    Attic Raiders Retro Reviews takes on the killer plant Audrey II as we take a look at how to play the Little Shop of Horrors inspired vintage board game Feed Me released by Milton Bradley in 1987.
    It's feeding time.... and your child has a hungry little friend!
    The little plant is hungry. Open its mouth. Using a steady hand, gently feed the hungry little plant a marble. But watch out! The mouth can snap shut at any time.
    Drop in a marble.
    Do it just right.
    If you're not careful
    The plant might bite.
    The hungry little plant game.

    Loved this as a kid, especially as I loved Little Shop of Horrors, but there was no merchandise for the movie.
    But, I remember buying it on holiday from the Argos in Felixstowe.

      Yeah, other than bubblegum cards and a pretty rare candy container, there really wasn't anything official for fans of the film at the time. It's only really even in the last few years that we've even got anything (Funko). I remember hoping for Audrey 2 to be released in the Movie Maniacs line years ago, and then SOTA Toys, but nadda...

      @@AtticRaidersRetroReviews the '80s were weird for merch, they got so blindsighted by the huge popularity of Star Wars, they forgot about everything else. It took about 20 years to get any Ghostbusters figures based on the actual movie released.
      I'm still waiting for a Johnny 5 Short Circuit model, and the second movie is all about them making Johnny 5 toys!!!

    I got lucky and found a copy of the game at a thrift store. It had all of it's marbles. But the rubber band was broke. But I am still happy to have it. Thanks for the review.

    • @AtticRaidersRetroReviews
      @AtticRaidersRetroReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, that's VERY lucky! I've never seen a single one in the wild or in anyone's carboot sale haul posts. As I've said, it IS possible to replace the rubber band with elastic thread, but it is a REAL pain to do, and I'm not sure I'd have been able to if my leaves weren't snapped off at the time, allowing greater access to the back.

    11:33 What's interesting about this is that on the USA version that we had released here, those big green leaves are made of a lighter green softer more pliable plastic. The tips can break as it's a nylon type plastic that was used alot in the 1980's when they wanted stiffness and flexibility.
    11:48 I never knew it went into the lower jaw, I always thought it just used a rubber band to work. Milton Bradley really shot themselves in the foot by not designing the band to be easily replaced.

    • @AtticRaidersRetroReviews
      @AtticRaidersRetroReviews  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, the lack of "fixability" is a real problem. But then they probably didn't expect people to still be playing it over 30 years later.

    There's another possible connection to "Little Shop of Horrors" that I'm not sure you caught: I can't prove it, but I'm dead sure that the studio singer performing the jingle for "Feed Me" in the game commercial is an actor named Ron Taylor, who originated the role of Audrey II in the 1982 off Broadway production at the WPA theater.
    You can listen to his performance on the Original Cast Recording.

      Listening to the two side by side it's definitey very similar. Would love to be able to find something to prove the connection. 😄
