Thanks for the excellent video! I have a 997.1(2007) with PSS9, and some modify. And also, I love my CAE Shifter and PSS9 as well. Some of the 997s are still in good condition and enjoy daily driving.
Best steering wheel for this car is the 991.2 generation GT Sport wheel. And I agree Numeric is pretty high effort, especially the cables. It's getting annoying for me on short drives, but when you get it warmed up and go for a spirited drive it's great, and especially on track. I still think about going back to stock since most of my driving is casual though. Another mod I'm really happy with is the 18-way adaptive sport seats. Rather pricey for pretty old used seats but a nice upgrade in performance and looks over the standard seats (which aren't terrible to begin with). I don't see a lot of 997 base Carreras in the Bay Area. These videos make me happy 😄 Also nice wheels. What are they?
My car came with BCs and while I probably wouldn’t buy them myself, they’re not as bad as I was expecting. I leave them on full soft and it feels pretty similar to what my old M3 with new OEM suspension felt like, but with the benefit of being able to adjust the ride height and camber.
That's funny. I have a Fister exhaust and a numeric shifter on my 997.1. I also have the LN engineering IMS upgrade and the intake muffler bypass. Next on my list is kw coil overs or M030 sport suspension. I'm also thinking of a duck tail spoiler with sport front bumper for that sport classic look.
Waiting for KW V3 coilovers for my 987.2 Cayman. It was between this and Olins. Heard lots of good hearsay 'bout these two brands. Of course, both are very pricey.
Debating between BCs and Ohlins R&T for my 997.1. Is there any way to set a 1” drop on the BCs? Minimum 2” drop per their website would be too low for me (might be my daily in LA).
@@Zygrene I did some research on this when my Cayman shift cable linkage popped off, which is like the "IMS" thing, but people don't talk about it. The Cayman numeric cables are better made, but the bracket creates more noise while shifting. Some owners opt for the stock cables and bushings instead. Don't know if this is an option for this 911 SSK.
@@DC5Brandon @zygrene This might be a bit late but I have the Numeric shifter with OEM cables and it doesn't feel too high effort, and feels like the right mix. No issues going into any gear except occasionally 1st. One shop mentioned the Numeric cables really increase the effort and make it more like a gated shifter with less forgiving shifts.
So you are saying a 08 Carrera S has an unserviceable IMS bearing and i shouldn't worry about it to much... Everything i have read and watched is telling me different things. lol its hard to keep track of it all.
@@Zygrene thanks I have 997.1 CS. I want a more analog car but not way I can afford a 993 or 964. Got to drive a 1991 NSX NA1 and I loved how analog and how engaging the car was.

Thanks for the review. Difficult to compare coilovers though as there are so many variables around how they have been set up
Great video idea, thanks Zygrene!

Exactly. Assuming the BCs hold up with mileage, they're not nearly as bad as I expected. Fine for a daily driver.
I have mine in the middle setting and the body roll at 70mph sweepers is not great. Is that how yours feel?
@@Sylverlee After spending more time with the BCs I disliked them more and more. Ended up replacing with KW V3s.

I see you are at Alice's! Hope to run into you there someday.
Very well presented video!

I need to do a comparison between the two. I was honestly never impressed by KW V3.
Numeric shifter should be mandatory to-do for all non-GT cars.
Fister exhaust is RELIABLE, his welds don’t go bad. Had mine for 5 years. Makes 3k-5k rpm vastly more entertaining.

If you can afford the Ohlins just get them and don't look back
Ohlins are awesome! Price is very good too for what you get. Not good for a daily though as recommended rebuild interval is only 30 Km.
Even a 1" drop seems excessive to me in LA. I mean, I like the look but I'm scraping EVERYWHERE as is on stock suspension & ride height.
Looking for the Agency Power exhaust
Which wheels are those? I dig them
Hi can to tell me what spacers he used? Thx
So that’s a yes on BC Coilovers for a daily driver that occasionally sees the canyons?
Assuming the BCs don't need to be rebuilt too often, I'd say yes
Did I miss you saying if these are using stock cables or numeric cables? Wonder if that would make a difference in the shifting effort?
Numeric cables. I've never tried a Numeric ssk with OEM cables but that would be interesting!

What wheel is that on the blue car? Thanks.

Random question. Do you prefer your 997 over the NSX NA1?
As a daily yes, because it's easier to drive and I'm less paranoid about getting it dinged up. But the NSX feels a lot more special.
@@Zygrene thanks

@@rooftop_dk the NSX is definitely much more engaging even just putting around town, but any 997.1 is a decent step up in performance.
@@Zygrene if you had to pick one car which would it be? I already have a soccer dad car for a daily.
Is there ever a reason to go with the old design ? Like if you plan to boost it?
Who’s shift knob is that?

I dunno if junk like bc can be called an upgrade 😂
It's just a base...it doesn't matter. Stop making such a big deal. Really.
