Thanks, this is great! I'm wondering though, could you not just buy the wooden canvas bars instead of a finished canvas and mount the paper on them?? Think it would be the same process, but even a little cheaper?
The canvas is gessoed which protects the paper from pH issues, and it also adds another degree of strength - you can get gessoed canvases on sale usually - very affordable!
I think so! Never tried but I don't see why not.. the main thing is not to pull too tight cause you might warp it... With large canvases I have to screw steel angles on each corner to prevent that.
@@TheNetflyer Thank you so much for this video!! Can you explain the steel angles more? Are they screwed to the frame/paper that is facing the wall on the frame (as a reinforcement?) after the paper is stretched?
@@TheNetflyer I think people tend to mount finished works on wood panel, or mount on the front of a cradled panel with archival pva then coat with wax medium. There are videos on it.
Fabulous idea! This is great for shows and for multiple paintings for guild sales and I can wax my works without framing. Thanks!!
thank you for sharing, it looks like a good idea and I will try it
Oh right, that makes sense! Thanks.
Excellent!!!
Any issues like mold with this when working very wet? Ever put pva on the canvas?
Will this keep the paper stretched during the paint or should I wet the paper before wrapping it?

You can, I've seen folks do that, I just haven't tried it. This cost about $6 for the frame...
It would add strength
What size canvas do you get for a full sheet of arches?
Hola🙋🏻♀️ pregunto mojo el papel para instalarlo en el marco o bastidor🤔
How long do you soak it in the tub?
so, do you frame a finished piece? what kind of frame. Please show an example. Thanks
Would the lighter weight Arches paper work as well as the 640gm?
Yes, 640 was pushing it but I wouldn't use less than 300gm
Would it be fine to do this on a wood panel?

Is that hot pressed paper or cold pressed?
Cold pressed Arches 640g full sheet....
Cold and rough :-)
