  • The Federation Starship Voyager is flung over 70 thousand light years away from home into the Delta Quandrant. Voyager's crew have no way of quickly returning home back to the Alpha Quadrant. So they must now begin their very long and dangerous journey for home.
    During their journey, Voyager finds a way to teleport the holographic doctor all the way to the Alpha Quadrant in order to communicate with Starfleet. Later on, Voyager (with the help of Lieutenant Barclay) is able to briefly establish two-way communication with Starfleet. And then finally, Voyager is able to use one of the Borg's transwarp hubs to travel back to the Alpha Quadrant, destroying the hub in the process and crippling the Borg's ability to instantly travel across the galaxy in order to find others to assimilate and conquer.
    After 7 long years, Voyager and it's crew finally make it back Home.

    A lot of people don't like that they kinda just used the future Janeway to buff voyager and get it home quick, but if you consider Janeway as a person it makes a lot of sense. She is determined and resourceful, but often takes it to the extreme and refuses to give up, for example in the year of hell where she could have turned around after the first Krenim attacks and gone around but chose to smash her head into that wall and it cost her dearly. In this case it was Seven's death that she couldn't let go of and so she did some crazy dumb and illegal stuff to change that, and even if it wasn't Seven it statistically would have been someone else she cared about. Maybe it was a little rushed but I feel like there wasn't much of a way to do that storyline in a way that didn't feel rushed, besides doing a DS9 8-episode finale type of thing. However you feel about the ending, badass armored voyager smashing through the borg to get home in one desperate attempt and arriving to a small fleet as a greeting party is such a feel-good ending for trek nerds. This show was easily my favorite and sadly marked the end of decent trek.

      You and me both. Voyager was an awesome show, and Janeway was a great captain. I really do miss this show. At least we got to see Seven of Nine in ST Picard. I still would like to know what happened to the rest of the crew once they got back to Earth. Maybe some day, they’ll continue the Voyager story. I’d really like that.

    • @liljanasufaj4130
      @liljanasufaj4130 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Child of the 80s I have read the novel after they get back to Earth. According to the novel, Janeway and Chakotay were living together( they had already slept together once when they were alone on that planet while on Voyager. After living a year together, admiral Janeway goes on a mission and sacrifices herself to the Borg, living Chakotay in pain......
      Apparently, Janeway returns later with the help of Q - (from what I heard, I don't know if that is true).
      That's all I know.
      It could have been nicer if we could have seen what happened to them on the big screen.

    • @childofthe80sYT
      @childofthe80sYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Liljana Sufaj wow thank you so much for the update. I assumed Chakotay would've still been with Seven of Nine and Janeway would've reunited with her boyfriend from before they were sent to the Delta Quadrant. Guess I was wrong. And me too, it would've been nice to give Voyager an actual movie, like they've done for the original ST and for Next Gen. I've heard whisperings of a Voyager reunion, but they've been saying that for years. Thanks so much for your comments.

    • @liljanasufaj4130
      @liljanasufaj4130 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Child of the 80s You are welcome! Seven and Chakotay were never meant to be together in the book. That was just a trill of Seven ( the actress who was the girlfriend of the producer to pair her up with Chakotay at the end of Season 7 on Voyager).
      On the other hand, between Chakotay and Janeway, there was always a special spark that they tried to hide it( remember Chakotay getting very jealous of Q when he wanted to mate with Janeway).
      They slept together only once when they were alone on the planet, but because she was the Captain, when they returned back to Voyager, she couldn't do that anymore......
      So, Chakotay, after getting together with Seven in the end, when they return home, he split up with her and get together with Kathryn. Janeway becomes an admiral and the Most Decorated Officer in Starfleet History. She carries on with Starfleet, while Chakotay returns into teaching Antropology in schools.

    Something that annoys me about the scene where The Doctor is downloaded to The Prometheus, his mobile emitter is downloaded as well. Yet it's gone when he gets there. I also never really realized the significance of Chakotay piloting Voyager until seeing this. He was a Maquis criminal who was trying to get away from Starfleet, now he's flying right towards them, doing a victory lap over Earth.

    The crew and Janeway will both be thoroughly debriefed over what happened during those past 7 years. The information gained from the interviews will be used to build a picture of the delta quadrant,new training syllabus and possibly new tactics. The Delta flyer was designed during the journey and used for survey,research and tactical rescue. It will now be taken and properly tested.
    New aircraft normally spend several months in the research and development stage and then 3-5 years of testing minimum before being certified fit for purpose.

    I always felt like many of the *concepts* in the ending were actually pretty good, and upgraded Voyager looked visually stunning, but the ending itself was rushed and weakly executed. If they'd have had a season of Voyager basing itself from one region of space while they built up for the final fight I think it would've potentially been amazing, and I wish they'd have found a way to do it without dipping into the timeline bending stuff too, it cheapened the ending a bit for me

  • @deathstrike
    @deathstrike 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    There would have potentially another way to get Voyager home even faster, but it would have been MUCH riskier. That would have been to force the warp engines to just below the speed of light, say .9999c and use time dilation to compress the 70 thousand year journey to a mere few years aboard the ship. Then use the original Enterprise and Spock's "slingshot" equations to thrust them back in time to when they original left. Like in TOS when they intercepted Gary Seven and a nuclear missile launch in the 1960s.
    Not to mention that they could have seen what the Federation (if it survived) might have looked like in 70 thousand years. At that point, their might have been ultra advanced technology to simply send them back to their appropriate timeframe. Another idea would have been to construct stasis pods for the crew, use copies of the EMH modified for specialized tasks and work duties, and allow the holograms to run the ship for the 75 year journey back. The crew sleeps, and the holograms (perhaps even androids) would operate and repair the ship for the entire journey. That would have been the most practical, and despite 75 years later, Janeway and her crew would still easily fit in the new century.

      Same here. Everything after Enterprise has been nothing but woke rubbish with loads of misandry. Thing is, there was never any misogyny in the original Star Trek, Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager or Enterprise, yet for some reason they deliberately incorporated feminism, misandry and sjw diatribe into both Picard and Discovery. Because of that I decided I was completely done with Star Trek. If they did away with that garbage in Strange New Worlds then I'll have to take your word for it but I have no interest in seeing it because IMO their prior writing ruined this franchise for so many fans. I'll always watch ToS thru Enterprise but I have NO interest in watching anything beyond that because of their wokeness.
