    I went to Adelaide a couple of years back for the first time from Melbourne doing a car delivery job and it was like Melbourne in the early 60's again!! I loved it!! People are so friendly too...

    Love it! I've done that drive more times than I can count, and I can tell you that if you left Melbourne in midmorning and got into Adelaide in midafternoon with rest stops you were hoofing it, mate!
    Just a note to others who might try to replicate this feat: There are point to point cameras on the SE Freeway out of Adelaide to Murray Bridge, between Tailem Bend and Coonalpyn, between Kaniva and Dimboola, Beaufort and Ballarat, and along the Western Freeway in Melbourne. Stick to the speed limits in those zones if you want to keep your licence.
    You can pretty much get away with leadfooting it from Coonalpyn to Bordertown, and Dimboola through Horsham, Stawell and Ararat, as long as you slow down through the towns and about 5-10 k's either side - the cops watch the highways there.. Also watch it at the SA/Vic border because the Vic pigs love nailing South Australians doing the SA 110 limit into 100-limited Victoria.
    Other than that, sitting on the ton out in the donga is a pretty safe bet!

      Mystikan This is great advice, cheers mate.. I plan to drive from Melbourne to a Sydney and Adelaide in 2019 when my 4x4 arrives, I'll remember this comment when I think of speeding in those areas.

    Even though this was a few years ago, I see the trip hasn’t changed much.
    My parents dragged me to Melbourne in 1994.
    Hated it the entire time.
    Was that excited coming home during the night and the view from Eagle On The Hill-Devils Elbow out over the Adelaide CBD as the sun was rising was one of the most beautiful sights I’d ever seen. From memory I actually cried because I was that happy to be back home.
    Since that day aside from the occasional day trips into country South Australia - I’ve never left my home. 😊
    Just a shame that the tunnels while much safer now completely obscure that view from the top of the hill.

    • @Austin_Boath
      @Austin_Boath 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can still exit at eagle and do the old way instead

    I think there should be a four lane highway system between Adelaide and Melbourne. Ive been between the cities once (I do currently reside in Adelaide) and it should be a two lane just like they have between Sydney and Melbourne. Saying that the terrain is a lot more flatter from Adelaide to Melbourne than it is from Melbourne to Sydney, especially when you get within the outskirts of the A.C.T region. Though I may be bias saying that as I used to live in Canberra and got used to four lane highways with 100kmh speed limits taking you from suburb to suburb.

      Yeah but traffic levels are too low to demand a 4 lane highway. Also it's a very expensive project

    • @nathanaelsliferecords6850
      @nathanaelsliferecords6850 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say it’s too expensive to build a multi-lane one especially when the demand isn't high😂 In the urban areas it's easy to find three / four lanes of highway tho

      Masters have closed down now (Opened 1st store Aug/Sep 2011 and Closed Dec 2016). They were a joint venture between Woolworths Australia and Lowes (USA). They were competing with the well established Bunnings Warehouse chain owned by Wesfarmers (HQ in Western Australia)

      Hi there!
      If you plan to stay in the city, I would recommend The South Australian Museum, Art Gallery, Adelaide Oval if you want to catch a game of cricket or Aussie Rules.
      From the city, you can also catch a tram to Glenelg which I would also recommend. One of my favourite routes I like to take guests up to Mount Lofty, Hahndorf, Woodside (chocolate factory) then Gumeracha (Giant Rocking Horse), but you do need a vehicle for that. Lobethal is also great during Christmas because of the lights. Hope this helps.
