Re-listening to this I am struck again by how calm and reasonable Johnny is trying to be and how absolutely off the rails Amber sounds. Living with someone like her must have been living hell for him I am so glad that Johnny has escaped her clutches. Let’s hope his life now becomes peaceful cos he surely deserves it.

I have nothing but the UTMOST respect for Mr. Depp admitting this and after seeing tons of court footage, it's clear he is the victim. Having money doesn't mean one ceases to be a human being. If this destroys the double standard then he's actually a hero.
It must not have been easy for Johnny to publicly admit, to not only himself, but to the world that he was a victim of domestic violence. Cases regarding male abuse victims are tragically underreported because there’s the stigma that comes with it. One of the great things that came out of this trial was that so many men had felt comfortable enough to open up and talk about their own experiences with domestic violence and abuse. I give Johnny Depp a lot of credit in changing the conversation in regards to abuse victims that allows more inclusivity and taking away some of the stigma behind being labeled as a male victim of domestic abuse.
She used words like STOP repeatedly and inappropriately while recording him, and he even said "Stop what?" I'm trying to leave. She said stop pushing me against the wall (and he seemed confused about that) and she tried to make it metaphorical (like backing me into a corner and poking me with a stick). A clearly set trap.

The recording at the start of this video is so telling. Depp comes across as sincere, genuine, calm, with intentions of avoiding conflict, whereas Heard comes across as unstable, manipulative and unable to manage a relationship. It’s really sad hearing someone react as she does, she needs therapy and she absolutely should not be in a relationship. It’s so toxic.

When he admitted he was the victim of domestic violence that took strength and courage. Men can and are victims of domestic violence. All too often they are silent victims. Im hopeful with the courage on display from Johnny Depp more men will come forward. It's time that domestic violence laws and the police that enforce them are not gender bias. Anyone can be a victim.

I was in one toxic relationship when I was young.. listening to this now and hearing everything that's being said I realise now I made the right call walking away. After watching the forensic psychologist’s testimony and diagnosis of Amber with BPD and HPD, her reaction to him wanting to walk away completely makes sense. The fear of abandonment and use of dramatics/victimization of herself to try and get him to stay all line up with what the psychologist explained as key traits of the disorders. I hope she gets the help she needs and I also hope that Johnny is able to clear his name and heal from the abuse he went through.

An abusive, controlling woman who can turn on a dime and play the victim is emotionally and psychologically draining. No person that is innocent wants to be accused of being a “child molester” or a “wife beater.” Once labeled with one of these heinous crime, you are guilty until proven innocent. The psychological and psychosocial consequences from being wrongfully accused can negatively impact the rest of that person’s life.

I think at this point it doesn't matter if he wins or looses. Everyone with some brain can see that she was and is the bad abusive person. This trial is about the articel and maybe that will make him loose. But the whole point of this trial is to show the world what really happens. After that trial he will be rehabilitated and he will get the respect again that he deserve!
Sadly, I actually don't think he will win. He would win hands down if this case was about him being abused. But it's a defamation trial. The attorney would probably try to show that this was an abusive relationship, and so she was right when she said she was a victim of domestic abuse, even if she did most of the abusing.
My consolation is that this trial isn't about him winning or losing anymore. It's so the world can see all he endured at the hands of this woman, clear his name, heal, and get his career back on track. And so we can see her for the abuser she is. In fact, it is even more broadly about men finally speaking out and truly being heard as victims of domestic violence at the hands of their female partners.

Thank you Johnny. My dad's name was Johnny RIP. He was in a domestic violence relationship that was ignored. The woman was so abusive and hit my dad in the head with a hammer. Thank God he was able to get away from her, with support from family.

Same. I am also a survivor of narc abuse, as well as physical abuse, and hearing HOW she phrases things, and how she yells and accuses him of doing the things that she her self was in that moment doing to him, was just not easy to hear.
I am also a victim of this type of behaviour in my marriage. It lasted 6 1/2 years and the divorce lasted 17 years.
Being very close to someone who has responded to many domestic abuse situations, I can tell you men suffer much more from domestic violence than the general public knows!

I had lost so much and had everything in my life destroyed, my life, mental and physical abuse, my credit, and almost lost my home. I was almost homeless. Narsacistic people will take all they can until they have drained everything in you including your last drop of blood if you are so far under your depression that you just want it to end and figure this is what will make it all stop and be over. I thank God that part of my life is over, but it has damaged me and my trust of others. I hope Johnny can move past this once this is all over and get his life and career back. Hearing this voice recording gives only a glimpse of what this man went through. This was daily life for him. This must have been so exhausting. He had to be in fight or flight mode all the time.
