he also did the video for helena! you can really see the similarities between the funeral scene at the end of the movie and all the umbrellas in the music video :))
The dude who directed mystery men used to make doritios commercials. Every great director starts somewhere, everyone who ever did anything great started out as a beginner, harry Potter taught me that.
LMFAO right!?!? Loooool that took me out, I remember listening to this exact album on repeat on a shitty neon purple MP3 player the size of a Spearmint gum package lol
There's a reason so many of us connected with them 20 years ago. 😉 Don't worry, you'll find your niche. And even if you don't, weirdos and outcasts are always welcome in Austin, TX lol.
In high school, I was suddenly deprived of my loner abuse experiences because I had become a stoner, and all the other stoners defended me 🤣 This turned out to be true even when I did something that got ALL the stoners in trouble. 😟 And they were still my friends after that. They were all seniors and I was a sophomore, and they were graduating at the end of the year. So I was really sad, and felt like I was getting cut adrift. I didn't like to go to class because I didn't like to do homework, because it interfered with getting high. When my friends left I didn't want to be there either. So I dropped out, waited two years, then got my GED, went to college after that, too. I always thought school was stupid and that I didn't need it. Turned out I was right! (Warning: I can't affirm that's true for all kids - some may actually need school!) Also turned out I didn't need pot either, which was because when I was in my early 20s, I stopped enjoying it, started feeling weird and uncomfortable when I was high. (Maybe it was just all that "weirdness and uncomfortableness" I felt before I discovered pot coming back to haunt me, and saying "hi, remember me? You didn't really think you could get rid of me for good, did you?" Bwah ha ha ha! Getting rid of that, I discovered, sometimes takes THERAPY! 😳 But that's really not as horrible as some people make it out to be, as long as your therapist is KIND as well as educated.)
so i never liked my chemical romance and i don't know how this showed up in my recommended BUT i started watching it and seeing how much hard work is going into this and how much fun everyone is having i feel obligated to finish watching this and then watch the final product. not sure if i've even heard this song honestly. i know the title but yeah man. this is some dedication. psyched to see how this all gets put together.
confirmed: excellent fucking job. i actually HAD heard the song at one point but again i was like 13 or 14 when that album came out and it was definitely not up my alley but everything about the video was incredibly well-done and the song was way better than i remembered it being when i was younger. i have friends who tell me the black parade is a good album but i just kept avoiding it because i assumed i'd hate it but aye who knows? gonna be an open book about em at least, give 'em an honest shot
Dude, I definitely hope you gave them a shot after this. So many people used to dismiss them because of the "emo" label but there's a reason they're legends. Their discography is insane and they're just genuine artists who put their whole soul into their music. I can see why some people don't like the high concept stuff, but they're geniuses tbh.
@LUSCIOUS DUNCAN It’s been a good month, but man am I dying to hear your thoughts on The Black Parade. Always bummed me out when people miscategorized the band as “just some generic emo band” when they’re nothing like any band in the rock/emo scene and as a music lover I genuinely believe TBP is one of the best rock opera albums of all time.
A key distinction fans have to constantly point out is that they were considered emo but only the subculture, not emo the genre. Also, each album is very different with a wide range of songs, so listening to one won't necessarily help you pick which one to start with. Don't forget the B-sides! Maybe even check out Hesitant Alien and some of the guy's other solo work. It's basically all just raw talent. And lastly, Foundations of Decay should solidify to anyone that they're still just as talented 20 years later.
its weird the album is 20 years old, that's over half a decade older than me, its so weird but amazing that things existed before me and so many other people and things
I love how frank was so tired he look like he was done with the whole thing but was excited to watch and gerard really liked to be involve in the whole thing he really like this stuff
