  • In this video I go over the theory of how the battery negative terminal being connected to the chassis of a vehicle works, and how devices share grounds. When connecting a high current device like a 2way radio or lightbar it is important to connect the power and ground cables to the correct locations in the vehicle.

I was taught by a really old-school TV repairman. He was a family friend who owned a TV repair shop in the most ghetto part of the ghetto area of Orange, NJ. Our family owned a dress shop a few doors down, so you can guess where I would always visit.. especially during my multiple public school suspensions for acting like an ass when bored. 🫣😆
That was in the “10-4 Good Buddy” CB Radio days.
He mandated tinned copper braid be used to bond the vehicle’s battery’s negative terminal to a clean and shiny metallic spot of the vehicle body.
All doors, hood, trunk, etc.. all got “bonding jumpers.
He taught me so damn much! How to do work I’d be proud to show others.
How to treat people properly. How honesty and integrity would keep your business as busy as it could ever be.
He would routinely allow customers to take home repaired items and allow them to pay when they could afford to.

That fine man, Paul Garafola, my mentor through my early teens through my post-doc work at RPI and through early life….
Was working late in his store on Christmas Eve in the early 2000’s. He had converted his TV repair business into a video rental and accessories business and wanted to be open for his customers.
His body was found the next day when he failed to show up for Christmas dinner at his daughter’s home.
His wife had died the prior year and he was just getting back to some normalcy and visiting family more often.
A model BLM type had entered the store on Christmas Eve and beat Paul’s skull in with a claw hammer as he was literally begging for his life. He lie on the floor for hours, moving occasionally and seizing many times before his body was lifeless in a huge puddle of blood.
The savage animal thug who killed him… walked away with all of $11.
      The scumbag was never located.
The lesson? Paul took me shooting and taught me about firearm safety when I was just 10.
My folks WERE far lefties and were terrified that if they had a gun in our home, it would get up and kill everyone on its own.
They have finally grown up and are conservative patriots now..
      Paul’s lesson?
He had secured his UNLOADED pistol in a “lock box” to comply with NJ law.
The frail 86 year old man just had no time to UNsecure the key to life.
      2A.
      RIP Paul Garafola. 😢🇺🇸
The store was located in lovely semi-burned out Orange, NJ.
in the PRNJ “People’s Republic of New Jersey”.
