Joyce Faulknor you are a great inspiration. Your spirit has me dancing on the page....LOL. I have come so far in such a short time.....it is amazing. I am outdoors now doing Plein Air. I searched out your name on TH-cam to get some encouragement before I go out to paint Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal....Thank you so much. You have been a great support.
Jbell01108- I keep the painting on the stretcher bars, then I varnish the painting, this is an excellent way to keep your watercolors archival without the hassle and cost of matting and framing. The customers love this finish, I cannot keep any original paintings finished in this manner in stock. No glass no glare no worries!!!
hey mam, i really love ur work,,as well u,,,its really reallistic,,i hav som talent like this, but need to extend more,,,n i would like to really learn or extend ma talent from you..
Yes! I have stretched 3' x 4', 4'x 4' and other sizes. I build my own stretchers when going big and usually add at least one cross beam between the longest sides that is shallow and will not come in contact with the paper back. Deep stretchers bars enable that to be done. I have also used eyelets screwed into the interior edge of stretcher bars adding thin florest wire to keep the frame from twisting as the paper dries, or even to correct a bow . Wet that paper with spray bottle before adding wire to make such corrections. If it going to be framed you may be able to let the frame do the correcting. 140 lb. paper with fibers like Windser & Newton. Not Strathmore (no fibers) which will rip and make the artist angry. lol

Some day I'm gonna make it to Boone! Taking some workshops at cheapjoes is at the top of my bucket list!
It seems like it would be a lot of fun taking a workshop from her! I love the idea of wrapping the paper around bars, I will have to try that.
@mrmiangel00 Joyce is using Kilimanjaro 140 lb Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper.

do you remove the paper from the frame when you are done and ready to frame it?
thanks for sharing this ! what kind of varnish do you use???
Is this suposed to be done before painting or can it also be done after?
Sorry this is late, but for posterity, you stretch before you paint.
Can you strech on a really big canvas? Has anyone tried that?? Thank you!

Could you please spell the name of the water paper u used?
Once paper is stretched she starts painting when it dries?
I hang it up vertical for 2 hours. It should sound like a low drum when you thump it.
