Hi, great videos! Learning a lot for my future go at repointing an old chimney. Do you have Any tips for grinding out the old joints as far as the depth goes? Can I grind all 4 sides and then point or do I do one side then move on to the rest?
Wouldn't it be a good idea to have 2 chariots? One with the nail head out and one with the naill head in. That way, you could switch in and out and never miss a beat.
You know you did more on the right hand side of the wall Rodian? 15 perps to the 12 on the left as you did the middle perps, still it looked quicker anyway :)
mr pencil arts is correct , use the end of the handle to get to perps the nail cant get , using the chariot run the nail head along top and bottom of brick arris and job done , don't fuck about measuring with the tape find a bit of timber 5or 6mm and use that as the guide for depth -think that's chariots covered
Lol, I used the chariot on my wall when I started and I had to refill it all cuz I cut it too deep 😂😂 oops. Really struggling with my level technique thou, and don't understand how to work a tape measure, if you can could you give us a video on how to use a tape measure?
Why would you put the point down, and always do the beds first or you take a chance of chipping off a corner. That tool has been around longer than you have.
Your humility is rare, refreshing. Don’t lose it, It’s a strong point.
We always use nail head out...and btw I always have the urge to tap that play button on the feature brickwork! haha
love the vid as always mate, got to love the bloopers even more tho lol
Bloopers are hilarious!!! Brilliant video mate!👍
Nice one Rodian . That is the beauty of you tube , we can all learn stuff from it 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
I’ve always used the nail head then rub in with the chariot handle then brush up 👍
Much Respect Rodian! Another great video. Thanks for listening to, and teaching us.

I use an old Allen key in mine, does the job great
Hi, how long do you wait for the mortar mix to set before doing the racking?

If your nail head is big you can also take a hammer to the side of the nail head to oval the head of the nail for tighter mortar joints
Bloopers are great
I always use an OBO( steel nail) head down to rake the joint, not to big and not too small
Hi I've watched nearly all ur vidz love them keep them coming! BTW when u layed this wall did u use a line or not?!
I find Hilti nails best, last longer and the flat end is smaller for tight joints.
Is it me or does it look neater using the nail head?

Head for fresh mortar, point for old joints?
I would say that's the most ideal way to do it 👍🏻🧱
Head to rake always

Do you mean a brick rule
Never heard of nail point facing down weird mate
Gary Kitchen . Your watching this video at 3am your weird
Man you use the handle of the chariot to point up..
