  • The process of removing & replacing the chain, front & rear sprockets on a Yamaha TDM 900 motorcycle.
I am no mechanic and claim no responsibility for any damage of any kind that may be caused while attempting to reproduce the procedure depicted in this video - I just had to do this job myself and this is simply a video of the process.

Thanks for this one, most helpful. I have had a TDM for 18 years now since new but have always left chain and sprockets to the mechanic. I might give it a go myself next time.

It's not really too complicated, just make sure you understand exactly how the chain tool works (lots of videos on that on youtube), and pray your front sprocket is not a right pain in the ***** to loosen :P

@@pazofpazof Hi Paz, I finally gave it a go yesterday but on my son's Suzuki, so now I'm an expert! It seems Yamaha expects you to change or grease the swingarm bearings at the same time so they supply you with an unbroken chain! TDM will be next.

I have a problem with the rotation of my front wheel, change brake pads, clean the capillary or calipers up to the pistons, change brake fluid, but when lifting the front wheel and turning it by hand it is difficult for it to turn. when driving the motorcycle this causes the motorcycle to strain when leaving rest.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "which to which" - all parts I used were OEM - rear sprocket part number is 5PS-25442-00 - front sprocket is 5PS-17460-00. Hope that helps.

@@claudiozinghini8800 Ah, yeah it's pretty useful. Some guy in Poland makes it. I got it years ago and can't remember the website exactly, but there is a group on facebook called TDM 900 where people have mentioned it many times, if you have a facebook account do a quick search in there and I believe you will be able to find it ;)
