    I agree Randy. Mega bass makes great rods. A joy to fish with. I got into lake fishing when the virus started. I fish shallow lakes. Caddo and Cross lake. I have studied my rear off and I am still having trouble finding fish. I try to cover a lot of water. I catch 1 at the most when I go. I grew up fishing a pond. it's so different than lake fishing. I love being out on the lake I wish I just catch some fish. Thanks for the vid.

    Randy, please keep posting every day. I put on your latest videos and listen while I am working. Gets me through the day much quicker. I always struggle with finding spring bass on small bodies of water. It seems like a totally different ball game than big water. Lots of good insight in your videos. If you you have a tip on avoiding wind knots I’ love to hear it. When using a spinning rod and a light or weightless setup like a Ned rig or even a jerk bait I have trouble since you can’t pinch the line when reeling slack like you can on a baitcaster.

    • @catchofthedave8681
      @catchofthedave8681 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bro i know this is a late post and maybe u already have one. So over the past year I have done a lot of experimenting with rods. Ive found out that the rod and hooks you use are the most important thing in fishing. The reel doesnt matter, just get something reliable (i like daiwas) and the line doesn’t matter as much once you get to where you’re doing tourneys and stuff you are probably already using good line. Seaguar, sunline, daiwa, theres lots of good line.
      So I have basically swapped out my whole rod arsenal past year or so. I started getting some higher end rods and my favorites were phenix rods (the new m1 is amazing) and tatula elite rods. I also got the megabass levante diablo spec r…..and it was a good rod, comparable to the daiwas or phenix rods. I have the hardest time with jig rods. Almost all my rods are japanese style tapers, they load up deep, have soft tips, almost like a cranking rod. Well Ive never really found my perfect jig rod. I was camping with a guy who fishes tourneys in same series as me at santee cooper tourney and we were comparing gear. He had an orochi xx perfect pitch and a couple others. I said “surely a $400 rod can’t be much better than my $200-$250 rods”. So i compared his destroyer spec-r to my levante and omfg. Its much lighter and just tapping the tip against stuff it was much more sensitive. So I picked up his orochii perfect pitch (his jig rod). And everything about it is stunning. I mean it is so freaking light and the action and tip is just stupid bro. It still loads deep and has a soft enough tip to roll cast and skip…..its insane. So I immediately was like “this is my new jig rod”. Plus i think its back weighted just a hair so the balance makes it where the tip naturally comes up. Now all I wanna do is swap out my main workhorse rods for megabass rods. Put one in your hand….borrow one, ask friends if they have one, etc. megabass is very expensive but they are also super over engineered where everything on them is perfect. The japanese got it going on.

    Good stuff Randy! I’m looking into Megabass for the first time. I have lots of technique specific rods so looking at an overall rod I can slot in and do lots of things with. What do you think of Megabass Orochi XX F6-70XX Tour Versatile?

  • @scottskinner6868
    @scottskinner6868 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Randy, could you touch on the whipsnake vs the ronin for jerkbait usage? I’ve been thinking about getting the levante whipsnake for dropshotting and the ronin for jerkbaits but if the whipsnake can do jerkbaits just as good then i’d probably be better off getting the just the orochi whipsnake and saving myself a couple bucks.

    Good review. Do you have any experience with the levante Whipsnake. If so does it feel/fish exactly like the orrochi Whipsnake. I thinking this rod in the levante line for jerkbaits and also 3.5-4” keitechs on 1/4 oz jiggeads. Will this rod work well for those technics?

  • @clownshoesfishingclub9616

    Randy, I would love to know what your take is on scent. It's been said that a bass has a greater smell than a bloodhound. I know you like to soften your baits by hand and I'm curious if you think that is a need for scent or what your overall perspective is on that topic. Thanks for what you do. You're much appreciated.

      For anyone else curious, I ended up with a Daiwa Certate 2500 on the Whipsnake, and it’s a match made in heaven.

    I have to say Randy, if you haven’t tried the new P5 baby buster for open hooked drop shooting it is really a beast. Also, for shorter guys like me I really like the Ronin for jerkbaits. Just a great length and works the 110 great while handling fish really well. But if I had to pick one, the P5 Wind Buster would be it. I know they designed that for casting light cranks and such into the wind, but it has a great tip for working finesse, is a great rod for light soft plastic swim baits and frankly an incredible rod for free rigging, which is beginning to replace a lot of my Texas rigs duties. If you haven’t tried the Windbuster I would highly recommend it despite the price. And I’m with you on the Orochi XX as those are great choices and a better value, in my opinion than some of the previous destroyers, but in the spinning category that Windbuster is pretty amazing and so light and well balanced in the hand. Thanks for a great video sir and congrats on 30K. You are climbing the ladder fast!

    Not saying $250 is cheap, but the Levante line is well worth $250. To be fair most decent rods start at $150-200 anyway. Do getting the quality you get in the Levante line for $250 is well worth it. Imo many other companies charge $300-350 for a Rod that compares.
