The microchip company my vet uses recommends that pet owners buy a microchip scanner to periodically recheck their pet's chip, because they are known to fail. I love these good news stories ❤
You can also ask the vet at the annual check up to check the microchip, most vets here have this included in the check up fee if you cant afford to buy a scanner. Especially if you have an outdoor cat I highly recommend this! My husband has a chip scanner because he works in cyber security for cars, and that scanner works on pet microchips, too. So we offer checks to all our friends an family members 😅
I found one under the front leg of a Jack Russell I found. I do have a Halo microchip reader and since I found it, I have found two dogs without microchips. 😢
Theodore looks like my big kitty, Maverick. Different purrsonality though. Maverick has no shyness about him and loves people. I met him while visiting a friend. He was my friend's son's ex-girlfriend's cat, and his new wife hated Maverick because he was a reminder of her husband's ex. I know, that's ridiculous. Every time I came to visit, Maverick would jump in my lap and gaze into my eyes, purring like crazy. How could I NOT fall in love with such a sweet boy? The "new wife" said she couldn't understand why I like Maverick so much. Maverick is an excellent hunter, and one day he brought a live rattlesnake into the living room to play with. That was the last straw, my friend called and told me if I want him to come get him, NOW, or he's going to the pound. Oh no! My heart! I've had him 8 wonderful years now. He keeps the house free of mice, but I don't let him outside because he kills lizards and snakes. I don't want him bringing a rattler into this house! He's very smart, his favorite trick is to jump on my left shoulder from about 5 feet away when I give him the signal. I have to brace myself first for the 22 pounds of cat landing on me suddenly!😸
You are the absolute salt of the earth. With all the bad stuff that goes off in the world you are a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work you are ace😊
I have done this several times since our cats were chipped, most recently when one cat had to stay at a medical facility. That way we ALL knew up front that the cat had a microchip, it worked, and its ID. The care was excellent, by the way; I was being initially cautious.
I have multiple cats, and when one of them meow or talk from another room, I know who it is. The fact that being able to recognise Barnaby's meow reunited him with his Mum has me in tears. He must have been so happy to be home again where he knew he was safe and loved, it didn't look like he had the best time during those 8 months he was outside.
LOVE the Turtle. I take my dog everywhere I drive for all errands. When I get out of my car I wear a pair of glasses and medical mask inside. These simple “turtle techniques are my coping skills that work for me “
I absolutely love your videos. After watching the mostly scary/sad current news. It's so great to actually get a video that not only makes you smile and actually gives you good feelings.
I took my cat to the vet several years ago for his annual checkup and shots. They took him into the back area to weight him, check his vitals, etc. My daughter and I were waiting up front with several other people who'd brought in their cats. Suddenly, we heard a startled cat screech from the back, and I immediately said, "what in the world are they doing to my cat!". I knew it was my boy calling out. Several minutes later, they brought him back to the front in his carrier so we could check out and leave. Turns out they'd had him in the station closest to the emergency exit; their lawn care company was working outside and had started up a leaf blower right by the back door that startled him and made him screech. He was fine and quickly settled down, but I knew he was the one who had called out.
It's funny. I've had a beanbag chair for years, but kept it in the garage cause my partner didn't like it. He's gone now, so I brought the beanbag chair out. All 4 of my cats love it. They respectfully wait their turn to use the BBchair. So cute. 😻😻🥹😻😻
Cat hats are so darn cute and now that they're helping maybe it will help the researchers find a treatment that will ease their pain. Thank you for this video Jen!
I'm so happy that his meow brought Branaby back home to his Mum, where he inows that he's dafe and loved. It didn't look like he had the best time being outside on his own for 8 months, he must have been so happy to see her and feel her snuggles.🥰🥰 I love that Theodore gets to have his turtle days and his brave days, completely free of judgement. I wish the same could be said for everyone one who needs to have turtle days.❤️❤️
The reason cats don't like wearing things is because it messes with their sensory hairs. It's why cats freeze up when you put a costume on them. Their hairs are telling their brain they are stuck it a tight space, while their eyes are saying they are not.
Thank you so much for all the work you do to put out happy videos and smiles all over the world who see them. I hope your Christmas was a good one but most of all I wish you a healthy, happy and successful 2025!
One of my cats had a microchip that just… came out. I mean her body just pushed it out like can sometimes happen to people with old bullets or whatnot in their bodies. I found it piercing the skin while petting her, took her to the vet, and the vet said it was the second case he had ever seen. So yeah, ask a vet to check that those chips work when you go!
When my cat was little he flipped a dog bed over and zoomed around like a turtle, just one foot sticking out as he pushed around. The dog was so confused
Since Theo had a home, he’ll probably settle into a new one fairly quickly. Group home living is especially hard on older cats who can’t understand what happened to their people and home.

Not a cat thing, but somewhat related: my daughter was born with seven congenital defects in her heart. She spent 51 days in the NICU and about ⅓ of the first two years of her life in hospitals. She HATED sensors. Hated them. She ripped off her sensors so constantly and effectively that there were times we couldn't explain how she got them off. They had to switch her oxygen source over and over because this incredibly sick little newborn kept finding ways to remove everything they put on her. I remember one time her dad and I, plus a doctor and a nurse were standing around her crib when she was 3wks old and they had just put a new sensor on her leg, held in place with a strong band around her ankle. With four adults standing there chatting and my little girl lying quietly in her crib, I suddenly heard the nurse say, "No way!" We look down and the band--which should have been much too tight to fit over her foot--was sitting 5" away with the sensor connected to it instead of her--while she just laid there peacefully. Thankfully that one was a fairly unnecessary sensor, tracking extra data, so they gave up after that. 😂 My grandmother always swore that she knew exactly how her first great-grandbaby did it, though. Just three months earlier my dad had died extremely suddenly and unexpectedly--and my grandma swore that he was helping my little imp play tricks on us while he helped her get through it all. She obviously didn't have a purr to mess up her tests, but that kid could get the most inconveniently timed hiccups of any organism to ever have a diaphragm. 😆
The fact that you give something cozy to a cat and then they start messing with your experiment is so cat behaviour
