- Drop me a comment and tell me what sort of fishing you do.
I recently went to Japan and visited a tackle shop in Tokyo that is open 24hrs a day. The range of products is amazing.
Probably 7-10,000 lures, thousands of different softbaits. Great prices on fishing reels.
Sorry this is a long one guys, because there is so much to see.
It's part of a chain of stores called Johshuya, this one is in Toyocho, Tokyo. Johshuya has about 140 stores across Japan. - กีฬา
24hr tackle shop playing return of the mack at 4am. wtf dimension have I been sucked into.... awesome.
A whole new dimension my friend - come along for the ride. I'll be doing a couple product reviews soon (just been busy with life and a fishing comp). Be sure to subscribe
Thanks for putting-in the time to show us a real, well stocked fishing tackle shop in Japan. It is amazing how fishing tackle shops are all different in different parts of the world, based on the different fish targeted and caught and the different types of fishing techniques used to catch them, regionally.
A totally different fishing world than our Eastern Pacific, Southern California and Baja type of saltwater fishing, that we do here in those parts of the United States and Mexico. (Yet, the freshwater bass fishing gear we saw within your video is interchangeable, with most all parts of the bass fishing world found here in the United States and Mexico.)
Thanks for watching. I also found a lot of things quite different to what we have in New Zealand. I mostly saltwater softbait from a kayak, inshore, coastal. There use of Trebble hooks on softbaits was very different, and some hardbody/softbait combos were quite different. Honestly 9hrs in that shop was not enough. I'll go back in about 3 years. Hope you enjoy some of my other videos.
Thanks for commenting
Great video, the variety of fishing tackle in Japanese stores are to the point where you get lost.
Bear in mind that even though Joshuya us a chain of stores they don't stock the same stuff. Each one sort of specialises in a certain field a bit more than another one.
For example the Shibuya store you'll find more Daiwa Certates and Saltiga reels with more saltwater poppers than the Ikebukuro store.
That's handy to know, Might check out Shibuya next time. Toyocho was about 800M down the road from our hotel and I could go while my family was still asleep
That was a very interesting video. Loads of kit we don't see here in UK. Now following you!
I thought the same thing compared to New Zealand - thanks for the subscription.
Good stuff SG. That shop is amazing! The prices for the rapala lures seem similar to nz prices. Did you bring any softbaits or lure back with you?
only a couple. Got some creepy crawler softbaits and some with solid bars in them, just because they are different. Big purchases were 2 reels, a Diawa Fune XT and a Stella 3000, both heaps cheaper than here.
Nice travel for fishing store in Japan! Hello of Canada😉
Hi Michael - Tokyo was pretty good too.
Nice. Return of the Mack greeting you. They surely has a good taste in music 😁. Japan is so advanced in recreational fishing. One of the item in my bucket list is fishing trout in Japan and New Zealand using an ultralight gears.
Yes Trout fishing is big business in New Zealand,
I'll say the Japanese luv good
Music.
Return Of the Mack as you walk in... pretty good sign my friend
yeah was good music
Hi, I will be going to Japan in June, I am planning on visiting a couple tackle shops, may I ask, the reel price I notice their is a big red price number but below the red price number there is a smaller black number that is a bit less. Is the red number msrp and the smaller number below the actual store price?
They have a price including tax price, that Japan residents pay, and a tax free price that if you have your passport and spend more than 5000 yen you can buy for if you do not live there. Lots of shops do it, but not all. I visited another store in Osaka called Fishing Max, also got tax free there (bought a Daiwa Fune XT reel and some braid)
An Aussie Kayak fisherman based in Hiroshima prefecture for the next few years. We did have a 24 hr store here, but it's only open from 4am to Midnight now and is similar in range to the store you visited . Not much I can find going on Kayak fishing wise in Hiroshima region but there is a scene up towards Tokyo.
I'm an Aussie Kayak Fisherman in New Zealand. Good kayak fishing scene here, but tackle stores are nothing like that one. Most are a small section, maybe 20-50SqM in a marine store or a camping/fishing/camping store.
Hope you like my other videos
I think there are other 24 hour shops in Okinawa in Japan
Do you know if it the same chain?
Walk into a Japanese 24 hour fishing tackle shop to the sound of return of the mack, outstanding!
most of the music was in english as i remember, but all the shelves had mini displays playing product promos.
Great Video my man would love to go there and scour their ebbing rigs and soft lures.
Thousands of Soft Baits and some quite different to what we have in New Zealand, Ones with solid bars and trebbles, other that are a cross between a metal lure and a soft bait tail. Thanks for watching, hope you subscribed.
Great vid I have to go there and empty my back account one day 😂
Lot of interesting stuff. Their reels were a lot cheaper than New Zealand. Was good because i could go while my family was still asleep lol.
We used to have a store in the US called Galyans, back before it got bought out by Dick's Sporting Goods. Anyway, they had quite the selection of fishing gear for a general sporting goods store. From what I can see, it was about a quarter of the size of where you recorded this. I wish this place was open when I was in Japan (1976-78).
It'll be open if you go back, any time of the night or day lol.
Solid vid. Where in Tokyo?
Toyocho
Do they take credit card or do you need cash to shop? I would like to visit this shop when I go to Japan in a week. Thank you
yes credit card works there.
Thanks for the fast reply. Now you got me really excited. I am glad I don’t need to carry a wad of cash. I am planning on buying a couple electric fishing reels.
i was not looking for them, but don't remember any electric reels.
Wow what an awesome place
Yes it was a great find.
Edit to my comment, I translated what the smaller price means, it is before tax price @ roughly 10% less which is their VAT. Is this tackle store a tax exempt store for foreigners? With the current exchange rate those Stella reels are at about a 35% discount from USA prices.
Yes if you take your passport and spend more that 5000 Yen, you get 10% off.
@@snappagrabbagreat to know! Thanks for letting me know they are a VAT exempt store. I hope they also take Credit Cards😅
yes I used credit card@@tamalpias
th-cam.com/video/75CErnase7I/w-d-xo.html love my Stella 3000
I'm not coming outta that store with out spending $2k-$3k easy.
I spent about $1200 (in that store) and about $300 in another one in Osaka (Fishing Max), about $1100 on 2 reels. NZD$
@snappagrabba thank you for the awesome video Sir. God Bless
what's the shop called?
Johshuya in Toyocho, Takyo. They have 140 store in Japan
I work nights and go to Walmart here in the U.S..in.the middle of the night to go shopping.
Unfortunately after the pandemic they cut their hours and are no longer open at night.
Certainly better for taking your time to look at things.
What is the tackle shop name
It's in the video. But Johshuya is a chain store with 140 stores across Japan. This one is in Toyocho in Tokyo.
My wife walked by and looked what I was watching and said, you're sick. I said yes, I am hon. she said I know.
I know those "looks", "Fishing again"?
Damn. Can pick up a Vanford for $230-$240 cdn over there. Huge savings from what it costs here.
Same compare to prices in New Zealand
Does very much of the population there actually fish or is there enough rich people jam packed into the country that there is still enough people for fishing. I can't imagine owning a boat and car in Japan where it takes multi-generations just to buy a house to even park a car.
I kinda wonder if they have so many pack rods there because they have to take everything on a train? to go fishing.
Don't really know much about Japan except they have 120 Million people and a lot of coastline. I know this chain store has 140 branches across Japan So it's obviously worth it to them. Not sure it is a poor country like China.
whats the name ? or address? thank you
It's Johshuya (they have 140 stores across Japan) and it's the Toyocho store (a city within Tokyo). Thanks for watching, hope you subscribed.
You're not worng about not reading Chinese mate the Japanese borrowed the Chinese writing language.

not sure what that says, but thanks for commenting
I love the range of left hand reels, pretty much non existent in australia.
Most spinning reels are easy swap. Overheads - a lot of Kiwi's wind left handed, so I think they are readily available here. But they were much cheaper in Japan. Like around 40-60%.
@@snappagrabba yea was talking about overhead sorry, the shimano grappler, ocea jiggers and daiwa lexa for example arent imported into australia so I have to order from the usa or japan but its cheaper and better quality so bit of a bonus.
@kizzjd9578 where do you buy from online? I bought a Daiwa Fune XT for jigging from Fishing Max in Osaka (at the store). It was half the price of the same reel in NZ that was on special.
Out of interest - how many of you wind with their non dominant hand (i.e. your right handed and wind with your left hand, or visaversa). Please comment.
I'm right handed and wind with my right hand, think it would feel strange to do it the other way. Strangely, i play cricket or baseball left handed.
Hello sir, i am from Spain and i Will go to Tokio in june. Can you say me where IS this shop...i cant find It on Google Maps...thank you so much.

Japan makes all the best squid jigs.
They certainly had a lot of them, in a couple of different section of the store. I've never been squiding. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Also, Mate, I’m a Yank, but I am really excited that Razor is now coaching the ABs. I feel he should have been put in that role well before this last World Cup.
true dat@@johnhelms8226
Omg
great experience, seeing so many new things.
I wish I had money to go there and learn their language
gotta have goals
No Sr I'd Don't knows of Any fishing 🎣 🐟🐠🐟🐠 Shops at all whatsoever that's open 24 to 48 Hours Day to 352 Days a year. This Time Ever my life I've ever heard of it. I'd am dieing from Congestive Heartfeller an Pancreatic Cancer also Dibeatas an Seagers in My Brain 🧠 Other Health Problems. How I'd wish I'd could would be able to see Japan an some Other People I'd Love to see meet. Before I'd am Dead an I'd am dieing.
Sorry to hear of your conditions - hopefully the video gave you a glimpse of this store and brought you some joy.
This is all made to catch the angler , all those silly colour are not needed to catch the fish .
Different days different colours work and other don't. But I agree, anglers buy fishing tackle, not fish.
I'd Wishing an I'd would could love to know if if I'd be consider ever be on trip to Japan with You's to that store an or go fishing with You's before I'd die please or maybe if if You's would consider could spend me something of fishing gear from Japan 🗾🗾🗾🗾 Please
Hi, I don't live in Japan. I only went to this store one time when I was on holiday recently.
😮🇬🇧😁👍
Way too many lures , would not get even 2% display in the UK , we are more into fishing with FLOATS and natural baits .our seat boxes are a little more advanced than just plastic .
They had plenty of floats, I don't fish that way, so sorry i skipped over it pretty fast (but it's in the video).
I actually found this a bit boring to be honest , too much emphasis on soft baits and lures , this don’t work in the uk , where are the long poles etc , did not even look at or check rods on display ?.
Thanks Colin. I spent 9hrs there over 3 mornings. There was so much to see. I'm more into softbait fishing here in New Zealand and fish from a kayak. About to try drone fishing and a little surfcasting. 90% of the rods were in packets, and I don't read Japanese, and taking a rod back to New Zealand was not an option. I figured most people watching the video would be in the same situation, So i mostly skipped the rods. Thanks for checking out my video and commenting.
