This is what I am dealing with at the moment. I have a 92 Suzuki intruder 1400. Well, it was titled as a 96 . But I found out that it had a 92 motor while rewiring the entire bike from scratch when I realized that the two harnesses were not the same and I had been troubleshooting the wrong diagram. What I have learned so far is that the igniter or CDi or whatever you want to call it really does nothing but monitor all the safety switches on the bike and make a determination whether it will send spark to the coils or not. I threw away the CDI in about 90% of my wiring harness and all the relays and ran the pickup directly to the coil along with a moto gadget m unit and that's all she needed. No it doesn't have all the safety features it's supposed to. And I'm glad because I didn't want that shit anyway so you can get around it if you want to . This is a great video by the way

holy crap I never knew about the M unit. I have an 05 Vulcan 1500 that wont spark and I have replaced pretty much the whole system other than the ECU (it's still in the mail) if that doesn't work I'm getting an M unit.

@@VIP854 I got rid of the Suzuki and now I have a 00 Vulcan 1500fi. Well it was a 1500. I put a 1600 on it from a low mileage mean streak. I've got the power commander fuel delivery with chopped pipes and it hauls the mail

Right- So the CDI unit will deliver a 12v signal to the coil. Thank you mate! Cheers - Daugie

Hey man. I’ve got a 99 cbr F4x and It’s doesn’t wanna fire in the center two cylinders. It sparks when out but doesn’t quite get the two exhaust pipes hot as the outside two. I’m not sure what’s going on

Hey man found this video was pretty helpful, have some more questions on cdis n such. Rebuilding a bike right now that was electronic fuel injection and converting it to carb. Don’t ask why ha, but anyway I’m trying to get it going however can’t figure out spark. If there’s an email I could reach out to you on that would be awesome

it will not be cdi unit , the small pulse trigger in alternator will need moving slightly closer to magnetic rotor had it myself and it cured ignition fault if not that. kill switch wire.

Sounds to me like the rectifier is faulty, its meant to limit voltage generated by the rotor and stator to 14v to charge the battery , change rectifier and make sure bike has a max voltage of 14-15v at high revs
