thank you for mentioning the TPS as a possible issue with shifting, I have no codes and fluid is cherry on a 42RLE. It feels like I have some odd lag in TCC lockup 55-70 mph and a slight 3-4 shift delay, the behavior is intermittent and subtle, all is good and solid when accelerating mild to hard, it only does this when lighter on the throttle. I did the quick learn for the trans and no change. I did notice one TPS voltage was slightly below the minimum, being from MI, I am going to chase and clean all grounds first and go from there. Great video, thank you!!
👍 Thanks for the information you have educated me on the E, You’ve explained the limp mode. My GM manuals are clear on it although I may not have understood it. Blessed day. Happy new year.
4l60E on a 2002 2wd GMC 1500 4.3L V6. rebuilt transmission with your help and transmission service manual. Everything shifts and works perfect......minus no 4th gear. Any advice as to where to start?
Servo piston issue or 4 3 sequence pilot valve flipped is usually a no 4th. If you flipped the piston in the video like i did you must run a very tight clearance for it to work. Either issue doesnt require removal of trans.
@PerformaBuiltTransmissions Right on, ill definitely check that out and update you when I resolve the issue. I appreciate the sharing of all the knowledge you put out for us DIY guys. Videos like these are priceless. Thank you sir!!
I've got 2001 silverado 4l60e transmission shifts good when not under load but when pulling a trailer 1 and 2 are really jumping and jerky any ideas thanks for reading
Check the basics like fluid and filter and clean your maf and air filter. If you have codes and or misfires you must fix them immediately. 99% of the time if first is acting up its always service neglect or vehicle issues.
P0753 05 tahoe 5.3 have no first gear from start. I have had it in the past now im getting a stored code. Pretty positive the solenoid was going out and is done now. Hope solenoid replacement is all it needs
I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong with my s10 2.2, I’m hearing a terrible shutter noise at high rpm shift when shifting at any gear. If you don’t floor it tho it shifts normally and can reach 90 mph. Seems like the torque converter clutch is not engaging for lockup but I don’t know enough. No codes are thrown and iv overhauled the engine.
@@PerformaBuiltTransmissionsfluid level was fine in park, running at opp temp. I’m going to replace the tcc valve with the fitzall valve. I’m sure you are aware how the valve body bore can be worn out from rapid movement. People seem to like the lockup being on/off so I’m hoping it helps.
Is it possible for a my 4l80 shift solenoids to cause it to shudder/vibrate (feel like rumble strips) on the 1-2 shift and then prematurely shift to 3rd then 4th and back to 3rd right away. I replaced my torque converter hoping that was the issue and it was not. As far as i know the transmission has 240k on it and has only had fluid and filter changes done. I should add it shudders more as the transmission gets warmer.
No shift solenoids will not cause a shudder. If a bottle of shudder fix does not help, then the iron drums and bushings may be wallowed out. Common on the 80. Try the bottle of shudder fix. Perfectly safe and works most of the time
@@PerformaBuiltTransmissions it only does it during the 1-2 shift and if i let off the gas it fully grabs the gear (from what i can tell thats what its trying to do) and doesn't do it again till i stop and restart the process. I should mention I just found out there is transmission fluid in the transmission harness plug so it is bleeding through the connector. Could that and the shift solenoid cause my issues together?
Hey brother, what if I don't have a code, but I am have a 4L65E hard shift from 1st to 2nd, and it is a long down shift from overdrive to 3rd? But other than that is drives good. I just don't like how it's doing 1st to 2nd!
@PerformaBuiltTransmissions I live in a small town and I don't know who I would talk to unless a dealer would do it and I bet they break the bank for that lol 😂
Hey. I am having this issue with My 2008 Honda city Vtec. It Jerks when it is stops at a traffic signal on Driving gear. The rpm needle goes up and down everytime it jerks. The jerk goes off when I switch it to neutral or parking gear. Any one facing the same issue? Please help.

Cool. It's like a big fuel injector except no fluid flows directly through it.
It vents instead. You got the right idea 💯

I have a p0785 3-2 solenoid my car revs high on its own. Will that happen with a bad solenoid.
Yes and or you have the wrong 3-2 solenoid for your vehicle year and pcm
@@PerformaBuiltTransmissionsi have the toyota sieana 2006, I repaired the solenoid, but now it doesn’t go in reverse, what i do now

Def would start there. Easy cheap fix if thats it. Also check vss sensor
@ i already threw shift solenoids in fixed it and sold the truck

Fluid level running in park and condition?

no oil is non conductive. intermediates may be toast. has the unit been serviced recently fluid and filter?
What if there’s no code but trans won’t shift to 3/4 unless you stomp on it?
Is your vehicles engine modified and do you have a higher stall spd

Get a tune just like you would your engine. Tuners can adjust shift time to a certain degree. Just like an engine tune, transmissions need tuned too

Remote tunes exist as well
