    This is the best breakdown I've ever heard. I spent most of my life as "nice guy". It wasn't until I started looking inward and being open with others about what was fueling me. I used to put other people in charge of how I felt and what I thought as I didn't have the tools to be in charge of myself. Thankfully I do have and use those tools today.

    I know ive been around here for yeaaarrrrrssss, i get it, then i loose it once (and i just reqlized that), once i face a very shamefull experience.
    I just realized that waves of shame come at me over and over all day long. And i didnt knew it was shame. Ive called it self hate. Ive always looked for people with shame up their necks and try to save and help them. And i always wondrr, why am surrounded with damaged people ?
    I was docile then got stabbed countless time so i became very angry and the rage made me realize that am much much greater. But that high faded away once i faced a big shamefull experience and i didndt understand that back then.
    Thank you. From a chronically ashamed man, constantly fighting and pulling the ropes. I salute you.

    I only wish I'd gotten out of my head sooner, it would've made more sense - this is a process to be felt... not reasoned with.
    Considering the constraints of video versus in-person, this is masterfully done.

    This hits spot on brother. Since early childhood we are conditioned be be "nice guys" and this is why so many nice guys deny that they are nice guys or find it very hard to break free from this (I actually took a psychology class and the classical conditioning described in my psychology classes mirrors the way the nice guy problem develops). I'm glad that there are people like you on youtube that helped me understand and grow past being a "nice guy."

      You might begin to get acquainted with the upper level emotions of Courage, Acceptance, Love, and Peace. Begin to meditate on these, looking within for times where you've felt Love (for instance). Then see if you can replicate/induce that same feeling of love in times where anger is triggered.

    Anger is an survival emotion and triggers action like fighting and you are not a victim not like fear that is what women are.
    Fear has his own place and It depends on the situation !
    Yes, i don´t want to be angry at work all the time. Logical don't work with anger and fear because they are Survival Emotions and you don´t need
    the mind when you fight or run.

    Self-identifying as a “nice guy” can amplify shame as it’s kind of like a humiliation ritual one does to oneself that quite often does little more than validate someone else’s misperception that someone is “too nice”. While I do think this video points to something, creating an internal representation of oneself as such a creature CAN do more harm than good.

  • @fedler89
    @fedler89 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great vid! I think this ontological pattern (hierarchy of being) that you've presented os well is a key to understanding reality and higher qualities of existence.
    I also think that there are some ethical as well as existential questions we can ask ourselves here.
    Who is the locksmith to this key and to whom should we give honour to? Is it an arbitrary pattern or is something/someone pulling us up the ladder? What is the nature of that source?
    Is this pattern nested in a greater story and would it be possible to see this as a "method" to use for our corrupted or narcissistic motives?
    I as a Christian ask these questions because I care about doing the right thing and not just seeking my own glory. What's true about the video is that we can't be in denial of our feelings, but instead immerse ourselves in them. Thus we don't escape from reality but act courageously by confronting the unknown. Jesus went all the way to defeat the arguments and lies of the evil one and invites us to follow his footsteps by trusting in him. This is a grand narrative which gives me great joy, confidence and hope as it tells that the living God loves you and me!
    Thanks for this video!
    God bless

    Thanks Brian, you have transformed my life since I started following Your youtube channel 4 years ago. I have been recently in trouble accepting my current partner sexual past, I feel a lot heavy emotions which I have never experienced every time I am with her and Think about it. She has much more sexual experiences than me, and I am getting to the point I am thinking in ending the relation just for this. Do you know if I can do something to heal this. Maybe you can do a video talking about this issue. Thanks so much for all the information you are giving the community with Fearless. Greetings from Mexico.

    • @alanmacias9284
      @alanmacias9284 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hola hermano, I’m going to tell this in English if someone else benefits also from this. Im also from Mexico and I’ve been there. At 28, I did lose my virginity with my actual girlfriend and of course, she did had various previous partners. The pain was almost unbearable, now I’m fine with it. It’s called “retro-active jealousy” and you are jealous not from possible present experiences but jealous of the things she did in the past. Although it is normal to feel repulsed by imagining your woman being with another dudes, it’s not normal to fixate your own thoughts on that. Your mind is leading you there because there is something there you need to integrate. Basically, you’re feeling insecure because you feel she might had been with someone better than you. You might feel inexperienced, unskillful, not enough, weak... I don’t know what’s your Achilles heel.
      You might have to start thinking that, although she might had a high quality man in her past, she still chooses you, so despite what she experienced, she still thinks you’re worth it. For her, now (the past future) you’re the best option yet.
      So, you have 2 choices: To accept her past is unbearable to you and if you feel there are things you lack, start living them, acquiring experiencing in order to avoid that sensation of being inexperienced.
      Or, accept her past, making peace with the fact she’s a human who made mistakes or silly things and that you may experience lots of things with her also while you learn, develop and grow as a man. She might end up thinking she will never know anyone like you.
      For better or worse, previous sex partners is more of a deal for a man than for a woman so don’t take it too seriously or personal.
      Hope this helps a little, the rest is up to you. Mucha fuerza

    Brian, this content really resonates with me, especially since I just finished Hawkin‘s „Letting Go“. However, it all just feels like wishywashy. Like, how do I „get in touch with my anger“? What exact, practical steps should I do to move up the scale? Is it simply releasing/letting go? Or is there more to it? Thanks, man.

    • @SpeechOner
      @SpeechOner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      By letting it come up. Repressed anger is hidden and isn't going to show itself until you start welcoming it. You can literally just sit down, take a deep breath, relax then tell yourself ' I allow myself to feel anger ' with intention. Wait and see what happens. He said in the video to, can I welcome the anger that is behind this shame/ fear works too. Find the fear/ shame then welcome the anger, go up the scale 😉

    • @SpeechOner
      @SpeechOner 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That being said when the anger is there you will want to push it down because that's all you know. You need to the opposite and that means loving and acknowledging the anger when it is there.

    I feel shame at asking anyone for anything or getting in anyone's way or bothering anyone, because I was taught that as a young child.
