Elf junge Dirigenten bewarben sich um die Teilnahme an einem Dirigentenkurs den Leonard Bernstein in Salzau leitete. Nur vier von ihnen durften mit dem weltberühmten Maestro arbeiten. "Sie machen mich stolz" lobte Bernstein die Nachwuchs-Dirigenten beim Abschlußkonzert.

Man, that was a horrible representation in the movie in my opinion. Totally missed the point. Could have done without it
Unglaubliche Erfahrung für diese junge Dirigenten. Obwohl sie nicht alle berümte Dirigenten wurden, haben sie alle von der Erfahrung riesig profitiert. Sie waren alle so begabt.
Even THEN Maestra Marin's intensity but good naturedness on display. Lenny CLEARLY saw something in her. She herself now teaches conducting at the Peabody Conservatory

Really, my question is, are all these wonderful students of the orchestra's management - potential conductors, who were lucky enough to do a master class with the best, today who manage? Where are they? This is a very important question ...?

The two best looking conductors (and not the best)got picked the students were right it was very biased.............and Bernstein was furious at being ignored and talked over by the conductor so he got up on the podium to teach him a lesson ,at the end at the live concert Bernstein walked in tipsy!! they certainly show the nuts and bolts in these documentaries of rehearsals.

I saw this documentary several times when I was a kid in the early 1990s. I always thought Olivier Holt was the best, but he didn't make it through the final.
Great to notice that Jeffrey Goldberg made it! I liked his approach to the music more than of any other conductor. He rehearsed and performed not selfish.
He was dreadful in this film.

wo kann ich die offizielle aufnahme finden? nur problen hab ich sehen koennen. danke
. ich beziehe mich auf Le sacre mit bernstein als dirigent.
Soweit ich weiß gibt es keine offizielle Aufnahme von "Le Sacre.." mit Bernstein und dem Schleswig-Holstein-Festival-Orchester.
Die Videos, die ich in TH-cam eingestellt habe, sind eine dreiteilige Dokumentation über Bernsteins Arbeit bei dem Festival, wie sie damals im TV gezeigt wurde.
Danke. ein paar videos mit den proben kann ich finden, es ist merkwuerdig dass es kein video mit dem ergebnis der proben gibt. danach suche ich gerade seit *jahren*. nichts. Heute werde ich mir mit grosser freude Ihre dreiteilige dokumentation ansehen. danke.
irgendwann habe ich irgendwo gelesen, es gebe ein offizielles DVD.
Einmal hab ich sogar das Orchester angeschrieben!

Bernstein was one of Alsop’s greatest influences and her hero. I highly doubt she was offended by that. They were true friendsZ
I think it's sort of outrageous that simply putting an arm around someone's shoulder is already considered sexual harassment...
It's affection - not groping, also she invited him to stay close. High touch nowhere near boobs or crotch or mouth. Both comfortable. (Both gay )
