  • Hi guys, I've been wanting to get around to doing a compilation of my off road 4x4 adventures in my Mitsubishi pajero and here it is.
    Some was shot in 2.7K and other bits in 4K and uploaded in 4K to make the most of it.
    I'm located in the Newcastle NSW Australia area and a good portion of the footage is close enough to that region.
    Tracks/ areas included are
    the wattagans
    freemans water hole playground
    cells river and swans crossing area
    wallaroo
    mnt sugar loaf
    Bylong 4x4 park
    lithgow - lost city
    stockton beach
    and maybe some other places I've forgotten.
    I hope you enjoy it. Cheers Brett
    All music from bensound.com.

      Thanks much mate. theyre a good thing, especially for the price. so long as you don't get stupid with them, they go very well. more flex would be nice. actually, some flex would be nice :) great tourers rather than a flat out off road machine though.

    Best car for anyone who needs a Land Cruiser 200/300series or a patrol y62, but at a cheaper price. All thanks to the responsive Traction control which does all the work while the independent suspension simply ensures a good ride quality. I do love solid axles as they offer better wheel articulation but had it been a solid rear axle, more work would have been needed for ensuring better ride quality. Which is why those 200 series are expensive because of the KDSS which ensure greater handling and ride quality but at the same time higher wheel articulation. Finally a diesel 4 banger or a V6 just to keep to cost down. The rhino pajero is just a cheaper solution which is able to do 90% of the stuffs a stock 200 series can do.

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Pajero's design is impeccable. Its powertrain durability has been proven to be better than the Prados , Rangers and Hiluxs. The only downside of the Pajeros is that its ground clearance deserves a little bit of improvement . But overall they are durable and awesome 4wds.

      Haha. Yes flex isn't a strong point of the pajero and can get you in trouble if you don't pay attention. But that's the compromise of independent suspension all round. The good news is, no diffs hanging down to get caught up on. If suggest driving one first if you can.

    Thanks again for another wonderful video.
    I have a technical question.
    Do you use / is there any after market recovery points for Pajero
    There are different ideas about pajero's factory fitted tow points and weather they are rated / suitable for recovery point purposes.
    Cheers

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Ray, The good news is pajeros don't get stuck, so you're just not going to need them.
      I've read many posts etc in the hunt for the elusive recovery points that will fit the pajero, alas nothing has come to light. Heaps of people want them but theres just nothing there I've found, there is the mitsubishi recovery video on here where they pull an older paj out of the sand using the tow points at the front. Everyone seems to accept this as proof that they can be used for such thing. I just stuck on a winch just in case :) not a cheap option but if I needed to use them to pull out, I'd be making sure I used an equaliser strap to lessen the load on each of them. Not the answer you're looking for but it seems to be the reality. If you uncover something though, please report back.

      mate jump on the australian pajero owners face book page. heaps of info there. But no, nothing stands out. Keep it serviced and you'll be fine. DPFs can be a pain but no more than other vehicles with them, check for rust around door sills and fuel pumps can be a costly fix on older ones.

    Just wanted to know how the Hankooks hold up on different terrains? I fitted a set yesterday and the only general negative info that popped up was the sidewalls were soft. Great video btw.

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Henk, I think I've only got around 20k on them at the moment but this has been a combination of off road, on road and towing the caravan.
      I've previously run bfg ko2s on other vehicles (delica) and these have been comparable for me. I think they were a bit quieter when first installed but they are starting to get noisier now. i also think these have been better in the wet.
      With the bfg, i didn't have confidence with hard breaking in the wet on road. these are much better there.
      From a wear perspective, these have been great.
      Are yours the same as mine? If I recall, i think there were different versions with different plys available. I find the sidewall to be quite stiff and to get them to bag out , like on sand, I find I need to go quite low in pressure before I see any change in the side wall. My pajero is quite heavy, with all the gear on it, so this is a bit of a surprise to me.
      they were quite expensive in this unusual size on the 18s but they had a deal on and the size smaller which I wanted was sold out australia wide, which is why I went with the 275/65. I cant remember the size of the ones I wanted but they were still a bit bigger than the stock 165/60s i think which are standard. I was try to keep a bit closer to standard since I tow a van, to help with acceleration etc and keep fuel economy down.
      Still, for off road a bit bigger is always nice.
      I'd really like to drop to a 17inch rim and go a higher profile for off roading. Might happen one day. cheers Brett

      Stock exhaust on mine but will look for an after market one later. No idea what brand as yet. The arb, sure do. I was surprised how cheap the commercial bar was. I was going with xrox or similar until I spotted the arb. It's doing what it needs to do.

    Hey mate, do you have any rubbing issues with those size tyres?

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes a little when the original bumper was on. Now that I moved over to the bull bar, no. With the original bumper it rubbed on those small mud guards in front of the wheels, but they can be removed easy.
      It also touched at full lock on the mud gaurds behind the wheels. Again, they can be removed and the small metal bracket that holds the bottom of that guard can be bent back out of the way.
      This was after the 2inch lift.

    Hello, I’m watching your video and am amazed at how pajero drives on off-road vehicles, it’s very fighting, I’m interested in how the integrated frame behaves, because the car does not have a classic frame, with such loads, are there any body gaps, cracks, or warping, I own it pajero 4, for 10 years, but you are operating the car in harsh conditions and I am interested to know if the body can withstand such loads

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, I haven't noticed any issues with the frame after operating in these harsh conditions and lots of off roading. the doors all still in up and shut correctly with no issues.
      I also tow a caravan and have had no problems there either. I'm very happy with the Pajero

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and no. I can still get it to go where I want it to go, but it can make getting there a little more 'challenging'. You certainly need to be aware of this limitation because when the front wheels come up, you could easily get into trouble if you are not aware or ready for it. So long as you drive with that in mind it's all good. You get used to it very quickly after a few times. Id call it a very capable tourer rather than an off road all trail rig.

    • @finbarSHmills
      @finbarSHmills 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DENMONKEY Thanks for highlighting that. It is the one issue that is holding me back at the moment. I know it would suit me perfectly but those wheel lifts make me a bit nervous about hitting some of the tracks I have been on. I could get a Pajero Sport but they have no space!
