Thanks for recording this and putting this here. Almost all videos I have seen show Sydney to Melbourne and not the other way. As I previously lived in Sydney and now live on the south coast of NSW I feel like in this video I am coming home. My exit to Nowra is at 6:53:00
Thanks for stopping by and watching :) I've always loved how the same stretch of road can be so different depending which direction you travel. I've always enjoyed driving over the Great Dividing Range from the South, but love driving into Victoria from the North. Hope to do Melbourne to Sydney via A1 through your neck of the woods sometime soon :)
@@motorisedwanderer It has changed a lot in the last few years. It is virtually 4 lane divided road to Nowra now and plans are continue that down to Bateman's Bay in the long term.
Looks like it’s a safe road crossing for tree marsupials. www.researchgate.net/figure/Location-of-the-study-area-along-the-Hume-Freeway-in-south-east-Australia-inset_fig1_279526470
@@garyq531 I thought it was traffic monitoring too when I first saw them, but then they were too close together and too many of them in a row to be practical for that. Hopefully they work well :)
Oh it was well over 150GB from memory. Can’t remember how long it took to upload (I think the conversion to 4K took at least a day) but exporting from the editing software was the longest and took about 10 days - a long time to wait and hope it has no flaws lol. Can’t wait to get a faster machine. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
@@motorisedwanderer Dam hey. Just totally curious about it. And no worrys & thanks for getting back to me. Myself & my brother don't drive so watching these videos are interesting
Yeah, I know the official signage is M31, but the vast majority of signs between metro Melbourne and the border are still branded National 31, both on the freeway and at the side road entry/exits to the Hume. I'm reflecting what drivers would see. I'll change my signage when VicRoads changes their's haha :)
@@skynest1016 I completely agree, and I think it's about to get a whole lot messier with the changes Victoria is making to their road numbering system. Canberra is also a confusing place to guess which sign to use. Might be a fair way off getting any national consensus... :) Thanks for commenting. I like hearing what people are thinking :)
@Skynest101 Hey there, I actually owe you an apology. You're absolutely right, I definitely got my shields wrong. I didn't tweak to the difference between the National 31 and National M31 shield. I'll fix it in future videos. Thank you for pointing it out. I appreciate it :)
Is this an Australian highway? I thought it would be much wider, Europe, despite being ancient has got very wide highways traveling from one large city to another.....
There's no need - not enough cars or people travelling between the cities to justify more than two lanes. On the outskirts of metro Melbourne and Sydney the freeways are wider. But also consider it's roughly the same distance between Paris and Munich, and how many cities would that go through? The Hume goes through one regional city. Its quicker to fly Melb-Sydney than drive.
It was a family trip. A lot of music, podcasts and talking to make it not worthwhile/privacy/dealing with copyright. Gonna start including audio on solo trips though soon :) Thanks for watching.
Just looking at your thumbnail, fun fact the National Highway M31 no longer exists. It was abolished in 2005, cut in half in 2007 and 2013, then depricated in 2014. Sheilds are also slowly being depricated in Victoria, and now every new sign with a sheild, obsolete alphanumeric number or future alphanumeric number has a coverplate over it to prepare for total abolishion.
Oh yeah, another viewer brought that up with me :) fully aware of the change, but outside of Metro Melbourne, they still use National M31 designation on signs, and the video reflects that (actually it should - the video uses the wrong sign - fixed for the return). I just wanted to use what a driver would see on the road. If I do the drive again, if the roadside signs are ever updated, I'll update my videos then :)
Thank you for your comment. I like to provide all options for my viewers, both real time and time lapse, so all can enjoy the content depending on their time commitments. By all means, if you only enjoy the real time videos, stick with them :) I have separate playlists so the content is segmented. You've probably stated the majority opinion shared by my viewers - the real time videos are more popular than the timelapse, but I try to cater for all :) Hope you keep watching :) Take care
One of the freeways of all time that’s for sure
This will be a good one to come back to every now and again to enjoy some beautiful Riverina countryside
Love driving through golden hour :)
that transition between April 1 and April 2 was seamless very nice editing
Thank you for noticing this :) I’m so glad it worked out the way I imagined it when driving. One of my prouder moments on this channel :)
Struth Mate, you're a bloody beaut. Thanks
Haha thanks mate. Appreciate the kind words. Hoping to do some longer drives in 2023 :)
Just did this drive, found it much more gratifying than just flying. Lots of beautiful landscape to enjoy
Absolutely - time permitting, I'll always choose to drive than fly. So much to see :)

They forgot to put Road Destination signs from Woomargama(about 500 kms from Sydney), Holbrook(about 487 kms from Sydney), Tumblong and Bookham
There must be an error on RD sign from Sturt Highway junction - Goulburn should be 217 km instead of 223 km(actual distance from Tarcutta town proper)
And also the RD sign from Beveridge - the bottom with Sydney is chopped off - its distance should be 824 km
Can anyone tell me what the poles are at 3:45:45 please?
