"I'm Canadian, I'm sorry" is probably the most Canadian thing that can ever be said.
Some really great tips in here! I need to build up my kit a bit more like yours. A couple other things to consider are a space blanket, flashlight, fire spark thingy, change of clothes or at least extra pair of pants and a sweatshirt. Also, always fun to have binoculars in the truck if you enjoy the outdoors - which could also double as a magnify glass to start fire.

What amp did you go with for the kickers?
Red I just bought a JL audio rd400 amp and the new kicker hideaway 10 sub with built in amp. I’ll let you know how it turns out. I’m using kicker cs speakers.
Luv the bags. I have the weather techs in my 14 TRD Off Road. They are a must have. I put a snug top on my bed. Must have. Keeps bed dry for storage and very easy to remove if you to haul large cargo, plus folds all the way to cab.
From a Taco owner way to go with your son! Nothing hanging out with the little dude! My boy and I do the same thing he’s still small enough to think Dad is the Man!

For the interior light bulb removal process try duct tape. It worked great for me👍🏼

@@Cesar-no2rf I’m trying to sell my 73 f100 and my Sentra daily, but same! It’s hard finding a nice Tacoma 4x4 in my price range in my state, I don’t wanna drive cross country just to bring it home

And yea man I think I’m gonna hold off from buying a Tacoma for a while, I just went ahead and bought a cheap Corolla with low miles from an older lady!

Very cool mindset you have bro. I moved to Canada from the UK 6 years ago and we have a 4.5 year old son. I’m excited to take the plunge and go off road. I’d love a Tacoma but we have a Cherokee Trailhawk at the moment. It’s a nice vehicle but it’s pretty small. Thanks for sharing 👊🏻❤️🇨🇦

Interior LED are a must. The stock lights are awful.
Definitely, such a cheap and impactful addition.
dash cam can come in handy..
should check out those organizer divider things for the arm rest storage on amazon, they work pretty well for me

Hey thanks Tim, I should do a video explaining where my current mods. What details would you like. It has a Rancho 2.5" lift and 18" fuel wheels with BFG ko2's. If you wouldnt mind subscribe to my channel. You can find a video I did with the exact same lift on my friends gen 3 Tacoma.

Wow so we have the exact same interior lights, the same raceface tailgate mat, and the same rear seat organizer! lol 😂 I went with the Tacoma weather mats though.

@@LeBoosLeisure I had a jlt on my mustang but when i went supercharger i built a custom set up.
The best way to get them out is with duct tape. Wrap the tip of the bulb with the tape the pull down comes out easily

Nice video I would definitely maybe do some led lights for your headlights maybe a light bar that goes in the front of the truck under the grill when you go camping for lights

I was looking at the led bulbs for my car interior as well.
Definitely brighter. I sure they make some.
Just bought some and definitely adds alot more light to it. Got from Amazon and a dome LED from Lordco

Do you know how to wire side mirror puddle light to the second gen? Read somewhere that it could be done with Rav 4 side mirrors would you know anything about it?
Any problems with the LED bulbs blowing the circuit in the overhead? Read about it in one of the forums after I put LEDs in mine and my overhead blew - it did get replaced under warranty.

3m Velcro strips for the curling mats. Quick cheap and easy
Be nice to replace the carpet with a vinyl floor kit, I’ve done it to a 96 taco and loved it, great for snowy and muddy boots
Yeah because that’s what everyone wants to do is take out their nice carpet and put in “plastic” 🙄🙄. Sure!! OR you csn get good floor mats (weather tech) and not ruin your truck. 👎👎
@@joeblow9850 have those mats in every truck I’ve owned, still get tons of mud and snow melt between the seats and doors, under the seats, and so on.

I wish you could get led lights for the interior with a little "warmth" to the white. I dont like straight white dome lights.
Thats the nature of led though. Maybe a tinted cover.

Why do you remove the bulbs after you turn the switch on?
No reason at all. I was just being lazy and didnt turn them off. Just making it harder on myself lol.

Nice vid. Weathertech mats are garbage. Especially the rear mats - always curl, like shown on the vid. I've used a heat gun - works temporarily. They just advertise a lot so people love them. I used Maxliner in my 2nd Gen Taco. Far more substantial, no curling.
I've owned about 4 sets now, I still like them and will continue to. But I'll definitely check those out next time. Part of it is I dont pay retail, I can get this from my suppliers.
What is that RaceFace thing on your tailgate and what does it do?
That is a tail gate pad for carrying mountain bikes. Basically the back end of the bike is in the bed and the front wheel is outside the truck. Can carry up to 5 bikes. I big into biking and have a separate channel for that.

Unfortunately no, it's always on my mind but building 2 trucks I never seem to allocate any money towards it.
Put some aux high power back up lights on that Taco!

what is a lot of miles for a 2nd gen?
Kinda tough to say... how hot is hot? More importantly, how was it taken care of and serviced. But for me once a vehicle its 200k 125mi I generally start to consider it old and worn. That being said they can go considerably longer .

For the life of me I can't understand why y'all are putting in LEDs for the cabin lights. It's such a horrid sterile hospital bed tone of white. The stock incandescent bulbs on the other hand give off a nice warmth. Sure they may be less bright, but what about the vibes? lol I for one will choose vibe over brightness in that category.

Lol thanks, I also say "so" a lot. I'm gonna try and work on it. With some practice itll feel more normal.
The best interior mod is taking down all the horrible gray plastic panels, giving them a good sanding, and then spraying them black.
I hate gray interiors so much, but my taco looks much better inside since I've done this. Looks clean too, like it was that way from the factory.
Next is buy an AWD toyota sienna. You have more room for your child and capable for mild trail roads.

There is a guy with lifted AWD sienna and all terrain tires. His kids sit comfortably at the back. He is practically saying he did not mind giving up his bravado(macho) image for his very young children.
These are entry-level mods, the title should not mislead! Much more like accessorizing the truck, a mod is when your alter the original condition of the vehicle.

Interior mods? Why not start with those crappy rear drum brakes
although is prefer a nice set up disc brakes, these drums work just fine. The oem shoes are going to last forever.
