Managed to get out on King's Birthday for a kayak fish at my local - Orere Point (south of Auckland). Was the calmest and clearest I've seen the water there ever. Bit of a slow day, but managed to get about 7 snapper and a couple to take home. Issues with the bixpy.

Seeing the forecast, I knew it was a marginal day. Forecast for rain and strong wind. Arrived at the beach before 7am, didn't look too bad. Faced rain most of the day, the wind picked up. Caught a few smaller fish. Then landed a 53cm Snapper. Watch till the end to see what happened on my way back to shore. First time for me.

I was recently sent a Strike-Vu Camera to review. First time putting it in the water at Army Bay. I connected my Daiwa "Wild Peanut" lure (floating/diving) to it, but that lure shakes a lot and while towing it, shook the camera a quite a bit. Let me know in the comments what you thing of what this camera captured. Full camera review coming soon.

I'll do a review after a few more times out with it. It's tempremental with connecting to my computer. It tends to rise up in the water a lot when trolling. It can tend to roll it's way through the water. It's been pretty murky a lot of times i've been out and that has prevented me getting more footage. - I've got some more footage on a couple of videos I did in MAY. BUT it's only $99USD

Great video, the variety of fishing tackle in Japanese stores are to the point where you get lost. Bear in mind that even though Joshuya us a chain of stores they don't stock the same stuff. Each one sort of specialises in a certain field a bit more than another one. For example the Shibuya store you'll find more Daiwa Certates and Saltiga reels with more saltwater poppers than the Ikebukuro store.

Lots of shops do it, but not all. I visited another store in Osaka called Fishing Max, also got tax free there (bought a Daiwa Fune XT reel and some braid)

Thanks for putting-in the time to show us a real, well stocked fishing tackle shop in Japan. It is amazing how fishing tackle shops are all different in different parts of the world, based on the different fish targeted and caught and the different types of fishing techniques used to catch them, regionally. A totally different fishing world than our Eastern Pacific, Southern California and Baja type of saltwater fishing, that we do here in those parts of the United States and Mexico. (Yet, the freshwater bass fishing gear we saw within your video is interchangeable, with most all parts of the bass fishing world found here in the United States and Mexico.)

There use of Trebble hooks on softbaits was very different, and some hardbody/softbait combos were quite different. Honestly 9hrs in that shop was not enough. I'll go back in about 3 years. About to try drone fishing and a little surfcasting. 90% of the rods were in packets, and I don't read Japanese, and taking a rod back to New Zealand was not an option. I figured most people watching the video would be in the same situation, So i mostly skipped the rods. Thanks for checking out my video and commenting.

I spent about $1200 (in that store) and about $300 in another one in Osaka (Fishing Max), about $1100 on 2 reels. NZD$

I love the range of left hand reels, pretty much non existent in australia.

Most spinning reels are easy swap. Overheads - a lot of Kiwi's wind left handed, so I think they are readily available here. But they were much cheaper in Japan. Like around 40-60%.

@@snappagrabba yea was talking about overhead sorry, the shimano grappler, ocea jiggers and daiwa lexa for example arent imported into australia so I have to order from the usa or japan but its cheaper and better quality so bit of a bonus.

@kizzjd9578 where do you buy from online? I bought a Daiwa Fune XT for jigging from Fishing Max in Osaka (at the store). It was half the price of the same reel in NZ that was on special.

Out of interest - how many of you wind with their non dominant hand (i.e. your right handed and wind with your left hand, or visaversa). Please comment.

I'm right handed and wind with my right hand, think it would feel strange to do it the other way. Strangely, i play cricket or baseball left handed.
