I’m a psychologist, and the way this colleague is professionally ripping the test and explaining the disorders deserves nothing more than admiration, acknowledging and congratulations. I am amused by her confidence, her steady pose and the way she points out the details with very good examples and explanations. The best? There is no way Heard’s lawyers can find holes in this. The test is scientifically standardized and it has a lot of time in the psychology world. They are going to need a lot of help to minimize the damage. My deepest sympathies for the professional. What a woman!
As she explained there are numerous other tests as well, so she compiled data from many sources to come to her conclusions. She explained that while some are multiple choice or easy to 'fake';symptoms, that particular test has open ended statements so it's apparent when there is repeated exaggeration and malingering (faking symptoms). It's incredibly surreal to see it all unfold and her analysis of Amber. I have taken the MMPi2 3 times to be cleared to work/carry firearms. There's no way to "cheat" or sway these evaluations. If your goal is to "prove" something of your merit/personality or even fake something negatively it will flag and show. It isn't about "accuracy" as so much "discrepancies". This whole case has taken a turn as in a complete back fire on Amber.
Having forty years as a mental health professional, I can say this psychologist is very smart and well prepared. One of the best I’ve seen. Not only correct descriptions but excellent ability to describe terms and processes in understandable terms. The kind of examination of materials, interviews, testing etc. represents hours of concentrated work and very careful consideration. She’s done a thorough great job.
I just want to make sure I say that I really hope this doesn’t contribute any more to the stigma against BPD people in your industry, and I hope you guys are doing a lot of real work to stomp it out💞

@@randyevermore9323 Board-certification applies more to psychiatrists than psychologists, which means she needs to be an M.D. or any other doctoral degree to be board certified. She is a clinical psychologist and that means, by definition that she is not and can not be board-certified without a doctoral degree. I have not checked her educational background but even if she does have a doctoral degree she needs to apply for board-certification and pass the exams. Basically it is just an exam. Essentially they are trying to discredit her in any way possible.

You have to wonder if Ms Heard's attorneys are setting up for a mental incapacity defense when all else fails. I cannot understand why they kept silent throughout this slam-dunk testimony. I realize that the witness is compelling and difficult to refute, but lawyers are supposed to be smart cookies too.

When she started talking about emotional reactivity and how people suffering from BPD have a tendency to get physical to stop people from leaving because they fear abandonment is absolutely mind baffling me. She always tries to make it seem like she is such a good person when she is really not, the issue with her is that she can't really distinguish that what she's doing is wrong since she has nothing bad or hurtful in mind. I am a mental health professional and have issued the very test this clinician described on multiple occasions. She did a fantastic job explaining Amber Heard's disorder(s) and is helping to educate the public. I would be remiss if I did not also add that people suffering from personality disorders can, and often do NOT abuse others if they seek help and choose not to act on their impulses.
My now ex friend, is a great friend when on her meds, but when she stops taking them, she becomes so narcissistic. And I decided that I didn't want to be her punching bag again. She's also schizophrenic.
You are right I have BPD and there are various levels of this disorder but I do not go around abusing the people that I love and whether you’re on medication or not choices are still made I also suffer from bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder and you have to be able to first and foremost take responsibility for your own actions and your own words where things escalate is when a person is a narcissist and blames others for their actions and their words which is very clear in this case with the way that Amber treats Johnny. It’s very sad actually and one of the things I wanna mention is that for a person with severe BPD they are very well aware of what they are doing and saying they just don’t care

And that's with me having had that as a child also. You don't treat those you love and care about like that, very wrong and completely inexcusable. One shoe definitely does not fit all like people assume.
Holy crap she literally just described what everyone heard on the audio tapes. Amber saying it is “killing her” when he leaves in the middle of an argument. Johnny describing having to physically restrain her to get by her when she cornered him from room to room throughout the house. The initiating violence as a means to express this rage and then using resulting minor injuries from her own aggressive behavior as a weapon against Johnny to punish him for making her feel that way. Absolutely crazy how much this hits the nail on the head!
Omg totally makes sense. How she always complains that he is abandoning arguements midway and how she runs after him like an angry child would to a parent and bangs at his door. While Johnny is trying to cope and calm down so things don't escalate, she on the other hand doesn't make an effort to stop herself and is overcome by emotions that lead to these escalations.
This woman is amazing. As someone who has worked in mental health for 18 years, I would LOVE to attend a continuing education course given by her. She was so well prepared for this and her delivery of the information is phenomenal.
I've never seen this woman before, but she was amazing in her presentation. So clear, so precise and concise. This was almost a lecture for everyone, as well as a deposition.
Not to be a dick but this is direct testimony, answering questions posed by the party that called the witness. Deposition testimony is taken out of court usually at the request of the opposing party.

So impressed with this pychologist's ability to explain, in layman's terms, the ins and outs of personality disorders, to the point of using relative situations to illustrate how that plays out in relationships, situations, and circumstances. I'd take a course (or ten) from this doctor anyday! She summed up and backed up the entire scenario of these situations with Johnny and Amber by explaining borderline personality disorder succintly and how it plays out in real life. THIS is a professional doctor and witness, unlike the other psycholgoist who sounded like a defensive, biased unprofessional. Bravo!
Now compare that to the other psychiatrist and you'll see the night and day difference between a professional and a "professional", this statement is completely factual and based on evidence meanwhile the other testimony dodges talking about the actual tests administered, she lazily checks the boxes and half assedly fills out the forms, shorthands everything in her own 'style', and does nothing but refer to the victim as 'she' and the perpetrator as 'he' the entire time in a completely hypothetical scenario. All those words saying "he is the aggressor and she is the poor innocent victim who only lashes out in retaliation", all that based on hearsay and 90% of the garbage spewed out of her mouth started with "well amber told me this". Not once did Dr. Curry state even an ounce of hearsay and she gladly explained every little detail and then some about how her tests worked and how reliable they are when asked. The other 'therapist'' did nothing but bash a fellow practitioner in an attempt to discredit her but she also stated lies and misrepresented data the entire time, completely unwilling to discuss any test results even when being interrogated by the lawyers. Honestly, curry could go on for hours with interesting, factual, and relevant data and no one would even get the least bit bored meanwhile it was clear half the court tuned out 5 minutes into the other testimony and just like Dr. Curry predicted that buffoon said exactly what was foreseen, not a single fact uttered the entire time besides "Johnny does drugs" and also comedically the exact test Curry brought up; the one she proved that amber manipulated and purposefully fudged in an attempt to minimize her disorder... If that doesn't prove her credibility and lack thereof for the other psychiatrist then I don't know what would, she predicted the future by saying "here's the only test results the other 'expert' is going to bring up and here's how it's false and inaccurately filled in", and sure enough, what does she do? Brings up that exact test and jumps straight to hearsay and completely dodges anything and everything about the results... That lady needs to be disbarred and the "50 cases" that she testified on need to be reviewed and she needs jail time for the blatant sexism and abuse of the system she's shown in the court room. Curry ought to seek a defamation suit against her while we're at it, how has her blatant disregard for the tests and her obviously clouded and biased judgement made it this far without being caught or punished in the slightest???
I think borderline personality disorder has to come from CEN (Childhood emotional neglect). The parent basically teaches the child to ignore their inner feelings and conform to a certain image of “good behavior” to impress others, and not to be themselves. The child does not develop a sense of self, because they may believe it is selfish and sinful to focus on self and not others. Their identity is focused on pleasing others, and that gets exhausting. I don’t have borderline because I don’t hurt others, but I relate to some of the descriptions this lady was talking about, about the person confirming to what others expect, and great fear of rejection. Imagine putting in a ton of energy to make people like you, and then they still don’t; that can be very disturbing. I remember as a child, we were taught that it was selfish to focus on yourself, and to ignore our feelings and put on a facade of a certain image at church. I grew up with no sense of self and just mimicked others so they would like me, so I wouldn’t get rejected. 🤔 I have put great effort trying to build a sense of self separate from that over the years, because I knew it wasn’t a sustainable way to exist. But I can actually relate to this mindset. 😳

It's also interesting to note that, if you're someone who's been looking at this case and how AH behaves, or let's her facial expressions wander, you can see how defeated she looks as the doctors talks about these issues - she went from being pissed at one point and intensively writing, to now just looking tired and worn. I think this is the most natural I've seen her look the entire time.
I'm concerned how far they are going to push AH. Only in that BPD or straight bi- polar dx has a high rate of self harm and suicide. I mean, I understand that JD is innocent. Look into how fundamental attribution error plays a role in your ability to excuse yourself, give yourself grace...while vilifying others for their behaviors. Because of what causes extremism...causes more blindness to more, the farther either side one goes. The more moderate, open, types, are actually generally the most mentally well.

She is a rare one, with the heart and the smarts. Unfortunately, most psychs are only a little above average smarts; poor acuity of mental vision and hence poor ability to crisply define terms and to further describe and explain in clear pictorial language with examples. The industry needs more like her.
She has been spot on with her diagnosis of Amber. We've seen her behavior play out throughout this trial so far. It makes sense to me now why Amber looks directly to the jury when she's talking, because when Dr. Curry was explaining her diagnosis to the jury she was looking at them and actually engaging with them where as Amber is mimicking Dr. Curry and attempting to do the same. Dr. Curry definitely knows what she talking about, plus I've been thoroughly engaged while she's explaining her diagnosis of Amber. Dr.Curry has had my full attention throughout this entire video with her way of explaining Amber's mental disorders. If she had her own show I would definitely watch it.

I agree! So much of the behaviors she explained based on the results of MMPI were behaviors Johnny spoke of in his testimony, like how she got so upset when he broke her routine of taking his shoes off and getting the glass of wine himself. Something most of us wouldn't be bothered by.

i have bpd and she explained this so beautifully and articulately, just described the symptoms without any judgement words whatsoever, she managed to explain the hardest parts of the disorder without making me feel any shame around things that are actually really toxic, she's awesome

Amber is using every fiber of her being, all the skill she’s learned during her acting days to put on a brave face here in front of what could only be described as a humiliating experience. And she absolutely deserves it.
She's a psychotic. Sadly, a lot of psychos are actors because they learn to act emotions because they lack them. That's also why so many Hollywood relationships come to a crashing end or are short flings. They don't have any real emotions. They act. All the time. Heard is one of those people. Depp is a good guy, though he shows a few signs of the celeb life, he shows no signs of being psychotic.
I've never listened to a psychologist and wanted them to tell me everything about myself. She's clearly knowledgeable professional but also really relatable and scientific in explaining her judgements. Plus she's gorgeous without playing on it and her voice is really easy to listen to. I could listen to her lecture all day. I reckon a person could learn a lot from her.
It's not Johnny Depp's fault that Amber Heard has borderline personality disorder nor is he a therapist that he can fix her but the judge has to see that just because she has the personality disorder does not give her the right to destroy someone's else's whole life. It’s taken a Hollywood celebrity marriage breakup, suing one another, to demonstrate the utter contempt the So-called Justice System has for men who’re abused by their psychotic partners. How do these women get diagnosed with their illnesses, if the Police Believe their Lies, and arrest and jail the mentality and physically beaten man? To say there’re “No Winners” here, is an understatement of biblical proportions.
Same here. I have worked with many couples where the female is the main abuser. It is so unfortunate that such women often have nowhere to obtain help because when they tell a female therapist what they are doing, the therapist often minimises, excuses or justifies the woman's behaviour and shifts the blame to the man, and so the woman receives no help and sometime even receives reinforcement of her condition. And men are mostly disbelieved. I find my own colleagues and the wider counselling industry culture to be disappointing. We need to wake up to the fact that men and women are pretty close to equal in abusing each other, and in many if not most cases -- not all cases -- the abusive relationship is a mutual dynamic which both are contributing to in some way, actively or passively, or both.

This psychologist is sharp! She is an outstanding witness and speaks clearly and concisely in a manner that anyone can comprehend. I had a Mother with borderline personality disorder along with many other disorders and this testimony is spot on and clearly describes the disorders as well as the persons behavior attached to it. Thank god for this Psychologist and her wealth of information and intellect.
I had a grilfriend with BPD, no offense to your mother, but that most have been incredibly difficult to deal with. I have never been more confused, broken hearted, and well in pain more than I was in that relationship and the subsequent break up. I'm not sure what it was like with your mother, but the way the can make you feel like the most special and also worst person in the world is very confusing.

As a fellow Forensic Psychologist, I'm so glad to see people see what the profession is all about. Dr. Curry is presenting the data exactly as she should - the testing does not PROVE anything except that her scores are similar to that of others who also have these traits. And she's masterfully staying out of the pitfalls the defense keeps trying to trap her in. Although that said, the defense is just astoundingly bad. I can't help but think that any decent attorney met with Ms. Heard and said "nope."

Yep. This is probably not her first rodeo in expert witness testimony and she understands the limitations of her role, as well as the data she is working with. Continually referring to the research instead of the person is a key distinction of expert witness testimony, and allows her to maintain her objectivity. If she were to make any conclusions about Amber directly, they would likely be met with objections and she would be forced to rephrase her statements.
@@davemoody9263 It's interesting that yesterday when the witness was being cross examined by that female lawyer, it was established that this is the first time in all her 15 years of practice that this witness has been called to give expert witness testimony in court. It shows her level of professionalism and non-bias in her findings and testimony, and I'm sure this will help Johnny's case a great deal.
Doctorate, Master's Degree. Yeah she deserves something even higher. I'm blown away by how much more well spoken, clear, knowledgeable, fast and thorough she is than any other doctor I've seen speak on personality disorders.

As someone who suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) while I can relate to Amber’s mental and emotional disorder, it isn’t an excuse to treat people like trash, if anything it is to become conscious of ourselves, take responsibility, and always striving to become better. Don’t let anyone mistreat you because of their disorder, it isn’t an excuse.
@@itsjustmaddisen Thank you, however it wasn’t always like this. I can admit that, initially, growing up I was much like Amber. I was very angry, I was verbally and emotionally abusive, I blamed everyone, accepted no responsibility, and pushed away people who genuinely loved and cared for me but couldn’t keep setting themselves on fire to keep me warm. It took me awhile to realize that I was the problem, and even longer to realize that it didn’t have to be that way. While yes we need more awareness about mental and emotional health, we also can’t enable people that they can do whatever and use their mental disorder as a crutch to mistreat others because it is a viscous cycle that will only repeat itself until we hold ourselves accountable for our behavior. Elizabeth I also have BPD, and was exactly like you described. I couldn't have said these words better myself. I tell everyone that I constantly have to keep myself in check, because if I don't I can "slip up" and my old self will emerge. It's very difficult and hard to deal with especially with all the sigmatism around BPD. it is awful not only for those who have been on the"wrath side" of our disorder but also for us. Most my life it felt like I was in this deep fog with no clarity and scared, alone, etc. But then once I learned that I'm not mY BPD, can function normally and have normal emotions, and healthy boundaries it's like I woke up from that fog. It's like one day everything cleared up and I seen the world in a new light, like I had seen the sun for the first time.

Talking for a long time tends to require water, or fluid lubrication of some kind, to stop the vocal chords becoming too dry. I'm not sure her intent is to remind people to stay hydrated.
We don’t really have empathy for those with nasty personality disorders. If a psychopath murders, do we give them leniency for their illness? MAYBE Heard is dealing with something difficult, we can acknowledge it and learn from it for future, but a nasty person is a nasty person whether it’s from a disorder or not, and she is a nasty person that needs a learning experience.
@@done1961 Yes, my mother has been unapologetically nasty to me for years, to put it lightly and one of the only ways that I can feel sorry for her is that I wish her presumed Antisocial Personality Disorder wouldn't keep her from feeling true kindness, compassion and love. Textbooks can be somewhat useless (for lack of a better word) depending on who writes it. You might be getting someone who knows the field, but can't articulate/explain it or someone who doesn't even know the field very well, but has nepotism/luck in their favor and get to write the book.

We had the DSM IV at the time for reference but at UGA the course was basically guest speakers who were leaders in that specific behavioral study and they would lecture us on each one for a few hours a week. They talked about some of their cases and research. It was awesome!

To be fair two of the things you listed (education and being well spoken) she had to develop herself and attain herself. The other two she most certainly tries to preserve so that it's not wasted which is admirable. But I od agree with most women being beautiful as well as intelligent is rare indeed.
This is so helpful to anyone who has or had an intimate partner or family member (male or female) who has a personality disorder. Johnny stood up for all of us . Being lied about behind your back is a terrible thing.

I was in 10 years in relationship with women with BPD, and i know AH inside this was hardest time for her to listen all critic and couldn't gaslight, project, scream and abuse. I dont want to be person who received after this court day all anger what she have after this ....
I am a single father who lived every word and detail of a borderline partner with a child involved..... My son's mother never could accept the reality that she had anything wrong or any problem because she was just that good at hiding it to others. It is truly amazing that this testimony depicts even the ability to hide it so well. For the first 4 years of my son's life I endured every detail of the rage and behavior described here. I documented the behavior for almost 2 years only to have the court system mediator try to say that I also was mentally ill also. The court system was so broken that she had communicated with the social worker who was assigned to us prior to any meetings and filled her head with lies about me (including false accusations of sexual abuse to my own son) when they were not even supposed to be communicating. It was a literally an art form of how well she maintained looking like she was a victim. Any abuse I took from her behavior was all in my own home until I could finally evict her(with one month notice) from it, this made her go ballistic, damaging my car and throwing food at me. I went through four different attorneys before finally ending up with two women that were like angels sent from heaven. One of them specialized in women with borderline personality disorder (Irene renillo) in the other one was a judge (Denise rini). They immediately understood the severity of the situation and acted faster than anyone else I had gone to. Before even getting in front of a judge they were able to get me residential custody of my son. Want to see a grown man cry? I did that day knowing it was finally over. Even listening to this testimony I was still educated more on border lines.even though surreal and brought back terrible memories of this painful awful time in my life trying to protect my own son. For any other men out there that are stuck in this situation the longer you stick around the worse it gets. For the sake of your children please seek the legal help you need....

@@reillydowd5366 if you have enough samples to base your exam upon then that’ll make the confidence level scientifically acceptable enough for the exam to be used as an official psychological test. You bring up a fair point but this is the same thing with IQ tests. They’re not perfect, but they’re the best thing we’ve got. And they’ve shown to work through collections of empirical evidence. It’s not the same thing as zodiacs or hand readings (as much as I want it to be, personally).
Because she is an expert and has a doctorate. Also she is used to court proceedings, so she knows what precisely what language to use so that she is not rudely interrupted. It's not heresy because she is talking about general symptoms of having these disorders that clearly defined by the DSM.

The moment I heard about Amber Heard I knew she has BPD. I have it and the things she does is highly relatable. People want to sugar coat it and say we arent actually trying to hurt people- stop the bull. If you hurt our feelings we will treat you as if you are our worst enemy. Soothe our feelings and we then idolize you. I loved all my exes but treated them terribly when they upset me and then denied it and try to justify my actions. Its until now where I actually got the help I need and realize when I am acting irrationally and what I can do to stop it and calm down.
As a victim of an abuser who I suspect had BPD (he never went to therapy so it is not confirmed, though I am in uni for psych and as the years pass it only confirms this for me) Thank you for admitting that even though you loved your partners, you treated them terribly and then denied it. My ex would never admit that, and that is the part that really hurts so fricken much. To put a person through so much, and then just say you didn't at all!! So, thank you for getting help, thank you for seeing errors in your past ways, and thank you for admitting those errors instead of hiding them in a little box in your mind.

I generally don't trust psychological professionals when they want to weigh into my own life, but it's clear to me that the actually good ones like this woman - do know what they are talking about. It's just a shame they can share the same accreditations with others whom have no idea or clue about ANY of it. They don't understand the basics of the info they memorised at school. Implementation is everything to these psychos.
This is absolutely exonerating for Johnny Depp. It shows Amber's traumas were not caused by him and he's not abusive. I took the same exact test during my divorce, same results. Hopefully it goes as well for Johnny

I think after hearing this psychologist's analysis it's VERY CLEAR that Amber's allegations are fictionalised symptoms of her personality disorder, and she was simply driving Johnny absolutely freaking insane with her unpredictable and nonsensical behaviour.
The way this psychologist describes Amber is word for word the same behavior of my ex-gf. She would give herself bruises and black eyes whenever she was unhappy with me.. and constantly fabricated literally everything with me. As a master's level therapist working on my doctorate with a focus on assessment, I can say that she did a really wonderful job breaking down very complex assessments and making them understandable for a layperson while still capturing the results.
@@lady7571 In my experience, Borderline and Narcissistic personality disorders share similarities and are often mistaken for one another. There may be traits there, but overall I believe that the psychologist felt her presentation was better explained by BPD than NPD.
I think this is public lynching. Medical records should be sealed in court, this is a violation of human rights. The crime is defamation not her mental health. We just need to proof what she accused him it’s not true. I am with Johnny but I don’t like public lynching. Besides you can’t judge someone if you don’t know them. A test is prejudicial. If I was the judge I would not even listen. It’s a prejudicial report against her rights. I’ll bet you everyone of us would have similar results. It’s not an exact science subject to interpretación and be prejudicial.
Looking at how Dr. Curry describes such complex topics shows that she is truly a profound speaker and educator! My sibling has been struggling with severe borderline personality disorder for years, which has resulted in the manifestation of many of the traits that Dr. Curry is explaining - rage, explosiveness, self-harm, externalized blame, and power struggles in relationships. I've studied human behaviour and dual diagnosis (special needs and mental illnesses) professionally and personally, and everything that Dr. Curry is saying is spot-on!
I think she's made me realise why i've been following this case so much and why I even care. My sister has this disorder, she put me through hell as teens and it just hits home so much all the stuff this woman has said.

My therapist and I worked together for years to figure out that my sister and mom were so toxic and dangerous for my and my family’s life, well-being-mental, emotional, and physical. It was so painful to go no contact and cut them out of our lives, however, the positive impact this had on all our lives was noticeable within weeks.. I have BPD, C-PTSD, severe anxiety disorder, and major depression. Emotional regulation is possible IF YOU WORK AT IT! It requires a lot of self awareness and being able to be brutally honest with yourself and allow yourself to get constructive criticism from your closest loved ones that have your best interests at heart. My therapist has worked with my family and I as a whole, individually, in pairs… I am doing my damndest to make sure my children are getting their needs met, plus more, my husband and I have a healthy relationship, and so I can be the best mother, wife, and person possible. It’s hard but it’s worth it!
I think we all have experienced a little of what Amber did to Johnny and some have been on the other end and acted like Amber. It happens way more than others want to admit in toxic families or relationships

I’m a psychologist, and the way this colleague is professionally ripping the test and explaining the disorders deserves nothing more than admiration, acknowledging and congratulations. I am amused by her confidence, her steady pose and the way she points out the details with very good examples and explanations.
The best? There is no way Heard’s lawyers can find holes in this. The test is scientifically standardized and it has a lot of time in the psychology world. They are going to need a lot of help to minimize the damage.

She explained that while some are multiple choice or easy to 'fake';symptoms, that particular test has open ended statements so it's apparent when there is repeated exaggeration and malingering (faking symptoms). Hahaha Heard!!;She really thinks she is the smartest one in the room, but nope GTF outta here with that ish Bish! 😂

It's incredibly surreal to see it all unfold and her analysis of Amber. I have taken the MMPi2 3 times to be cleared to work/carry firearms. There's no way to "cheat" or sway these evaluations. If your goal is to "prove" something of your merit/personality or even fake something negatively it will flag and show. It isn't about "accuracy" as so much "discrepancies". This whole case has taken a turn as in a complete back fire on Amber.

Having forty years as a mental health professional, I can say this psychologist is very smart and well prepared. One of the best I’ve seen. Not only correct descriptions but excellent ability to describe terms and processes in understandable terms. The kind of examination of materials, interviews, testing etc. represents hours of concentrated work and very careful consideration. She’s done a thorough great job.
I just want to make sure I say that I really hope this doesn’t contribute any more to the stigma against BPD people in your industry, and I hope you guys are doing a lot of real work to stomp it out💞

She is a clinical psychologist and that means, by definition that she is not and can not be board-certified without a doctoral degree. I have not checked her educational background but even if she does have a doctoral degree she needs to apply for board-certification and pass the exams. Basically it is just an exam.

I am a mental health professional and have issued the very test this clinician described on multiple occasions. She did a fantastic job explaining Amber Heard's disorder(s) and is helping to educate the public. I would be remiss if I did not also add that people suffering from personality disorders can, and often do NOT abuse others if they seek help and choose not to act on their impulses.
My now ex friend, is a great friend when on her meds, but when she stops taking them, she becomes so narcissistic.
And I decided that I didn't want to be her punching bag again.

You are right I have BPD and there are various levels of this disorder but I do not go around abusing the people that I love and whether you’re on medication or not choices are still made I also suffer from bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder and you have to be able to first and foremost take responsibility for your own actions and your own words where things escalate is when a person is a narcissist and blames others for their actions and their words which is very clear in this case with the way that Amber treats Johnny. It’s very sad actually and one of the things I wanna mention is that for a person with severe BPD they are very well aware of what they are doing and saying they just don’t care

Holy crap she literally just described what everyone heard on the audio tapes. Amber saying it is “killing her” when he leaves in the middle of an argument. Johnny describing having to physically restrain her to get by her when she cornered him from room to room throughout the house. The initiating violence as a means to express this rage and then using resulting minor injuries from her own aggressive behavior as a weapon against Johnny to punish him for making her feel that way. Absolutely crazy how much this hits the nail on the head!

So impressed with this pychologist's ability to explain, in layman's terms, the ins and outs of personality disorders, to the point of using relative situations to illustrate how that plays out in relationships, situations, and circumstances. I'd take a course (or ten) from this doctor anyday! She summed up and backed up the entire scenario of these situations with Johnny and Amber by explaining borderline personality disorder succintly and how it plays out in real life. THIS is a professional doctor and witness, unlike the other psycholgoist who sounded like a defensive, biased unprofessional. Bravo!
if you can't explain something in its simplest form you don't understand it well enough, she knows her stuff like!!
Now compare that to the other psychiatrist and you'll see the night and day difference between a professional and a "professional", this statement is completely factual and based on evidence meanwhile the other testimony dodges talking about the actual tests administered, she lazily checks the boxes and half assedly fills out the forms, shorthands everything in her own 'style', and does nothing but refer to the victim as 'she' and the perpetrator as 'he' the entire time in a completely hypothetical scenario. All those words saying "he is the aggressor and she is the poor innocent victim who only lashes out in retaliation", all that based on hearsay and 90% of the garbage spewed out of her mouth started with "well amber told me this".
Not once did Dr. Curry state even an ounce of hearsay and she gladly explained every little detail and then some about how her tests worked and how reliable they are when asked. The other 'therapist'' did nothing but bash a fellow practitioner in an attempt to discredit her but she also stated lies and misrepresented data the entire time, completely unwilling to discuss any test results even when being interrogated by the lawyers. Honestly, curry could go on for hours with interesting, factual, and relevant data and no one would even get the least bit bored meanwhile it was clear half the court tuned out 5 minutes into the other testimony and just like Dr. Curry predicted that buffoon said exactly what was foreseen, not a single fact uttered the entire time besides "Johnny does drugs" and also comedically the exact test Curry brought up; the one she proved that amber manipulated and purposefully fudged in an attempt to minimize her disorder...
If that doesn't prove her credibility and lack thereof for the other psychiatrist then I don't know what would, she predicted the future by saying "here's the only test results the other 'expert' is going to bring up and here's how it's false and inaccurately filled in", and sure enough, what does she do? Brings up that exact test and jumps straight to hearsay and completely dodges anything and everything about the results... That lady needs to be disbarred and the "50 cases" that she testified on need to be reviewed and she needs jail time for the blatant sexism and abuse of the system she's shown in the court room. Curry ought to seek a defamation suit against her while we're at it, how has her blatant disregard for the tests and her obviously clouded and biased judgement made it this far without being caught or punished in the slightest???

I think borderline personality disorder has to come from CEN (Childhood emotional neglect). The parent basically teaches the child to ignore their inner feelings and conform to a certain image of “good behavior” to impress others, and not to be themselves. The child does not develop a sense of self, because they may believe it is selfish and sinful to focus on self and not others. Their identity is focused on pleasing others, and that gets exhausting. I don’t have borderline because I don’t hurt others, but I relate to some of the descriptions this lady was talking about, about the person confirming to what others expect, and great fear of rejection. Imagine putting in a ton of energy to make people like you, and then they still don’t; that can be very disturbing. I remember as a child, we were taught that it was selfish to focus on yourself, and to ignore our feelings and put on a facade of a certain image at church. I grew up with no sense of self and just mimicked others so they would like me, so I wouldn’t get rejected. 🤔 I have put great effort trying to build a sense of self separate from that over the years, because I knew it wasn’t a sustainable way to exist. But I can actually relate to this mindset. 😳

It's also interesting to note that, if you're someone who's been looking at this case and how AH behaves, or let's her facial expressions wander, you can see how defeated she looks as the doctors talks about these issues - she went from being pissed at one point and intensively writing, to now just looking tired and worn. She is a rare one, with the heart and the smarts. Unfortunately, most psychs are only a little above average smarts; poor acuity of mental vision and hence poor ability to crisply define terms and to further describe and explain in clear pictorial language with examples. The industry needs more like her.
She has been spot on with her diagnosis of Amber. We've seen her behavior play out throughout this trial so far. It makes sense to me now why Amber looks directly to the jury when she's talking, because when Dr. Curry was explaining her diagnosis to the jury she was looking at them and actually engaging with them where as Amber is mimicking Dr. Curry and attempting to do the same. Dr. Curry definitely knows what she talking about, plus I've been thoroughly engaged while she's explaining her diagnosis of Amber. Dr.Curry has had my full attention throughout this entire video with her way of explaining Amber's mental disorders. If she had her own show I would definitely watch it.

I agree! So much of the behaviors she explained based on the results of MMPI were behaviors Johnny spoke of in his testimony, like how she got so upset when he broke her routine of taking his shoes off and getting the glass of wine himself. Something most of us wouldn't be bothered by.

SMART TO NOT PERSONALIZT THE mental illness to Her she spoke directly about the symptoms and typical details of how it affects those who do functim with it. Feels like she just gave the jury the play book to apply to the prior testimony and marinate for days as the doors and clarity of everything makes to much a clear answer. Also if she testifies the doc gave the info on how th magic trick work thus delivering the misdirection and ah of the Magician. Her testimony of she is the victim is gonna start to not work and the narrative and control someone who abuses by manipulation may just start to show with her. She didn't act upset that the doc is insinuating she is a danger and mentally ill. She acted sissmissice and rolled her eyes. There hasn't been any sense of personal self awarness of having sickness our done anything wrong and is feeling almost like look what you made me do. I'm no genius but many past boy friends bolted quickly and their are many. Are they prey that got away? Just sayin

That's also why so many Hollywood relationships come to a crashing end or are short flings. They don't have any real emotions. They act. All the time. Heard is one of those people. I've never listened to a psychologist and wanted them to tell me everything about myself. She's clearly knowledgeable professional but also really relatable and scientific in explaining her judgements.
Plus she's gorgeous without playing on it and her voice is really easy to listen to. I could listen to her lecture all day. I reckon a person could learn a lot from her.

Same here. I have worked with many couples where the female is the main abuser. It is so unfortunate that such women often have nowhere to obtain help because when they tell a female therapist what they are doing, the therapist often minimises, excuses or justifies the woman's behaviour and shifts the blame to the man, and so the woman receives no help and sometime even receives reinforcement of her condition. And men are mostly disbelieved. I find my own colleagues and the wider counselling industry culture to be disappointing. We need to wake up to the fact that men and women are pretty close to equal in abusing each other, and in many if not most cases -- not all cases -- the abusive relationship is a mutual dynamic which both are contributing to in some way, actively or passively, or both.

I had a grilfriend with BPD, no offense to your mother, but that most have been incredibly difficult to deal with. I have never been more confused, broken hearted, and well in pain more than I was in that relationship and the subsequent break up. I'm not sure what it was like with your mother, but the way the can make you feel like the most special and also worst person in the world is very confusing.

As a fellow Forensic Psychologist, I'm so glad to see people see what the profession is all about. Dr. Curry is presenting the data exactly as she should - the testing does not PROVE anything except that her scores are similar to that of others who also have these traits. And she's masterfully staying out of the pitfalls the defense keeps trying to trap her in. Although that said, the defense is just astoundingly bad. I can't help but think that any decent attorney met with Ms. Heard and said "nope."

Yep. This is probably not her first rodeo in expert witness testimony and she understands the limitations of her role, as well as the data she is working with. Continually referring to the research instead of the person is a key distinction of expert witness testimony, and allows her to maintain her objectivity. If she were to make any conclusions about Amber directly, they would likely be met with objections and she would be forced to rephrase her statements.
This woman is brilliant. Humanity should be grateful for her.

She can't speculate about what caused her personality disorders (it's not proven what does actually cause them), she can only attest to what the personality test results showed and decribe THOSE disorders. As someone who suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) while I can relate to Amber’s mental and emotional disorder, it isn’t an excuse to treat people like trash, if anything it is to become conscious of ourselves, take responsibility, and always striving to become better. Don’t let anyone mistreat you because of their disorder, it isn’t an excuse.

I was very angry, I was verbally and emotionally abusive, I blamed everyone, accepted no responsibility, and pushed away people who genuinely loved and cared for me but couldn’t keep setting themselves on fire to keep me warm. It took me awhile to realize that I was the problem, and even longer to realize that it didn’t have to be that way. While yes we need more awareness about mental and emotional health, we also can’t enable people that they can do whatever and use their mental disorder as a crutch to mistreat others because it is a viscous cycle that will only repeat itself until we hold ourselves accountable for our behavior. I tell everyone that I constantly have to keep myself in check, because if I don't I can "slip up" and my old self will emerge. It's very difficult and hard to deal with especially with all the sigmatism around BPD. it is awful not only for those who have been on the"wrath side" of our disorder but also for us.
Most my life it felt like I was in this deep fog with no clarity and scared, alone, etc. But then once I learned that I'm not mY BPD, can function normally and have normal emotions, and healthy boundaries it's like I woke up from that fog. It's like one day everything cleared up and I seen the world in a new light, like I had seen the sun for the first time.

Not that I'm siding with Amber Heard, but this is as believable as a zodiac sign fortune. She's basing ALL of this on a questionnaire that exclusively allows true or false to be selected. The determination of a written personality test that allows 1 of only 2 inputs, is inherently incredibly subjective. With the right series of questions, you could determine anyone to be anything. If that is professional psychology, then that is pure non-sense. More likely it is judicial system influenced BS.
Her report is too damning though and that raises my eyebrows.

Textbooks can be somewhat useless (for lack of a better word) depending on who writes it. You might be getting someone who knows the field, but can't articulate/explain it or someone who doesn't even know the field very well, but has nepotism/luck in their favor and get to write the book.

We had the DSM IV at the time for reference but at UGA the course was basically guest speakers who were leaders in that specific behavioral study and they would lecture us on each one for a few hours a week. They talked about some of their cases and research. It was awesome!

This was like having therapy. In half hour she described my abusive ex wife perfectly. Somehow I feel better about her as I know all the vile things she accused me off were her disorders not mine.

I was in 10 years in relationship with women with BPD, and i know AH inside this was hardest time for her to listen all critic and couldn't gaslight, project, scream and abuse. I dont want to be person who received after this court day all anger what she have after this ....

I am a single father who lived every word and detail of a borderline partner with a child involved..... My son's mother never could accept the reality that she had anything wrong or any problem because she was just that good at hiding it to others. It is truly amazing that this testimony depicts even the ability to hide it so well. For the first 4 years of my son's life I endured every detail of the rage and behavior described here. I documented the behavior for almost 2 years only to have the court system mediator try to say that I also was mentally ill also. The court system was so broken that she had communicated with the social worker who was assigned to us prior to any meetings and filled her head with lies about me (including false accusations of sexual abuse to my own son) when they were not even supposed to be communicating. It was a literally an art form of how well she maintained looking like she was a victim.
Any abuse I took from her behavior was all in my own home until I could finally evict her(with one month notice) from it, this made her go ballistic, damaging my car and throwing food at me. I went through four different attorneys before finally ending up with two women that were like angels sent from heaven. One of them specialized in women with borderline personality disorder (Irene renillo) in the other one was a judge (Denise rini). They immediately understood the severity of the situation and acted faster than anyone else I had gone to. Before even getting in front of a judge they were able to get me residential custody of my son. Want to see a grown man cry? I did that day knowing it was finally over.
Even listening to this testimony I was still educated more on border lines.even though surreal and brought back terrible memories of this painful awful time in my life trying to protect my own son.
For any other men out there that are stuck in this situation the longer you stick around the worse it gets. For the sake of your children please seek the legal help you need....

Her explaining how people with this personality disorder go from idealising people to thinking as lowly as possible about them matches perfectly with Amber's testimony of how she had this perfect image of Johnny and then suddenly he was a monster. She continues to put nails in her own coffin.

Not that I'm siding with Amber Heard, but this is as believable as a zodiac sign fortune. She's basing ALL of this on a questionnaire that exclusively allows true or false to be selected. The determination of a written personality test that allows 1 of only 2 inputs, is inherently incredibly subjective. With the right series of questions, you could determine anyone to be anything. If that is professional psychology, then that is pure non-sense. More likely it is judicial system influenced BS.
@@reillydowd5366 if you have enough samples to base your exam upon then that’ll make the confidence level scientifically acceptable enough for the exam to be used as an official psychological test. You bring up a fair point but this is the same thing with IQ tests. They’re not perfect, but they’re the best thing we’ve got. And they’ve shown to work through collections of empirical evidence. It’s not the same thing as zodiacs or hand readings (as much as I want it to be, personally).

Because she is an expert and has a doctorate. Also she is used to court proceedings, so she knows what precisely what language to use so that she is not rudely interrupted. It's not heresy because she is talking about general symptoms of having these disorders that clearly defined by the DSM.

If not diagnosed then I believe Johnny got this in the bag. If diagnosed I still believe Johnny has this simply because it would help the fact that she did beat him.

The moment I heard about Amber Heard I knew she has BPD. I have it and the things she does is highly relatable. People want to sugar coat it and say we arent actually trying to hurt people- stop the bull. If you hurt our feelings we will treat you as if you are our worst enemy. Soothe our feelings and we then idolize you. I loved all my exes but treated them terribly when they upset me and then denied it and try to justify my actions. Its until now where I actually got the help I need and realize when I am acting irrationally and what I can do to stop it and calm down.

As a victim of an abuser who I suspect had BPD (he never went to therapy so it is not confirmed, though I am in uni for psych and as the years pass it only confirms this for me)

I generally don't trust psychological professionals when they want to weigh into my own life, but it's clear to me that the actually good ones like this woman - do know what they are talking about. It's just a shame they can share the same accreditations with others whom have no idea or clue about ANY of it. They don't understand the basics of the info they memorised at school. Implementation is everything to these psychos.
This is absolutely exonerating for Johnny Depp. It shows Amber's traumas were not caused by him and he's not abusive. I took the same exact test during my divorce, same results. Hopefully it goes as well for Johnny

I think after hearing this psychologist's analysis it's VERY CLEAR that Amber's allegations are fictionalised symptoms of her personality disorder, and she was simply driving Johnny absolutely freaking insane with her unpredictable and nonsensical behaviour.
The way this psychologist describes Amber is word for word the same behavior of my ex-gf. She would give herself bruises and black eyes whenever she was unhappy with me.. and constantly fabricated literally everything with me. It was impossible to see at first, until I'd already wasted a year with her
The question is if that leads to diminished capacity on her part.

@@tobitaktlos3241 I believe so, in a part, but she still deserves punishment, other wise she will believe she did nothing wrong, and that her mental illness allows her to be able to be abusive. I have borderline personality disorder, and have a very difficult in relationships, as I always push people away, but make them feel like it’s their fault, trying to create a codependency, and a appearance of codependency on my part. I don’t allow myself relationships rn, as I am still sick and working on my mental illness. I guarantee you that Amber feels as if she isn’t guilty

As a master's level therapist working on my doctorate with a focus on assessment, I can say that she did a really wonderful job breaking down very complex assessments and making them understandable for a layperson while still capturing the results.
Do you think that Her diagnosis may include a little bit of npd? She seems to have less remorse like she doesn't even care.
@@lady7571 In my experience, Borderline and Narcissistic personality disorders share similarities and are often mistaken for one another. There may be traits there, but overall I believe that the psychologist felt her presentation was better explained by BPD than NPD.

Besides you can’t judge someone if you don’t know them. A test is prejudicial. If I was the judge I would not even listen. It’s a prejudicial report against her rights. I’ll bet you everyone of us would have similar results. It’s not an exact science subject to interpretación and be prejudicial.

Looking at how Dr. Curry describes such complex topics shows that she is truly a profound speaker and educator! My sibling has been struggling with severe borderline personality disorder for years, which has resulted in the manifestation of many of the traits that Dr. Curry is explaining - rage, explosiveness, self-harm, externalized blame, and power struggles in relationships. I've studied human behaviour and dual diagnosis (special needs and mental illnesses) professionally and personally, and everything that Dr. Curry is saying is spot-on!
I think she's made me realise why i've been following this case so much and why I even care. My sister has this disorder, she put me through hell as teens and it just hits home so much all the stuff this woman has said.
this case is bringing this topic to the surface for so many, making it a public discussion which is great!

My therapist and I worked together for years to figure out that my sister and mom were so toxic and dangerous for my and my family’s life, well-being-mental, emotional, and physical. It was so painful to go no contact and cut them out of our lives, however, the positive impact this had on all our lives was noticeable within weeks.. I have BPD, C-PTSD, severe anxiety disorder, and major depression. Emotional regulation is possible IF YOU WORK AT IT! It requires a lot of self awareness and being able to be brutally honest with yourself and allow yourself to get constructive criticism from your closest loved ones that have your best interests at heart. My therapist has worked with my family and I as a whole, individually, in pairs… I am doing my damndest to make sure my children are getting their needs met, plus more, my husband and I have a healthy relationship, and so I can be the best mother, wife, and person possible. It’s hard but it’s worth it!
I think we all have experienced a little of what Amber did to Johnny and some have been on the other end and acted like Amber. It happens way more than others want to admit in toxic families or relationships
