    I purchased this model a year ago and was very happy with it so I purchased a second to add to my gear. Easy and fun to use and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to bait cast.

    Hello...im a failrly new sub. I really enjoy your videos..im a single father of an 11 yr old girl. About 2 months ago i introduced her to bass fishing and we have gone damn near everyday since. Especially w this Covid 19 crap going on. Im constantly teaching her. I love your message "teaching the world too fish" we watch your vids together. Hell im still learning and ive been fishing for 20 yrs. Anyways....i just wanted to say thank you. You prob hear it all the time so it may not mean anything to hear agian but i wanted to say it. It's hard raising a little girl alone and u give me one more thing that her and i can do together. So i thank you. Keep stuff like that in mind when u make your videos. Keep up the amazing job...and thank u agian.

    I take apart computers regularly, change components (memory, PCIe, processor, hdd/sdd etc.), put it back together, reload the OS (if needed), and be good. But taking apart a reel makes me nervous for all the SMALL bits and pieces that, like you mentioned, just fall out. Of course like a computer, once you learn to do it, you do it easily I suppose. Great video, and very informative!!

  • @Flukemaster
    @Flukemaster  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes. I own two of them and they are great reels at that price. I finally found something that they can't do. They don't like to cast heavy lures like big swimbaits and umbrella rigs. They are great for everything else.

    Fluke, as a trusted resource, I would love to see you do a similar video on cleaning your 13 Fishing spinning reels. I have seen a lot of varying opinions and videos out there on what components should be oiled versus greased, and vice versa, and how far a maintenance or cleaning should go, ie how far do you go to get things greased, oiled and cleaned. As a resource many see as honest, straight forward and without bias, I would very interested in watching a video done by you on cleaning and maintaining a 13 Fishing Spinning reel. Thank you and keep up the great work. Sincerely, Nick

      I'm new to baitcasters, but I've done a lot of research on the parts commonly seen inside them, especially the bearings:
      Generally speaking, if a bearing needs to move as fast as possible, use thin oil.
      if a bearing needs friction to work right, but still needs lube, Thick grease.
      Some parts don't need speed Or friction, so you might just use grease so the lube lasts longer, or maybe oil so it stays cleaner. For that I like to split the difference with THICK viscosity oil, which is thinner than grease and thicker than speed oil.
      One more side note about Ceramic Ball Bearings:
      DO NOT use oil, or grease, or any other liquid lubricant on CERAMIC ball bearings. It will ruin the bearings, as the ceramic BBs are porous, and once they absorb liquid lubricant, they will grind forever, and they cannot be cleaned. Ceramic bearings are meant to run completely dry, no lube. Some types may be able to use graphite, but I recommend leaving them alone. That's just ceramic, though.

    Great video but a spot you failed to mention is the worm gear to main gear. I cleaned mine multiple times and it still had a growl while reeling it in even changed the anti reverse bearing as to it being a little rusty from saltwater fishing still had a growl. I took a small paint brush and greased the worm gear to main gear and it got a lot quieter. Hope this helps someone.
    Other then that great video long time sub glad to see the time you take and the instructions you give have helped me a lot.

    have same reel, actually got 3 revos, only 1 stx. I just take spool out, clean a little bit, drop of reel fluid down where spool connects during the fishing season if I think it's running a little rough or I accidently dunk it, get it wet and see a little oil slick in the water, literally 1 tiny drop is good if it's just running rough, I might do what gene did if I accidentally dunk it. I do the whole tacklejunky81 thing over the winter, Gene's absolutely right, tj81 has some good videos, I used to have my reels serviced, last winter did them myself

    A black or white Buzzbait can be really helpful as well as a rebel popper. I'd fished many ponds before the big reservoirs and lakes but anytime of the day I could catch a fish from those 2 baits. I'd actually started with those 2 baits with a 6'6" Zebco Spincast and caught hundred of bass from it. A Mann's Minus is a great shallow pond bait as well. PM me about any type Qs about Bass fishing...I have many years of tournaments, tackle, gear, and equipment knowledge. Keep on Fishin'

I'm always looking for good videos on reel maintenance because I'm always looking for good tips and some extras I might miss. I also brush the top of my brake weights with a q-tip because they will also collect dirt and I also run the q-tip around the inside of the side plate where the brake weights run. Do you recommend oiling the worm gear, or using grease?

    What do you do to fix a casting reel if the spool release button isn't being clicking into place to prevent line from coming out as soon as you start reeling? It's so hard to fish top water when you have to stop with your thumb, change hands, and then by the time you start reeling the lure has already sunk 4' into a snag.

    I have a Daiwa TATULA 100HS that makes noise no matter what. I've sent it off to have a deep cleaning and it comes back sounding the same. I returned it for a new one and it does the same right out of the box. Is it something I'm doing wrong or is this a Diawa problem? Thanks for all your videos. Best videos on the net!

    • @Flukemaster
      @Flukemaster  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Jenkins It may just be a normal noise. Reels these days are made with materials that thin but very strong. This makes for a lighter reel but also allows us to hear more sound coming out of the reel. If it casts good and retrieves good and doesn't break then it will be fine.

H2O Xpress Mettle camo and 2 of them aren't as smooth as the others, they feel more geary and make a slight whirly sound when letting the handle spin and I can feel the vibration in the handle of the rod. You have got to focus on finding the fish. The bass aren't going to bite if they aren't there. If you are bank fishing start off on the steepest bank and fan cast all along it. That is usually where the channel of the pond comes closest to the bank and the channel is the travel route of all the fish in the lake.
