I purchased a 1993 c4 Corvette recently and the transmission was gone. I purchased a 4l60e from a 1996 c1500 a long with a micro controller from eBay to allow it to shift. No 1st or 4th gear (1st was intermittent for a short period) or lockup, that I'm aware of. I purchased solenoid A and B, hoping that helps the 1st and 4th issue. Im sure I damaged the pump on install. I made sure to seat the converter before installing but I believe it slipped on when trying to get into car. I purchased the transg-46 mod to modulate transmission pressure. Thanks for the videos, they are of great help.
Great vid ryan we alway enjoy upur knowledge. Here at our shop lately we've been seeing more misfires causeing transmission issues than anything else other than the great Ole sun shell stripping out

I’m in Maryland not too far from you guys. My tuner couldn’t figure it out and For now my he has lockup turned off. What should I do?
If your tuner cant figure it out you need a different tuner for starters. You will need to call our tech support line and not youtube comments if you need assistance.
Can you do a video on how to convert from 4x4 to 2wd? 4l80e or 4l60e. From what I’ve seen it’s just changing the output shaft? I’m a beginner that never took a transmission apart, but I’ve bought some manuals to do so. And I have some transmissions to practice on.
Hey Ryan love all your videos you are very knowledgeable! Im Stumped with my 2001 silverado! about a minute after start up it wont move at all in gear. Turn the truck off and restart it and it will usually move again but only for about a minute then its just revving rpms. I have checked the harness voltage to the MAF and changed the MAF but no luck. Unplugged the 4l60e harness to put the trans in limp mode to get it home but still the same issue no gears after a minute or so. I have got a P1870. Should i drop the pan?
Thanks for this video. It helped my understanding of how Torque converter lock-up works. I've got a 2000 jeep Cherokee with the AW4 and it stopped locking up, replaced the lockup solenoid and test drove it and it worked just fine. Next morning it stopped locking up completely and hasn't locked up since. I'm trying to diagnose this problem and I'm kind of stumped at the moment. Do you know what would cause this or where I should start looking to try and fix this? Thanks

Yes and yes unfortunately the issue with the 6L series is major converter and trans pump issues by a terrible design. Your on borrowed time even using tow haul atm unfortunately.

From my research so far I’m thinking torque converter, clutch solenoid pack, worn under drive clutches, or a bad tune. Is there any way to narrow down the culprit without changing out part by part? Well for starters you shouldnt be locking it up in 2nd or 3rd going up a hill. And if your using a monitor/ tuner thats handheld like tci, msd, fitech, or other small ob2 plug in then get rid of it. Next step would be to check your fluid appearance and smell. It probably needs rebuilt at this point. I suggest just driving the vehicle with a stock tune, lockup in 4th only after its repaired

This may be as simple as adjusting the lockup values for speed and rpm. You may not have a real issue. Otherwise if your 4L80E still has the stock steel pwm tcc valve, then it may be leaking and a sonnax one should remedy that.
