    I purchased a 1993 c4 Corvette recently and the transmission was gone. I purchased a 4l60e from a 1996 c1500 a long with a micro controller from eBay to allow it to shift. No 1st or 4th gear (1st was intermittent for a short period) or lockup, that I'm aware of. I purchased solenoid A and B, hoping that helps the 1st and 4th issue. Im sure I damaged the pump on install. I made sure to seat the converter before installing but I believe it slipped on when trying to get into car. I purchased the transg-46 mod to modulate transmission pressure. Thanks for the videos, they are of great help.

      I agree. Sadly i feel they usually still just think its the transmissions fault. Do the same thing to a 4l80 lol

    My c10 has your heavy hauler. Only a year old. Lockup is not engaging, or engaging randomly. I get rpm fluctuations over 60mph. Has an fti 3000 stall lock up, same age 2023. I’m in Maryland not too far from you guys. My tuner couldn’t figure it out and For now my he has lockup turned off. What should I do?

      If your tuner cant figure it out you need a different tuner for starters. You will need to call our tech support line and not youtube comments if you need assistance.

    Can you do a video on how to convert from 4x4 to 2wd? 4l80e or 4l60e. From what I’ve seen it’s just changing the output shaft? I’m a beginner that never took a transmission apart, but I’ve bought some manuals to do so. And I have some transmissions to practice on.

    Hey Ryan love all your videos you are very knowledgeable! Im
    Stumped with my 2001 silverado! about a minute after start up it wont move at all in gear. Turn the truck off and restart it and it will usually move again but only for about a minute then its just revving rpms. I have checked the harness voltage to the MAF and changed the MAF but no luck. Unplugged the 4l60e harness to put the trans in limp mode to get it home but still the same issue no gears after a minute or so. I have got a P1870. Should i drop the pan?

    Thanks for this video. It helped my understanding of how Torque converter lock-up works. I've got a 2000 jeep Cherokee with the AW4 and it stopped locking up, replaced the lockup solenoid and test drove it and it worked just fine. Next morning it stopped locking up completely and hasn't locked up since. I'm trying to diagnose this problem and I'm kind of stumped at the moment. Do you know what would cause this or where I should start looking to try and fix this? Thanks

It threw a P0715 code and all gears are just neutral. Before this it locked out twice for the first time in weeks but after the second time it locked out, this other issue started happening. I've been busy chasing this new code all day so I haven't been able to check the brake switch but I will as soon as I have can solve this other issue. @@nightwing_ese229 input speed sensor in the transmission is bad ( can be tuned out with most pcm tcms ) or you have an open short condition with your vehicles computer. Older vehicle control modules are slowly old enough to lose internal grounds. Each plug has to have a jumper ground to fix it.

      @@PerformaBuiltTransmissions That was my thought too but I tested the input speed sensor through the TCM connector prongs and it was reading 680 ohms which is between the recommended 500-700 range. I pulled it out today and have since ordered a new one and I will be putting it in as soon as it gets here but I'm not quite sure that its the issue. I also did just get a new torque converter and flex-plate put on by a shop, could this have to do with anything?

    • @PerformaBuiltTransmissions
      @PerformaBuiltTransmissions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the stall speed for the converter is higher than stock it will cause this issue but if it matches im going more for iss. Imo find someone with hp tuners and change iss from fitted to not fitted in the checkbox menu. The sensor does not help your trans, only hurt it

    I just bought a 07 Chevy 2500 with a 6l90 2wd . The guy parked the truck in the garage and the next morning it wouldn’t move. You can hear the transmission go intro gear and reverse but it’s locked up . Even in neutral it won’t move I had to remove the driveshaft just to get it to roll . Any idea I’m thinking the torque converter or the output ring gear but I’m no expert with transmissions .

    Does using the tow haul mode keep the torque converter from engaging ?
    Seems to keep the shudder from happening for the most part in my 2013 2500 HD.
    I just don't understand why no matter what a transmission does every shop says I need a whole new transmission ???

      Yes and yes unfortunately the issue with the 6L series is major converter and trans pump issues by a terrible design. Your on borrowed time even using tow haul atm unfortunately.

      I didn't have any problems with my transmission until I used a tuner. Then immediately after it started shuddering.
      Hypertech spectrum tuner.
      It screwed up immediately and I reset it to stock settings. Tried the tuner a couple of more times but, no change.
      I've also disconnected the battery and drained the system and done a relearn a couple of times.

      unfortunately those little handheld tuners have done more harm than good over the years and should be avoided at all costs. If your lucky you can take your vehicle to an actual tuner and have them reset everything and pray damage hasnt been done. But in my exp esp with handhelds like fitech, msd, tci, etc ... they all interfere with the actual data the pcm is sending and cause issues down the road every single time. They are nothing like a real tune.

    Great video thank you! I’m having issues with a 2017 ram 2500 with 68rfe. I’ve scoured the internet far and wide to figure out its problem. Only when I drive up steep hills (I live with steep hills everywhere) it will lock in and out of 2nd gear and 3rd gear (I have a monitor so I can see when gears lock) and I will have a loss of power. I get gear ratio codes for 2nd and 3rd but I also get a code “lost communication with Reductant Control Module”. The truck is also tuned. From my research so far I’m thinking torque converter, clutch solenoid pack, worn under drive clutches, or a bad tune. Is there any way to narrow down the culprit without changing out part by part? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    • @PerformaBuiltTransmissions
      @PerformaBuiltTransmissions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well for starters you shouldnt be locking it up in 2nd or 3rd going up a hill. And if your using a monitor/ tuner thats handheld like tci, msd,fitech, or other small ob2 plug in then get rid of it. Next step would be to check your fluid appearance and smell. It probably needs rebuilt at this point. I suggest just driving the vehicle with a stock tune, lockup in 4th only after its repaired

      @@PerformaBuiltTransmissions I did a trans fluid service replacing the filters. The fluid was ever so slightly discolored and did smell off. • @PerformaBuiltTransmissions

      If it smells its damaged. Start over with a rebuild, then tune, and set lockup parameters correctly in 3rd and 4th only.

    Good video I have a 04 silverado 2500hd with the 4L80 in it shifts fine but will lock up at highway speeds but a mile or two at those speeds it unlocks and will not go back to lock up. If I have my code reader it never showed any code but if I do a reset erase codes it'll lock the converter back up. Just wondering if it could be that solenoid you mentioned. I have no code at all on the engine or trans. Thanks for any info you could or will help with.

      @PerformaBuiltTransmissions  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This may be as simple as adjusting the lockup values for speed and rpm. You may not have a real issue. Otherwise if your 4L80E still has the stock steel pwm tcc valve, then it may be leaking and a sonnax one should remedy that.

    what happens when it locks and stays locked. Trans wont release when put in gear, powers through the brakes. even with the exhaust brake engaged. still not enough to stop the truck. have to force it in to park to stop.

  • @lsswapped80

    What should I be looking for on a 2004 4l60e that when tcc is commanded, instead of rpm drop, it rises like it downshifted? It seems like a fluid leak somewhere in the tcc process. All gears work fine, shifts fine too. Thanks.

    • @PerformaBuiltTransmissions

      any codes like p1870? The tcc works by grounding itself to activate and the black and tan wire on the vehicle harness can be used to force ground to determine a trans/ converter issue or electrical issue.
