Several tri-fold tonneau covers flip up against the back window, leaving your entire bed available for use. Someone that really wants to get into the cargo bed will just slice through your tonneau cover with a knife. The LED bed lighting is a must for those with a cover, and fortunately mine came stock with it; must be one of the differences between the TRD Off-Road package vs SR5. Wish Toyota would just put the LED bed lights in all models.
If you just have a clip holding your trailer hitch pin in, you better get a padlock on it. I used to live at Newport Oregon near the boat launch. People would steal the hitches off the tourists trucks every day. Wal-Mart sold a lot of hitches for that reason.
Loving your videos, my friend. If I may make one suggestion, one mod that I've found that I can't live without is a good hood deflector. I work at an autobody shop and the last thing that happens before we deliver a vehicle to the customer is give it a final detail. It's always a real bummer when the rest of the vehicle looks gorgeous and clean but the Hood paint looks like crap because of fade marks from bug guts and rock chips, both problems that would have been solved with a hood deflector. Another bonus is that it will redirect the airflow over your vehicle so small bugs and light snow will not hit your windshield, which can really save your wipers. I strongly recommend a high profile deflector as they will provide the most protection. I personally use the AVS Bugflector II, its $60 so it won't break the bank, its stylish (imo), and it's heaps cheaper than having your hood repainted a few years down the road. Some people don't care for the look of hood deflectors, but I can promise you this, the hood deflector looks a lot better than your hood will without it. ;) Take care!

@@AlphaShark Small bugs like mosquitos, gnats, and flies, yes, it deflects them. Big bugs like Junebugs and moths, not so much... nothing will help with them. That's as far as the windshield is concerned, anyway, nothing's going to touch your hood. I haven't had any issues with water that I've noticed. My Bugflector II has 3M adhesive tape, but it also gives you the option to use 2 screws if you want. I personally don't use the screws, they aren't necessary and all the screws and holes will do over time is rust anyway. The 3M tape that it comes with is plenty strong, I wash my truck twice a week during the winter and it's stayed put through everything. My only minor complaint is that it does like to whistle at freeway speeds, but I almost always have the radio on so that's a non-issue. Once again, all of this experience is specifically with the AVS Bugflector II. I haven't tried any other hood deflectors. After all, if it ain't broke, why fix it? Hope that helps. :)
@@AlphaShark Looks like the AVS Bugflector II for the Tacoma comes with plastic female ends that insert into existing holes under the hood. That's much more convenient because it will make removing it much easier if you decide you don't like it, also because you don't have to drill into the physical hood itself. The main point is that it will protect the paint on your hood. For me, the fact that it also deflects some bugs, dirt, and moisture from the windshield is just an extra bonus.
That's funny how people said if you want to run away from the cops. It's a Tacoma it wont out run a corolla let alone a police car. Lol. I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 so I'm not knocking it. I love mine. I went with the tri fold hard cover. I kept going back and forth with the roll up one for the reasons you mentioned. When I need the full bed I just remove it. Takes 5 minutes to take off and put on. I don't use mine every day though. Also have the rubber bed mat. It's super handy. Great idea with those LED lights in the bed! Gonna look for those! I also have done the LED interior and license plate lights, they come as a "kit" on Amazon, been using them about 2 years with no issues. The area you mounted your bed lights actually is for a piece of 2×6 lumber(I didn't know myself until last week) so you can either separate items or build a bed shelf out of plywood that rides the length of the bed along those top edges. Completely useless info for how you use your Tacoma but something I'm considering trying. I also need a phone mount for GPS but I want one without a magnet(Note 9 with Otterbox) that adjusts for different devices.

All the soft covers have that weakness. The hard ones are more expensive and I'd agree that needing to take it off is bad to use all the bed. Folding up on the window is a compromise at best as it blocks the full rear view, I'd only be ok with that for short trips. Anyway having things unseen and not exposed to all the weather and theft is something even the cheapest ones do. If someone knows something is in there and wants it bad enough even locks on a hard cover aren't stopping them.
Amazon has letters you can put in the tail gate where it says Tacoma that cost $40 and adds to the looks from behind. I got chrome for my limited, looks good...🙏
For my dome lights I installed a red LED on the driver side and white on the passenger. The red is pretty neat and not overpowering. Plus you feel like you're in a submarine. Who doesn't like pretending to be in a sub? Oh, and I also love Jesus. All the best to you.
Not sure if you knew this but those groves in the bed, where you installed the LEDs are for 2x6’s. You can cut 2x6 boards to the width of your bed and then lay cargo flat avoiding the wheel wells. I used them transporting canoes and a table once. 🌮
Waiting for my '21 Taco Off Road to arrive. I noticed that you've got the interior orange accents - I happened to catch that in some of Toyota's info - personally I think it's too much. To each his own I suppose. Thankfully mine won't have it. Toyota now offers LED bed lighting on the '20s & '21s - looks pretty cool. I'll be retiring my '06 Taco as soon as the new one arrives. Hopefully my dealer and I can come to agreeable financial terms - the MSRP is obscene!
@@AlphaShark I've been paying attention to all of the negotiation clips on TH-cam on how to get a fair deal. I've kinda laid the groundwork with the sales manager at my dealership. He knows that if it wasn't for my efforts with Toyota USA corporate brass they would not be getting the packages on the Taco that I want, and they would not be keeping a 40+ year customer. They have the added bonus of selling a vehicle that's not counted against their allotment.
Do you off road or put a ton of load in your truck bed from time to time? Look into bed stiffeners, just to see if it applies to you. Just learned about them for my tacoma so I got one lol

Hey guys I just bought a 2019 Tacoma SR5. Is there a mod to access your rear camera while towing? I’ve seen some videos of aftermarket radios using the rear cam continuously while driving to check out your trailer. Is there a way to do this with the stock radio?
You are actually in luck, I work in car audio and car radios in my daytime job. So you CAN over ride the backup camera with an aftermarket radio and I'd imagine you can on the stock one too. But it's not recommended because the backup cameras are designed to only be on part of the time, so they have a higher risk of burning out quicker if they're continuously on. I'd approach your Toyota dealer and ask them if they could wire it for that, my guess is they'd tell you the same thing.
Hi Jimmy, there is a mod I found on the tacoma world forums (www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-tacoma-front-rear-camera-navigation-bypass-homelink-smartphone-mirroring-mod.473033/) where one of the members sells a short cable adapter with the ability to install a switch to turn on the rear cam as needed. Hope this helps!

Awesome choice! I’m sure you’ll love the Taco! You know when you’re looking for a car? Let’s like a black Subaru Outback and then you start seeing black Subaru outback’s everywhere on the road? It’s not that all of the sudden everyone bought one, you just never saw them before because you weren’t looking for one! That’s kinda how God does things, to a nonbeliever something I see as God blessing me doesn’t look like anything. But to me since I’m looking for the blessing I see it’s God. I hope that makes sense, that might not even make sense. And it’s not that God necessarily wanted them to fit as much as I felt he was blessing me with the exact fitment, when people say “what are the odds of that happening?” I always point to God, because no odds are too crazy for him.
SR or SR5 has no factory decals other than the SR badges and maybe the 4x4 badge, every model above that has decals. The TRD upgrade is worth the money if you can afford it and plan to haul any moderate to semi-heavy loads. The main upgrade is in the Bilstein shock components for better comfort and control with a load or going off-road, and anti trailer sway goodies. Then the badges/decals, and the electronics are the rest of the minor upgrades. The sport and off road are the same truck except the shocks are tuned differently, the off road has a true locking rear differential, and a flat hood, where the sport has a fake cowl hood, and a limited slip differential which is subpar compared to the off road’s locking diff. Basically if you wanna look good and play hard straight from the dealership you gonna have to pay for it up front.

Hey guys I just bought a 2019 Tacoma SR5. Is there a mod to access your rear camera while towing? I’ve seen some videos of aftermarket radios using the rear cam continuously while driving to check out your trailer. Is there a way to do this with the stock radio?
You are actually in luck, I work in car audio and car radios in my daytime job. So you CAN over ride the backup camera with an aftermarket radio and I'd imagine you can on the stock one too. But it's not recommended because the backup cameras are designed to only be on part of the time, so they have a higher risk of burning out quicker if they're continuously on. I'd approach your Toyota dealer and ask them if they could wire it for that, my guess is they'd tell you the same thing.
Hi Jimmy, there is a mod I found on the tacoma world forums (www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-tacoma-front-rear-camera-navigation-bypass-homelink-smartphone-mirroring-mod.473033/) where one of the members sells a short cable adapter with the ability to install a switch to turn on the rear cam as needed. Hope this helps!

That’s kinda how God does things, to a nonbeliever something I see as God blessing me doesn’t look like anything. But to me since I’m looking for the blessing I see it’s God. I hope that makes sense, that might not even make sense. And it’s not that God necessarily wanted them to fit as much as I felt he was blessing me with the exact fitment, when people say “what are the odds of that happening?” I always point to God, because no odds are too crazy for him.

SR or SR5 has no factory decals other than the SR badges and maybe the 4x4 badge, every model above that has decals. The TRD upgrade is worth the money if you can afford it and plan to haul any moderate to semi-heavy loads. The main upgrade is in the Bilstein shock components for better comfort and control with a load or going off-road, and anti trailer sway goodies. Then the badges/decals, and the electronics are the rest of the minor upgrades. The sport and off road are the same truck except the shocks are tuned differently, the off road has a true locking rear differential, and a flat hood, where the sport has a fake cowl hood, and a limited slip differential which is subpar compared to the off road’s locking diff. Basically if you wanna look good and play hard straight from the dealership you gonna have to pay for it up front.

Deanna Sassorossi which ones did you get? For the taillights? The dome lights or the front lights? Because if you did the the front lights I accidentally put them in the turn signal spot and they wouldn’t come and I realized that after awhile 😂
