  • Johnny Depp witness Richard Edward Marks, an entertainment attorney hired by the actor to analyze the impact of ex-wife Amber Heard's op-ed in the Washington Post, was asked about negative stories written about Depp prior to Heard's story. When asked about The Sun article, for which Depp sued the newspaper in the UK and lost, Marks noted that the paper "came to prominence by publishing topless women on page 3."

    • @KitKat_293

      Exactly because any and all of the negative publicity Depp had before the op-ed was completely commonplace, run of the mill negativity or gossip to the same degree if not less than other actors of his level of fame. It gets completely lost in the noise for audiences and producers when all of his contemporaries have a similar story running about the actor doing something embarrassing in public. When an actor is accused of rape and domestic violence, it stands out as a serious matter to everyone. And it was an enormous story. I remember feeling disgusted at Depp at the time, and no longer saw him as a person but as some kind of tyrannical monster. Now that it has come to light he was being abused at home by his wife and trying to protect his abuser as people do, that his accuser was this same ex wife that used to hit him for staying out too late, that his accuser was deeply abusive and domestically violent to him, and tried to flip the script as punishment for him wanting to end the relationship: Their grounds for defamation are staggering. Amber Heard is being sued for her part in putting together the first article which had Johnny's name and to some extent the "abuse" she suffered. However the article was edited the next day to exclude key details but the damage was already done. These lawyers are aware of this and have been trying desperately to get the witnesses to recognize that second article as fact rather than it's initial release.

    • @ambzerambzer8800
      @ambzerambzer8800 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      In a very minor way the article reading makes sense, since Johnny is suing for an article that was written about him, not only due to the untruth in it but due to the fact it damaged his reputation.
      And I guess it could be questioned why he didn’t sue the rest (though he did have a lawsuit with one or some)
      And question why the other articles didn’t damage his rep etc
      Idk just minorly I get it, but not really 😂 I wish the lawyer explained his reasoning for reading the titles the other day.

    • @mindhackz
      @mindhackz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      It’s pretty clear what they’re angling for. They are trying to convey that her oped was no more or less observant of Johnnys alleged behavior than hers. They’re trying to equivocate his eccentricities to his alleged abuse which we know is absurd but it’s about angling to a jury.
      In other words, they’re trying the “Everyone’s hates Johnny, so is her op-ed so bad?” Except domestic abuse is not drug use. It’s a completely different and far worse problem as it involves abuse of another person other than yourself. But they want to equivocate and conflate the two.
      It’s obvious why many lawyers wouldn’t want to take Heards case because this is a very flimsy farcical stance
      All the witnesses see through this and go right back to “Domestic abuse is more severe and egregious than Johnny’s self inflicted drug abuse”.
      That is why this case seems so ridiculous because it is.

  • @themanifester1807
    @themanifester1807 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2583

    This is a very aggressive interrogation, judge shouldn’t nave allowed such abuse of the witnesses.
    For the record, I am a bank auditor myself, and some would say that I am quite ruthless. But this process of interrogation does not let the facts to come to light completely and accurately. Which is AH’s attorneys’ whole point, I suppose. And this is why courts should not allow such an interrogation style to begin with - if their goal is to reveal the facts, that is.

      Cause at the end of the day, it's not a secret and it never was. Depp himself would tell people and never shied away from the fact that he did do all those things. He never tried to portray himself as a "holier than thou" saint that didn't abuse substances. It's nothing new so when you hear "Depp does a mega line of crack on the back of his yatch" almost everyone's reaction would be like "k" cause it's nothing we've never heard before. And better yet, everyone knew but still loved him cause he has done so much to help others and give back to people and the world that the simple fact he abuses substances doesn't make people forget all the good hes done. Obviously there's people who do see him as a monster or whatever due to the fact he uses drugs and drinks but the majority of the people couldn't care less about Depps substance abuse cause he's shown us time and time again, that his addictions aren't the only thing to Johnny Depp.

He volunteered for my non profit Make A Film Foundation and gave of himself completely selflessly for hours and hours- as a volunteer. One can never know the complete truth in scenarios like this- but he has seemingly been consistently kind in the world when he has all his wits about him. Clearly both need some mental and emotional help and support. I hope this gets healed somehow. He was outstanding with our kids and all of the people on the set. He will always hold a special place in my heart because of how he contributed to Anthony Conti in his final weeks of life. He helped make this kids film dream come true in the most brilliant way. Thank you for sharing…is there anywhere we can view Anthony’s film? JD’s capacity for love and generosity to others is endless, but especially kids, or ‘kiddies’ as he says. Sick kiddies totally grip his heart, there’s a long standing rumour that he Carries what he calls his ‘Jack in the box’ with him at all times- a box with his Capt Jack Sparrow costume, and will dress up and visit the kids hospitals without the cameras or media. Apparently it’s a regular thing that he’s been doing as long as Pirates has been a bit.
      I also grew up on the sick kid wards. I saw some of my best friends dying to diseases which are beyond adult comprehension. JD carries himself with the spirit of his inner child- a child who is cloaked in deep thought and an always looming heaviness.
      In many ways, he reminds me of MJ.
      He has an organic ability to play, and to connect with children and young people on their level. He meets them -everyone, actually- where they’re at.
      I’ve no doubt that just as Anthony’s family carries JD in their hearts always, JD carries Anthony and family in his own heart.
      Rest brightly Anthony x

    Why is a lawyer allowed to ask a witness questions about a handful of tabloid articles, yet completely shut down a witness's recollection of something they personally witnessed with "OBJECTION, HEARSAY!". This is an absolutely mockery of justice. The number of tabloid articles suggesting his career was in decline - and even that is JUST this lawyer's interpretation - is MEANINGLESS without the number of POSITIVE articles worldwide. 24:47 If Amber has serious mental health issues then it's very possible that she's not making accusations of abuse solely for personal gain but it could also be in effort to harm Depp. In some previous clips from the trial, I've noticed instances where she appears to enjoy Depps pain and will make efforts to watch Depp in times where there is a chance that he'll be hurt (e.g. audio recordings where he's being called a name, especially if he was unaware of the name calling such as the instance when a man calls him an "idiot" while Depp is unwell). Her behaviour suggests she indeed enjoys seeing Depp harmed which is unusual, in my experience, for an abused victim. Abused victims are more concerned with getting away from their abuser.

      I had such pleasure in 2008 and another one is coming soon this year. All from a crazy ex of mine who threw oranges and stones at my window at 3.30am, breaking the window and my nose. And now all my firearms, a precious handmade knives collection and even some expensive carpenter tools are gone and license revoked, because she SAID i threatened her. And then i had to answer to hundreds of malicious questions twisted in such a way, that it took all my brain power to avoid all the landmines and traps her lawyer was laying for me. Yes, i feel his pain.
      The 'funniest' thing is one of the officers who delivered papers at my house few days ago, looked at my doomed face and said "Don't worry son, a b!tche's word had ruined many men, you only lost your toys, some lost their freedom". 14 years on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of one lie.
