I disagree with some of the comments here that the performance is too fast. I feel that Bruckner's music is generally played too slow, so loses momentum. This sounds and feels perfect to me!
If you want to see and hear a fantastic recording of this same piece of music go the Munich Philharmonic recording conducted by Celi with the late great Peter Sadlo on timpani
@duanedawson8562 I agree! I suppose different people have different tastes, but the NDR recording with Günter Wand conducting is what feels right to me. I just personally want to hear the whole ending as deliberate and drawn out as possible, I feel it's way more meaningful and epic that way. That's just me though.
This tempo feels just about perfect to me, though I also enjoy slower performances such as Wand. There’s no single correct interpretation and say it’s “way too fast” is just silly, especially since this is a fairly average tempo for it
What a horrible interpretation of what should be a slow, majestic climax, rushed through so quickly that you can hardly hear any of the counterpoint melodies of the other themes used in the symphony. Quite amateurish.

Bruckner music should be more fast than this bro
Totally agree! It’s only slightly faster than other recordings (and those others are so RIDICULOUSLY slow that it’s almost unbearable sometimes).
@@gavinyoung3873 E.g. Celibidache!
@@gyorgydorogman6974 Celibidache was a master in extending Bruckner (and others). I can't hear that anymore.
Old Anton Rocks .. 😎
Bravo ‼️
Lindo de mais 🎉

Good call. Thank you!
Tokyo 1990 .The best rendition by far.
He plays everything like he's swimming through molasses
Yes!!!!!!!!

👍👍
The ending was way too fast
Yeah, it’s definitely faster than what I’m used to hearing but I have to admit I was swayed by the clarity of the recording and the camera work.
No, still too slow. It should be breakneck.
The ending is PERFECT!!!! What are you talking about??!

Not sure what you’re hearing.
