I am so grateful for the Internet to get to hear such a brilliant discussion by two guys, so enthusiastic about knowledge almost makes me want to cry. What a great time to be alive!!!!!!
This is the best guest you’ve ever had “ what is the point of me spending studying and learning from them if I don’t change my behavior? That means my entire life was a waste and I refuse to waste my life.” Probably the best couple sentences I’ve heard in 2024.
Reminds me of this great story. A man wanted to change the world but couldn't so he focused on his country. He couldn't change his country so he focused on his city. He failed and turned toward his community, then his family, and ultimately himself. He said if he had to try again that he would start with himself then his family then his city, country, and change the world.
This is a great podcast episode, and I have never heard of him before hand. Thanks Chris for having such a diverse and unique group of people you bring on.
Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them. People prefer to spend money on liabilities, Rather than investing in assets and be very profitable

Recommended books from the transcription: "Shoe Dog" by Phil Knight: A memoir detailing the struggles and triumphs of building Nike into a global brand. 4 "Invent and Wander" by Jeff Bezos: A collection of writings offering insights into Bezos's principles and strategies behind Amazon and Blue Origin. "Four Seasons: The Story of a Business Philosophy" by Isadore Sharp: Chronicles the journey of creating the luxury hotel chain, emphasizing service and culture. 2 "Liftoff" by Eric Berger: Focuses on the early, challenging years of SpaceX and Elon Musk's relentless drive to succeed. These books provide valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, leadership, and perseverance.
Had the honor of meeting David and attending his first Founders Only conference in Austin, TX, earlier this year. In addition to being an unbelievable student (and teacher), he’s one of the most passionate people I’ve ever met. Excellent interview!
I was dreaming while listening to this and in my dream I ran to read biographies and was so excited about it. I'm awake now and am excited to read biographies.
I just started listening to his podcast. Its awesome and really inspiring. I've done the latest Jeff Bezos one and now I'm going through the founder of IKEA.
What I realised over past 6 years: Relationships are our security systems. Relationships are our firewalls. Connected communities are security systems.
1:09:30 - Chris once you’ve had kids and studied attachment you’ll realise that no two kids not even twins grow up in the same environment and also twins share a lot before they are separated at birth. Each relationship is unique and the consequences of our own awareness with each child are profound. I was just thinking about twin studies when listening to Andrew Huberman’s interview with his dad and the consequential impact of seemingly minor events (in discussion about chaos, random). We as a society aren’t even consciously aware of the importance of pregnancy and birth on the developing brain. Many parents are tricked into donating cord blood instead of letting the umbilical cord pump it into their newborn. Once you obsessively read about birth and parenting and have you’re own you’ll see the acceptance of imperfection and making peace with passing on intergenerational traits. Yes there’s the genetic unique aspect of the individual but how they feel about themselves and their self talk etc is formed by their parents’ voice I love to hear your guests awareness about his childhood and see he converted that pain into a powerful force for change to short circuit the violence etc Thank you
The issue I have with something like Amazon isn't that Basos makes a ton of money. It's the discrepancy between what the people make that do the work and what the people at the top make. I'd like to see them bring everyone up as they go up. Basically, the ceo salary shouldn't me multiple hundreds of times more than the average employee. The ratio in 2022 was 344:1. I wouldn't be ok with living a lavish life knowing people that worked with me weren't making enough to really even get by.
I completely agree. I very much value his contributions, but making it insanely easy to order anything comes at a cost (the cost of the human labor) that is not adequately paid. Bezos made a great move to figure out how to disperse so many resources and product, but at a certain point you need to keep feeding the machine you create to ensure its stability for the company and the human capital involved.
I really don’t understand this comparison of wealth. The only thing that should matter is the net benefit that someone brings to the world. If they make the world better, what does it matter how much more they’re paid for it than someone else? How does his comparative wealth hurt someone who’s benefiting from either his product or their employment?
@ I guess, I don’t find it acceptable for a company to make billions in profits and simultaneously pay at or near minimum wages for the people who help make those profits.
I think he was talking about the most significant bit. In binary representation, the most significant bit represents just over half of the maximum number that the data can encode. Even if everything else is perfectly correct, mess up this bit and the result is total garbage.
1:22:15 I have a phase that I came up with that is almost synonymous with "Bad Boys move in silence" It's kind of a Confucius says phrase "Stupid man bangs drum before hands for Tiger"
Mmm. Elons promises and deliveries are two very different things. Testa is a vastly overvalued and hyped business. The electric semi for one has all sorts of issues, just seems like it’s focus is all over the place. Not to take away from the engineering team and the people who actually do the development.
😂😂😂 Really, you criticise Elon? ELON MUSK ? Did the popcorn get stuck between your arse cheeks when you were sitting on the couch 😂 ? Maybe you want to tell your achievements?
I've had a persistent problem in my life like this, but from my perspective, the world is at .75x speed and this guy is speaking normal! So it's refreshing and time efficient ❤
Simping for billionaires isn’t big or clever. It’s not great that someone with money who is unelected and unaccountable can tip the scales of democracy isn’t something great either.
"I need it to have a peaceful life" is such a red flag 😂😂 I hope you find peace, but from my perspective, peace is a counter to the chaos of life, and to the degree that you put yourself out on a ledge and challenge yourself and throw your everything into that chaos.....is the degree at which you can lean into and enjoy peace when it comes! Too much peace all at once is called the Hole in prison, or Solitary Confinement! It's really easy to go there if you want to but I don't recommend it. I made alot of mistakes in my life and real life peace is terrifying!!
