@@ryangoslingsimp it is but by the looks of it from theories and my own speculation, I see Famous Last Words as The Patient escaping out of Hell and coming back to life, his soul from Hell returning to his body, and then the song "Blood" comes on being some kind of End Credits showing the Patient waking up and causing a fuss in the Hospital because everyone thought he died but somehow woke up and it's just The Patient having a morbid sense of humor of life, singing about blood and other stuff like that while the Doctors go ape shit and crazy figuring out what to do now.
That's my take on it and by the looks of it quite a few people agree to that as well

@@xerodelacroix5552 I remember them releasing a statement or something saying they didn’t like weapons which is why it took so long fo their new album to come out. From what I remember they just decided to make a new one and that’s when we got danger days. They also said they if they ever released weapons it meant the end of mcr, they day they released it my best friend told me they would break up soon and then they did.

The fact that I bought tickets to their reunion tour....... back in Fall 2019 :') Thus far, the concert has been pushed back... three times. But by God, I'm holding onto these babies.

At least you got to keep your tickets. Bought tickets to a festival in Australia they were gonna play at, got cancelled the day before it was meant to happen in 2020 and we got refunded and told we'd get emailed when they release their concert details. Never got an email and sold out within an hour 😭

people think Danger Days has a "happy -feel good " tone?! surely those people have not payed attention to the lyrics and story as it clearly tells a lost rebel cause. I would even consider it bleaker than Black Parade since in that album, the patient went to heaven in the end where in this one, the rebels died in vain.

a lot of the songs on danger days are about being free and are happy songs, like sing and summertime. Those are really happy feel good songs.

Mostly agreed. I don’t think they should have to keep working on anything that doesn’t bring them happiness, however, it feels like a shame to let whatever has already been made of the album be lost to history. I hope they release the demos/lyrics if nothing else, but I don’t expect them to do any more work on the album than has already been done.
Yeah, I'd give a significant amount of money to hear this album, but I'm glad they didn't do it if they would be miserable making it.

Ever since I saw the new witchy theme and the teasers for the reunion I've been wondering if the parents from Paper Kingdom have gone down the rabbit hole and are trying to ressurect their children...doing deals with the devil and sacrificing...other living beings...Sounds pretty dark to me, thus speculating they are working on the Paper Kingdom again. Prob not, but I love the idea of Paper Kingdom too much to let it go so I keep hoping.
I have doubts that a new album would be the paper kingdom as it once was, if at all. I do hope however we get the demos, even just instrumentals they made at the time.

This is literally the first I've heard of paper kingdom. I knew they started another album after danger days... but never any details... and I dug so hard for info. Thank you for filling in a huge gap in my knowledge
I would adore another really dark album from them, but it’s very taxing and it’s understandable that it’s hard to continue to write dark material. I just want to hear them again, new material would be absolutely amazing. I’m so excited to see them whenever we can; I’ve been waiting such a long time to see them.
Gerard's "Don't Try" is actually a pretty dark song, so maybe a line or two from some Paper Kingdom track were borrowed for it

Hearing about scrapped media is both fascinating and kind of heartbreaking. I’m a big fan of MCR as well as Radiohead (which you mentioned may have sounded similar to Paper Kingdom) and this album had such a fascinating concept. I’m sure it would’ve been a masterpiece. Now that they’re back, I really hope they revisit this, but I can understand why they wouldn’t want to and I would be fine with that.

The Black Parade is a damn good album but honestly Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge is their best album. And one of my favorite albums of all time ( as is The Black Parade).
I’m Not Okay, Helena, The Ghost Of You, Thank You For The Venom, To The End, Cemetery Drive. These songs were the soundtrack to my life back in the day.

Welcome to another dimension where My Chemical Romance still had some time to release their last album.
hey, interesting video, i can explain a bit more about pinkish, i was lucky enough to meet gerard around Sept 2013 at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo Tx where he tracked the bulk of hesitant alien, he said the whole album was gonna be completely new territory for him and that he started with “Millions” first, and then got inspired to keep going, he played 4 songs for us, the 4 being: Millions, Juarez, No Shows, and Pinkish (only pinkish and millions sounded close to finished, the others didn’t change much upon release but had more production and detail to them. Well, anyways i’m sure none of the album was inspired by any unreleased my chem stuff, i didn’t even ask about my chem cause it was very apparent he was living in the present and excited to work on that album

MCR played Sister to Sleep during 5th show in LA last year where each of the LA nights was an album era depending on the majority of songs on the setlist from each of their albums. Many speculated that the 5th show would be an album announcement
LA 1: Bullets
LA 2: Revenge
LA 3: Black Parade
LA 4: Danger Days
LA 5: “Catholic” as described by Gerard, which was a mix of their eras
Sister to Sleep was meant to be on the Revenge album, but got cut. They have not played that song since 2003 since they lost copies of the demo and Matt, their original drummer is refusing to give his copy up due to their past relationship. Although, I’ve heard that WB/Reprise have a copy of the original Sister to Sleep vaulted in the studio.
Here are my theories of Sister to Sleep:
- A new re-recorded version of Sister to Sleep, not sure if this will end up on MCR5 if that album possibly comes out
- Live recording of Sister to Sleep in LA on a possible reunion live album
- 2024 where a possible 20th anniversary release of Revenge comes + sister to sleep demo from the studio vault, depends on MCR’s relationship with the label

I’d love to see the idea revisited in the form of a book or comic. I think an album would also be banger, but it could be like a Danger Days duo thing. It sounds like something I would definitely want to read. -someone who doesn’t like to read
I kinda agree with that a lot it maybe very sad but maybe if it was in a comic baby a twist was the children were all alive some how and the paper kingdom universe was a real place and the parents. Got a sign of something and join everyone together to go find the kids they maybe like stuck that same age due to universe rules or be older by Gerard’s own choice and they all have a nice reunion and no one is really dead. So it can kinda be light hearted.
Just an idea not saying Gerard’s idea was bad it was beautiful in a depressing way but I think maybe if he doesn’t wanna go all sad. He can have a reunion with a deep crazy dramatic story arc in between.

I had heard about this, but then I thought I was crazy, I remember reading something about an album that told a story of some parents losing their children, but I never found that again so I thought that was some kind of false memory

I've been a fan of the band since i was 12 (now 16). I did not know about this at all until barely a min ago
as a relatively new MCR fan (since circa early-mid 2019) I am very excited to see what the future holds for this ragtag group of handsome bois. the paper kingdom sounds like it would have been very dark but I believe it could have served as a major point of maturity with the band and could have maybe been a melancholy send off if mcr had chosen to go that direction. but alas, i dont think we will be seeing it unless they changed their own feelings about it, i just hope we get some album in the future.

Gerard didn't use any material from MCR5 for Hesitant Alien. I believe "Pinkish" and "Don't Try" were actually written while on the first round of Alien shows, and then he started performing them in his set, and THEN he went on to record them properly for a RSD release. Nothing from the Parade sessions/demos was used for MCR5. Not quite sure where you're getting your information.
Having said all that, I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised that we haven't gotten any new material due to the 2 year delay of their tour. Seems really odd, honestly.
Yes that certainly was a reach, honestly there’s so little info on MCR 5 I figured it’d be more interesting to include far out speculation.
I was actually planning to do a redux version of this video explaining things a bit more, as well of course more fun speculation and adding any small tidbits I had learned after, but I have so little info collected I just don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Also, you said nothing from the black parade sessions or demos was used for mcr5, and while I think there’s a good possibility it wasn’t, I wouldn’t count it out either. The rumors were that the album was barely completed, so who knows, if they were ever in need of songs to complete the album, old BP demos would’ve worked after a little repurpose. Again, it’s quite a reach, but not impossible. I hope one day we get at least any demos recorded for the paper kingdom.
@@blockbustergarbage your logic is sound, but the thing is, we pretty much got ALL that was usable at all in Living With Ghosts. They were under such a tight timetable during those years that not much was discarded, nor did they have time to demo a ton of unused songs. Granted, you can't believe what Gerard says in interviews as I've caught him in outright lies before, but he had the best of intentions. ;)
Gerard used to call it MCR5 in 2012 because Conventional weapons hadn't been released yet, but the name of the album is "the paper kingdom". Please stop calling it MCR5, now we know that Gerard treats CW as an studio album and he regrets not releasing it at the beginning of 2010.
I really hope he releases as a book, I would read it.

I think that the live demos and the nough mixes of MCRX are the paper kingdom, because, if you pay attention to the lyrics, it talk about the children who died
*(for example i think that "kill all your friends" its about a girl/boy who died on a party or something like that; in "emily" a girl who died by an crazy family member or for by kidnappers or thives; "my way home is throngh you" its about a brother/sister who is talking with her/his died bro/sis; "the five of us are dying" its about every parent telling their feelings about their died childrens; and, "not that kind of girl" its talking about a parent that his/her daughter died when she went with her boyfriend and never back home)*
That´s my opinion and the story that I created with the lyrics of the songs
Listening back on the songs it all really makes sense that this would be real and not just a theory. Plus he has said it was almost emotionless in a way and sure you hear some emotion in MCRX demos but there is very few honestly you could make a whole story off of the demos alone

Atleast kill all your friends, my way home and five of us are dying are 100% not from paper kingdom, because kill all your friends and my way home were released in the famous last words single that was released before even danger days. Also the five of us are dying is just an early version of welcome to the black parade. But emily sounds like it could be a paper kingdom song because i don't think would even fit the black parade.
@@pikkelssi4537 i'm guessing the demos and live songs we got in living with ghosts inspired the paper kingdom. i feel like those were the base of the story and then they wrote 6 new songs and scrapped it all.
Kill all your friends is an exception because Gerard says he wished it was on Black Parade and would go after Sharpest Lives. The five of us are dying is rough mix of WTTBP. Emily, not that kind of girl both do seem like it though. Party at the end of the world sounds like a transitional song into Danger Days, like checking the sound a bit. All the angels all seems like a Paper Kingdom song.

I think that's subjective. IBYMBYBMYL deals with a lot of dark subjects, but they're dark subjects pretty much every young adult thinks about, esp in the post 911 decade (i.e. breakups, self harm while high, grief, terrorism threats, being attacked by the undead (????) ). I don't think that they had to delve particularly deep to write about those topics. The reason why MCR felt super relatable in the 00s was because that stuff was on the forefront of everyone's minds, it's just that there are so few musicians that could capture that dark cultural zeitgeist while still staying energetic and marketable. In contrast, with paper kingdom, it felt like they tried too hard to dig for something painful to talk about and actively hurt themselves.
Them releasing foundations of decay and playing a lot of older obscure songs on tour might be hinting at something new, not quite paper kingdom, but something.

the video that they posted to tease their return had people dressed as the dead running through a forest. i wholeheartedly believe that they were teasing paper kingdom but halted the creation of the album due to covid, and are now slowly picking it back up since they have more shows soon

First of all, this is the first ever video I watch from you. It is even kind of old, 8 months at the moment.
Around 2016 I was a HUGE FAN of MyChem, the same year I had just started listening to them. Differently as other TH-cam channels, I knew MOST of the stuff you mention, instead of all of them - which is quite rare I swear. It seems I've even missed on some information of the band since I stopped being interested.
Around the 8:53 mark you mention that they'd gone to their roots in terms of music writting. And I used to think the same, that they could had been writting stuff that sounds like TBP, but now I think that's not their roots, hardcore punk is their roots.
I think they were going pretty heavy with vocals, sounding not so happy. On their first record, they were telling a story. But I don't think all of the songs are about The Lovers' story. This Is The Best Day Ever isn't. I don't think This Mirror Isn't For The Two Of Us isn't either. I never thought of them doing something like that, where a couple of songs aren't telling the album's main story. I think this was heavier than the heavier songs on I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, like the ones I mentioned before.
You even mentioned at one point, they where going to aim for a different public with this new sound. Honestly I think grown ups got tired of the whole "Frerard" thing, hahah.

Like the lyrics to emily always stuck with me and made me shiver bc they were so vague but so clear at the same time. Its about someone feeling regret and guilt for the detath of a girl most probably the suicide of that girl. This would actually finally make sense if it was in the paper kingdom bc many things didn't make sense if it was a real life story
I consider fake your death and conventional weapons as a separate album. Theres amazing songs on it, sucks their production always sounds awful. l also there's super deep lore about how they planned their California 2019 return, faking their death and announcing their comeback on the day of the Dead, it's freaking gold! The MCRX cross was my first professionally done tattoo.
If we talk about Pinkish, I think it would be good to mention Don't try. Because, if Pinkish is on point lyrically, then Don't try is really on point musically. I think it's the most MCR sounding Gerard's song. Every time it starts playing - I think it's MCR's song, not solo-work.
i always found some of the songs from conventional weapons to be very remenicant of what was supposed to be paper kingdom, kind of an homage, or a stripped back version of it, with the themes being very very similar to paper kingdom. Things like light behind your eyes, ambulance, gun, world is ugly, always seemed to be parents talking to children, songs about angry kids and teens wishing death on themselves, I mean even the name ambulance is very on the nose. even with sequences being taken from danger days (everybody wants to change the world no one wants to die) and bullets (ghost in the snow, ghost in the sun), as if the life is flashing before the narrators eyes. i don't think it lines up timeline wise, but that's always been a hunch or I guess headcanon of mine

i feel like it’s unlikely we will get the paper kingdom since foundations of decay is like (in my opinion) them looking on their past but pushing through. and on top of that their whole new thing is like flies and swarms and decays so i think something new is in the works but def not paper kingdom
