  • Doesn't matter if you wish to connect the iPad Pro 12.9", or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra or S9 Ultra, or even the Lenovo Tab Extreme, there isn't a single tablet that this mod can't accomodate. In other words, this simple and easy mod offers the absolute best tablet controller we've ever seen.

    For TH-cam mostly....and to the first video to show it @RetroBreeze First I will just address everyone saying "now I know where the screws are I will just cut through the rubber to get to them" first of all Godspeed, you wont hit them the first time and getting them in and out IS NOT worth the benefit. You are actually at higher risk of damaging the ribbon cable that connects not only front usb chagrining and aux.... but everything.
    Also the "I can cut it from the outside without removing the back".... I am sure you are right, but you saved zero heartache, promise. Take the back off, make it clean.
    Now moving on. A heat gun or hair dryer is a great way to make sure the adhesive stays on the rubber pad, not the device backing. If either are more accessible to you great. But a hair dryer is more than enough heat. I have both accessible and still used a hair dryer. If when you are peeling the rubber pad back you feel some extra resistance, hit it with the heat again briefly. Doing it this way left 100% of the adhesive on the rubber pad not the controller back. It was almost TOO sticky to get perfectly back in place. Once I did get it seated correctly I hit it with the heat one more time and left it to cool. Just like new.
    Secondly..... no spudger no problem. I tried this originally with a learners' guitar pick and it was simply too soft to pop the outer clips...... I lost my old spudger with a handle so I sat and thought.... OH YEAH worn old/outdated/empty, or otherwise unusable "credit cards". Not new trick I know but a spudger was missing and I had old cards nearby. HES IS 100% RIGHT THOUGH DON'T USE METAL!!!!
    Thirdly, I did one removal of the supports as shown here just to see, and the other with a dremel. I am sure handed with both tools, but the dremel was faster, and ultimately cleaner. I had to use a sanding stone to be happy with either result anyhow. I would say if you are new to dremels and soft plastic, do it the way in this video. If you are like me and have both within arms reach of your desk and are confident you won't cut into the outer plastic, use the dremel it was faster and cleaner. I will add that I used a sanding wheel attachment instead of a cutting wheel since.... yeah I am steady handed but not THAT steady handed, and one slip with a wheel will 100% cut the outer case.
    Also maybe most importantly.... this mod does not take minutes..... if you are fine REEEEALLLLY givin' er on the clips you might get the screws, backing pad and back of the case off. But expect to spend closer to an hour if you are novice and not trying to damage any thing on the outside. That said it is an easy mod if you take your time.
    Also a shame the entire ribbon cable process wasn't shown here. I have fat man fingers and used to build computers with lots of daughterboards and ribbon cables and I found myself having to be VERY careful here. It didn't even seat right the first time and I am experienced with ribbon cables. Pro tip to fat fingered friends..... when you go to put it back in get a good grip 1/2" away from the ribbon end that needs to connect then balance the case on your sausage hand. when you flip the little black "lock" down make sure the cable is straight and even.... otherwise you will have to spudge the case back open and do it twice.... like me lol

      Had to give you a thumbs up and a "pin"! All great tips are in there. Thanks, I did not know the word "spudger", learned something thanks to you! The ribbon cable is by far the most "tedious" aspect of this, but at least in my case, it happened very quickly, I did feel like I was lucky cause usually, those "hard to reach" ones take upward of 10-15mins alone to sit correctly but to your point, thicker fingers, you've been warned. Thanks for this very detailed post and engaging. Cheers!

    I don't really want to do a tablet mod but was wondering what you thought about removing some material and adding a phone cooler. From what I see it seems like a lot of plasting in the back. Maybe drilling or cutting large holes in the back.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't go to that extent, personally. BUT, there is really 4 coils that holds both sides together, the plastic could really not be there at all. With that in mind, a mod that does not leave plastic behind your socketed device could definitely be a thing, would it be as stable though? Your guess would be as good as mine.

      You might need to activate the developer mode in your settings to enable the USB debug, you should be able to find a quick tuto without much effort. Give that a try and let us know if it works for you. Otherwise, there are other softwares that can provide mapping from any controller but they require some less than desirable operations, nothing alarming or complicated, just a bit time consuming. Fire Tablet 10 HD, while running on Android, is still a very different Android build being highly customized by Amazon. So, it's possible that from a driver perspective, that the controllers may not be as readily available. Have you tried downloading GameSir's app? Unfortunately it will not, the reason being that Apple "hardware gated" their port, so while charging sometimes work (though it often wasn't working well with non-official cables/adapters), data does not and game controller inputs are translated as data inputs. In other words, I have NEVER seen a port that supports data, and the ones that claim they do mean a chip to support charge, you need to find one that does OTG. Good luck, believe me I searched!

      Can't say that I do but there is this thing extremely rare to run into but not impossible. Your USB-C needs to have OTG support, otherwise, the controller won't work. But if you are able to plug say a microphone, a USB drive, or whatever else in your phone, that's not it. The other issue would be, have you held select+start to cycle from different modes? Or when you say it doesn't work, is it that it literally doesn't even power up (LEDs stay shut). Sorry I can't be of more help, let me know if mode swapping did it for you.

    How comfortable was using a 14” tablet with this controller? I am planning to use my 13.2” tablet with it and I am concerned it will be way too heavy after 10-15mins.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Surprisingly comfortable I'd say. For sure, you wouldn't want to be playing this thing for hours on in with your arms extended out but between keeping them to your torso or by laying your elbows on a surface for support, you can get some pretty decent game time without issue. The wider width helps making the grip and overall balance quite to my liking.
      I'd say its just about as good, the one position that is a no no is laying on your back with the setup being held over your head with your arms stretched out. That sounds like a bad idea for all the reasons you can think of! 🤣

      I had asked because I had the BSP D9 and attached my iPad Pro 11" on it and it was simply too heavy for me to use. It killed my wrists, and I had to return the D9 as a result (and also because the build quality was garbage).
      I will give this a try and hope that the weight distribution is slightly better! And for sure I will be using it lying down. The amount of times I drop my phone on my face proves that I should not have a heavy 13" screen anywhere near my face :p

    Regarding Rumble , what about xbox cloud gaming, does it have rumble? Does the controller Rumble or just the device itself?
    Could you confirm me please ?

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Andres, much like Sony's official app, Microsoft's cloud gaming app does not offer options to send the rumble to the device (phone or tablet). And since the controller doesn't have motors, it doesn't work either but even if it did, I think the app itself just doesn't support vibration, even the official Xbox controller doesn't rumble for me (on Android). I tested all that.
      There may be a solution for you though, there is an app for android called R3play by Tmacdev, that app supports both PS4/PS5 remote play but also Xbox Series remote play. Much like PSPlay, it sends rumble to the phone but the app is not free. Each service is a license you have to buy, I have the PS5 license, not the Xbox one. Sorry, that I couldn't test but I can tell you that on PS5, rumble does work through the device. I hope this helps a little.

      Regarding Chiaki android or PS play, seems that both of them have the Rumble function (making the Device itself with vibration)

    Do you feel the Type-C connector is safe from damage? because it only moves up and down, and not left and right, which was probably more important in a tablet.
    Plus, i saw some negative comments on this aspect in other controllers of this style, so i wanted an opinion from your side.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It is extremely solid on the tablet. USB-C connectors usually don't swivel, I don't know who would want a connector swiveling left/right but as far as I know, I've never seen that. Plus, left/right would be good for one specific aspect but worst for every other, whereas the up and down of the Galileo G8 is just perfect from a compatibility standpoint and where I stand, it's an amazing addition. Because it doesn't move left and right, it's robust and can actually tolerate some "tension". With that said, I don't feel as though it needs to tolerate much if at all because the spring system is SOOO STRONG that the hold on the tablet comes from that specific aspect.
      My controller has been on my Tab S8 Ultra for 8 days now and I removed it this morning to check it out, the tension is just as strong and when taking off, the controller closes back just like when it was fresh out the box. At this rate, my Galileo G8 is now a permanent fixture on my tablet and I don't expect any damage because of it, in fact, it is as viable a solution as if my controller would've been on my phone instead. I hope this helps, cheers!

And I didn't stop cause I wasn't able to keep up or anything, I just was ready to fall asleep. It definitely requires some readjusting of the way you hold these devices but think of it this way, back when everyone was nagging people who bought a Samsung Note, it was like: "Dude, this phone is way too big, it's absurd"... And look where we are now.
      If we think of gaming with a tablet the same way we would with a Nintendo Switch, sure, it doesn't seem comfortable, but when presented with that solution, and we give it some time? It ends up a lot more pleasant than initially expected. At least it's been my experience. I hope this helps!

      @@patrickmallari1411 Yup, it works on the light blue mode. And just to make sure I address your question, I am talking about the official Sony Remote Play app, the one that usually doesn't work without having a licensed controller. :)

      I sure would like it. However, there is this controller that I have that I ended up never making a video of, the PowerA Moga XP7 and it's essentially this one with bluetooth but on top of that, with included wireless charging. You may want to look it up, cheers! :)

      Why?
      Every other similar device does it on the right and most games horizontalize in a way where the right side is the “correct” side.

      Foldable phones are just not designed for controllers but I stand by the fact that the Galileo G8 is still the best controller for my Fold 4, being that it is vertically slim. Watch my main review, if you want to see an example of it, it's in my channel.
