The sonnet is goated. I'm never going to settle for anything less than this keyboard. Too excited for my Envoy too!

I'll be amazed if I ever find a better looking keyboard than the green sonnet with the copper or wood accents. I was only ever interested in 65%'s until the sonnet came out.

That is amazing. I really want that mode 65 buuuut the sonnet is such a nice combo and i love that the f row is spaced up just a bit but its not any wider then a 65. Also looove that cable on the board. Where is it from? Always like your custom straight cables. One think i really want for my setup!

Alex, love that you defended the cheaper switches. Next time mention your favorite "budget" switch... I avoided some G yellows when I first got in because I got bad advice. Just finished my lubing my first set today and I can't believe that I didn't start here. Appreciate your videos! Wish we could get you some kick back for all the Mode's you sold ;) Envoy, Sonnet and now I need to buy a Navy copper bottom Sonnet :)
I second this. I got some Gateron Pro Milky Yellows recently and can't believe I didn't take a chance on them and get them first! They are amazing after hand-lubing.
I really wanted the copper bottom too, but $310 just for the copper bottom... it makes my wallet cry every time i see that price
Those GMK Honor (Dark) on the other Sonnet look terrific.
I think GMK Honor is one of the best sets to come out in a while...super nice.
Got the Mode 65 and each time I see the Sonnet it makes me want a 75% finally. Just can't seem to justify the cost, as much as I would love it the 65 is more than enough. Would just be nice to have the F row.
Happy to see that it is still in stock unlike the 65. Maybe one day I'll have $800 to throw at another endgame keyboard.
Got my 65 with brass bottom, copper plate, black alu top (wish I got blue grey instead now but black still nice) using custom switches, boba u4t stems, spring and top with C3 Kiwi bottoms, call them boba fetts since they got a similar colour way. Using cerakey ceramic keycaps atm, but also have a set of GMK toxic with same switches on an extra FR4 plate for when I want to change things up.

@@Mindless.creation had extra COVID money from gov at the time. Also had a decent job. Honestly if you don't care about weight then just get a keychron and get nice switches and caps. If you really want weight add some lead into the bottom lol.
Don't get me wrong I love my mode65 but sound wise put some pe foam and a metal plate it'll sound 85% or more the same

With the ceramic keycaps or GMK set I have those are each $200 (ceramic is worth it, GMK isn't imo unless you love the colour and can't get similar elsewhere). About a hundred on the switches and some novelty kepcaps. This bissh is $1k cad at least after taxes n shipping

Carbon fibre is so lit, probably my favourite plate material of all time. Really vibe with Alex's sentiment as well. Switch price really doesn't matter since it's all about the sound and feel. I mean, why do people think Cherry is still so popular despite JWK's huge presence in the market
ok im just curious why is it that the people who aren't into keyboards, custom keyboards I mean, always show the same keyboard in every video. They'll have Grovemade, Orbitkey, Deltahub, Flexispot, Ergonofis and most of the time, prebuilts like Keychron, Iquinix, Nuphy, and Logitech, but then when it comes to custom keyboards, they always only show 1 particular keyboard brand, Mode keyboards. and sometimes Luminikey. Why is that? Is Mode somewhere being promoted on kickstarter or something. Literally every desk setup video i've seen, these people will have prebuilt keyboards and then the exception of Mode. Why is it that I only see Mode everywhere. It''s literally posted by everyone who isn't into keyboards for some reason. What I mean is you don't see Jelly Epoch, or FoxLab, or qk65, or zoom65, or time80, or space65, etc being seen. What makes the Mode so special? It's so bizarre. These desk setup youtubers always show the same exact products from one another and they always own the same product and somehow all of a sudden, they have an expensive Mode keyboard on their desk??? Makes no sense

Really baffles me that there are next to none budget keyboard maker releasing anything with the Mode Sonnet layout. Tired of the exploded 75% really. At least there's Akko but not really a big fan of their case design
Jris75 is the only board with that layout and I might have to jump on it

Love the talk about budget switches early in the video. Just got into the hobby and from all the videos I've seen, the Akko switches blow me away in terms of sound each and every time. Ordered my first set of switches a couple of days ago( akko cream yellows ) and I'm looking forward to my first own custom build sooo much.
The sonnet is my endgame dream board. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to pick it up :)

Just rebuilt my Sonnet with lubed and filmed gateron cream sodas on an aluminum half plate, alu top/bottom case with the copper weight! Still maybe not as soft a typing experience as I’d have expected, but it sounds so good even with no foam!
Sweet build! Did you clean off the factory lube on the cream sodas, or lube right over?
@@seishun9611 Thanks! I just lubed over it with 205g0. I mostly noticed the factory lube on the rails. I’d also say I heard conflicting information from reviewers about whether the switches should be filmed. After having them in hand, I don’t think it’s worth the time to do it, but I was going no compromise since I was soldering these in. FWIW, I bought from RNKBD (based out of Canada), but shipping costs to the US weren’t bad.

Do you have issues inserting switches all the way in with the carbon plate? The pins on the switches dont pop out for me, tested with several different ones, and the result is this tight, compressed sound signature

Sonnet is on my dream list. I want to patina the copper bottom and accent I just can’t justify the $700 tag right now. Either silver with a hiso red patina or get green with a blue patina

Man, I've literally been sitting with the Mode Sonnet + Copper Bottom + Copper Accent in my cart for a couple days now. For you to drop this video is making it REAL tempting. That $250 price tag for the bottom is hard to justify for my first custom board though. That and I'm still deciding on what kind of switches, keycaps, and plate I wanna use in this thing.

Properly lubed browns and black (assuming cherry mx) with swapped springs sound and feel heavenly
@Aresuna i don't personally prefer the stock springs, but i still respect the switch in that form if lubed properly.
i turned to double staged springs long ago and will never look back to traditional linear springs.
i currently main hg browns with azure dragon springs in them (68g double stage i believe), ghv4 on stems avoiding bump and 105 on springs. heavenly is correct.
i have another board with hg blacks, lubed as above, with 55g gazzew springs in them. s tier all the same.
i am about to lube up some hg browns, although this time with 205 and 105 for the springs. going to throw in 55g gazzew springs as well as these in particular have become my favorite. putting this version in my salvation whenever i get it.

Truth about some switches being top tier for less money. Just because it uses more readily available (thus cheaper) materials and manufacturing techniques doesn't mean it's bad. It just means they're easy to produce.
I still like a "cheap" switch as top tier... Feker Matchas/Cream Matchas, especially if you're still open to the option of spring swapping.

milky yellow is thockier than ink black v2 and i have both.
Got the white body with multi color accent very recently. Literally dying to finish the build but sadly my l+f emogogo linears and stabs are still on the way 🥹
