Good to hear nothing major has broken for you! The biggest thing I've had happen in my 6,000 miles of ownership was replacing the fuel tank because of a crack in the pinch weld. I also had the cam sensor replaced because my car would crank for 30-60 seconds before starting when hot. My car also leaks a bit from the rear main, best to wait until the clutch goes. Warning on the accessory belts - the alternator pivot bolt on NB2s goes through the back of the alternator and is a real PITA to back out. Tripple check the new belt is on TIGHT before driving very far because that belt also turns the water pump. The car will overheat fast if it slips off. You may want to check your motor mounts too, mine were destroyed. Lastly, when you want to replace the trans fluid, try Ford Motorcraft. It's a little hard to shift on cold mornings, but I like how buttery smooth it is once everything is warm.
Thanks for the tips! The rear main seal is a good point. I've got 2 quarts of Ford Motorcraft sitting in my garage now, I'll just hold onto it until it's needed :)
Having just bought a Miata similar to yours, I stumbled across your videos. Enjoyed the presentation and info. Being an old guy I'll probably keep mine stock. After having several Lotus 7's as my fun cars I thought it was time to get something I could still have fun with that was just a BIT more practical. My wife said our next fun car had to have doors and a roof. Well, now I have them; and AC, heater and a radio. Hope you continue with the videos. Fun to watch.
If your car does that again it could be the idle air control valve solenoid which is right underneath the throttle body I had to clean mine with WD-40 it's really easy just be careful don't strip the two Phillips heads that hold it in place I actually replace those Phillips heads with regular hex bolts when I put it back together again but mine was doing the same exact problem that yours was and it didn't throw a code but sometimes if it does throw a code that's the code that it throws....the one that you got. A tiny little bit of soot is all it takes to make it so it doesn't work
Hey buddy don’t know if you’re still having issues with that clunk you were talking about but have you checked your camber bolts on your control arms? Apparently the offset keyway on the bolts break and cause the camber to change under hard cornering
Huh, hadn’t thought of that. I got an alignment recently and it actually was almost spot on in terms of camber so that leads me to believe it’s probably not the issue. Appreciate the input though!
What are you majoring in at college? That F1 thing looks like a ton of fun. I've always loved cars so much but I literally have no clue on how to work on them, neither how to get started. Never been mechanically inclined but I don't want to die not having that skillset. Any tips on how to get your foot in the door in that aspect?
Majoring in mechatronic engineering! I bought the Miata partly to learn how to work on cars. That’s honestly the best way to start. First thing I learned to do was change my oil and have just been doing progressively more from there.
@@GavinRemme I really appreciate the reply man, gonna be getting myself a Miata this summer hopefully so let’s see if I get my feet wet working on it. And that major looks fun and super interesting but I’m sure there’s lots of math and physics courses and I’m pretty much brain dead when it comes to that 😂😂 doing computer science atm but we’ll see. Wish you the best and looking forward to your vids!
I had steering squeak and it turned out to be squeak from brakes. Was there only when i turn steering while pressing brakes. Though it was a BMW F10, could be something to look at. BMW tech said it is very normal.

where are those girls that were on your last video?
The belt on my 99 does the exact same thing in cold weather
I got excited for a sec, I thought the pops were from your car 😮
Dude I wish 😩. It somehow lined up perfectly that way though from another car

Putting a desktop CPU cooler on a laptop!

It was my ball joint on the tie rod
You are low on steering fluid. Add some Lucas power steering fluid leak protection
I am not actually. It was my steering tie rod ball joint.
A year later with the car we need an update on the girls you picked up last time
Hey Gavin, are you lsd or open diff?
Open
Damn I really fucking want one.
Yes I definitely want f1 vids
Same
Nice
