120 junge Musiker aus der ganzen Welt, keiner älter als 26, proben mit Leonard Bernstein ein schwieriges Strawinsky-Werk. Das Ergebnis ist für alle Beteiligten beglückend.

Bernstein was simply a genius. He opens himself up so much -pure unrelentless giving. How fortunate these young musicians were - I wonder where they are today and how much they took with them after this experience.

Bernstein was a genius. Humble, so humble. Didn't take himself too seriously. Great sense of humor. A true superstar as a conductor and composer. And, he was the greatest music teacher of all time. Music was his life, and therefore, he loved to teach like no one else before or after him.
That youthful twinkle and sparkle in their eyes as they hang on to his every word is amazing. It makes the piece that much more special
Lenny must have been such a wonderful wonderful man to work with in person. I love him.

Over 30 years have passed since this rehearsal, I would bet these wonderful, young artists still have clear memories of this incredible learning experience with such an iconic musician as Maestro Bernstein. It's so unfortunate that he ruined his health with smoking, I can hear the respiratory stress in his breathing.
Rudy Nyoff YES but he had asthma as a child and emphysema later and eventually a pleural tumour he already had a weak chest from birth, smoking simply speeded up the mortality process, with all his health issues he was extremely resilient and gave everything.

Stravinsky said that the Karajan recording is “duller than Disney’s dying dinosaurs,” referring to “Fantasia”, which uses dinosaurs rather than ancient Russian peasants adoring the earth, which is what “The Rite” is about.

Sacre du printemps, mein Lieblingsstück, als Posaunist.
Da ist (und war) für mich Modern-Jazz drinnen. Fast unspielbar, für viele.
Ja beglückend trifft ES. Ausdrucksstark nicht nur für SpätpuperTIEREnde.
... und (in Teil eins) unserer ungerufenen VOLKsvertreter immer im Vordergrund.
Zwei Gute, ein Gauner, die tatsächlich ES mein(t)en zu finanzieren.
Dabei größtenteils einen Notenschlüssel nicht von
einem Kloschlüssel unterscheiden können.
Im berufenem Orchester sind (bin sprachlos) nur sehr-sehr Gute Talente.
Haben DIE noch Kontakt untereinander. Was wohl aus denen geworden ist.
Von einigen Vorspann-Politikern wissen WIR es, unrühmlich ...
