love watching you get history back into 2024 from early days before and after wars.im adicted i wou;ld give my legs and arm jus to be metal det with you and friend I jus wish your videos be 35 mins long .the excitement is over welming see my past fam is from 800s to the 1894 era to 1920s .Yes going there :) I am stuck with being TTI severe brain damaged with alot of medical problems plus Valentines was in hospital had 3 back to back siezers ok the doc said plainly i had 2 weeks to go to live. Brain infection, blood poising , UTTI as bad as i am head injurd these do occur a few times in a lifetime i get that !@ so im thankful everyday i am living to type to my friends and family. My backyard is full of history back into the late 1900s .40 or 48 acres i would need help see my husband cannot have a metal detector he has a chip in his chest n the prices dam noway i can afford that .

Possible. I have dug many watches and something is different about this. It was smaller than any typical one that I have ever dug. It’s possible though

I think that round ball you found was a musket ball from an Indian musket. Some of the early Indians got their muskets from the French. Since lead was scarce in that time, the Indians were given muskets made for smaller round balls. Anything .36 or smaller was most likely buck shot. .375 was typical Indian ammo. Don’t quote me. Lol. Thanks for the adventure.

Using alcohol in a sprat bottle will better. Will dry faster.

I think that’s around 430 US Dollars. I’d go with the Garrett brand. Especially if you’re just starting out.
