    My 4yr old Monrovia Bonsai Blue Jacaranda is seeding this year for the first time!! I'm here to learn how to pass them on. I absolutely love these trees!

    I just had someone send me some seed pods from trees in their California yard to Florida so I'm going to try both methods. You should totally do an updated video, its been a couple months since you made this video, would love to see how much if they've grown!

    • @yorkiem0m

      **update** I tried both methods, I had success from both, though the paper towel ones have thinner stems and are not growing as much, but they all have first leaves.

      @@vaidehilokare8897 you maybe could, but there are so many seeds inside and I wanted to start several plants. If they germinated like that you just end up killing them because I don't think you'd grow like 20 of them together.(I didn't count the seeds but they are very tiny and clumped together)

    I bought some seeds and the instructions said to plant the seeds on top of the soil and then to let them germinate with lots of light. Everywhere i look i see different methods. its been almost 3 weeks and nothing yet. I havent given up on them but I have some spare seeds, so imma try a different methode
    About the ones in the towel. I heard you say something like "i put it on top of my cabin" is it better to put them in a spot with lots of light of better in the dark?

    • @dibbleandseed
      @dibbleandseed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate I'm not a pro on these so merely showed you what worked best in this example. The bag method is the most consistent that I have used. They did get light at times throughout the day. If you live I'm Brisbane, Australia. I have 2 trays of germinated ones looking for a home if needed.

  • @abrogard142

    so if you'd opened the paper towel seeds a bit earlier the roots would be shorter and easier to get into the trays? any advantage/disadvantage to that?

      Have never kept them in pots to give you a realistic guide. I do know pruning them results in vertical shoots along branches which may impact the aesthetic of the plant. They are best not pruned

      2 just increases the likelihood a cell will produce a seedling. If there is no shortage of seeds go with 2 in each. If you have a limited supply and enough tray space one in each is sufficient.

    i have one question, my seedlings are in paper towel now, the stems are thinner and fragile, am kind of hesitant to transfer them in soil - because one of the seedling already got damaged after going in soil :/ -
    How much time is good enough for seedlings to stay in paper towel?
    should there be any specific kind of soil? or compost for proper humidity?

    • @dibbleandseed
      @dibbleandseed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The seedlings are surviving off the initial energy available in the seed. If they are not provided with a source of light and nutrients they will not thrive. If they appear weak pot them up into controlled conditions with less harsh variations in temp or moisture levels. Eg Keep the soil moist, pop them in seed raising mix, leave them on a window sill inside so they won't bake.

    From my research, I found out that trees grown from seeds can take up to 20 years to blossom.

    • @dibbleandseed
      @dibbleandseed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I did some research to clarify your point. 20 years is to reach full size or full maturity. Seed grown jacarandas can take 7+ years to flower. If you graft or grow from cuttings you can speed it up. Thanks for sharing.
