- In this session Jake shares where we are and how we are progressing now that we are riding our "Problem Horse" who started as a bucking and biting monster and has slowly become a Sweet Little Angel. Not fixed and there yet but this horse is making progress and getting better everyday.
Enjoy!

I can't believe you're getting comments about going too fast. When I saw the first video with her, my first thought was "How awesome! He's going so slow, what a breath of fresh air in the training industry!". I saw every video so far of this series and I love how clearly comfortable she got with you as you kept working with her. I actually think she got quite bonded and is going to miss you.
Right?! Thank you.
those that can do, those that cant criticize. I specialized in problem horses for most of my life and I could not have trained this horse. You did good.
Thank you!
Thanks for filming this horse and its progress. The owner's and your time invested with this project is undoubtedly having a positive impact on many horses throughout the world.
Thank you!
I liked this mare from the first time I saw her, but it was obvious that she needed a lot of careful work. I’m so happy to see the progress she’s made under your tutelage.
Yes, I've loved her from the beginning also, doing such a great job with her, so amazing how much time must be put into a horse to have them become as though they came out the big box doing all this perfectly! Very nice to see how these wonderful horse whispers take their time using repetition to condition a horse into well behaved creatures! I JUST LOVE THE SMOOTH, EASY SPEAKING TONE HE ALWAYS KEEPS WHILE WORKING WITH HER AS WELL AS I'M SURE HE DOES WITH ALL THE OTHER 12-15-20 HORSES HE WORKS WITH DAILY! AS A KID I WITNESSED A PRISON WORK RELEASE FELLOW THAT WORKED WITH AND TRAINED TENNESSEE WALKING HORSES, HE WAS A HORRIBLE MAN, HIS NAME WAS HENRY, WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A REALLY GREAT HORSE TRAINER BUT HE WOULD TIE THEM IN THE WORKING STALLS AND BEAT THEM UNTIL THEY WOULD TREMBLE AT HIS EVERY COMMAND, LOOKING BACK HE WAS A MONSTER WITH HIS TECHNIQUES, EVEN GOING INTO THEIR STALLS TO GET A HALTER ON THEM THEY WOULD TREMBLE IN FEAR FACING INTO A CORNER. APPALLING THE WAY HE ALWAYS SAID A HORSE WAS JUST ALWAYS WAITING FOR THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO KILL YOU. LOOKING BACK AFTER SEEING THESE GREAT HORSEMEN WORK AND TEACH THESE MAGNIFICENT CREATURES MAKES ME HOPE THAT HE EVENTUALLY DID GET A HORRIBLE DEATH AFTER SEEING HIM BEAT THESE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES WITH 2X4'S AS THEY WERE TIED UP WITH NO WHERE TO GO. BREAKS MY HEART KNOWING THERE ARE HORSE TRAINERS OUT THERE THAT HAVE HIS MINDSET ON HORSES BEING EVIL AND JUST WAITING FOR THE PERFECT MOMENT TO STRIKE AND KILL THE MAN. SEEING THESE MAGNIFICENT MOMENTS WITH THESE TROUBLED HORSES GET RESOLVED WITH KINDNESS AND REPETITION VERSUS EVIL TACTICS INSTILLING FEAR WITH 2X4 BEATINGS VERSUS LOVE AND TRUST TECHNIQUES. THIS IS GOING TO BECOME A WONDERFUL HORSE ONCE HE IS DONE, MAKES MY HEART CRY WITH LOVE SEEING THE POSITIVE CHANGES TAKE PLACE WITH THESE NATURALLY AFRAID PREY ANIMALS USING TIME, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, REPETITION AND JUST ALLOWING THE ANIMAL TIME TO GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING
OF WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THEM. LIKE ANOTHER COMMENT I'VE SEEN, HORSES, DOGS, AND KIDS NEED PROPER TRAINING AND UPBRINGING TO BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE !!! JUST LOVE WATCHING THESE VIDEOS, I'VE ALWAYS LOVED HORSES, ACTUALLY HAD A TENNESSEE RACKING HORSE STUD AS A TEENAGER , HE WAS SO WONDERFUL , KIND, LOVING, GENTLE, ESPECIALLY AS A STUD HORSE. BABIES COULD WALK UNDERNEATH AND AROUND THEIR LEGS WITH NO WORRIES ,I NOW KNOW "BLACK JACK" MUST HAVE HAD GREAT TRAINERS THAT WORKED WITH HIM THAT MADE HIM DO PERFECT. IN CRIPPLED NOW, BUT WISH I COULD GO BACK IN TIME TO HAVE HAD MORE TIME WITH MANY OTHER HORSES TO LOVE AND CHERISH AND WORK WITH DAILY , WISH I KNEW THEN WHAT I'VE LEARNED WATCHING THESE GREAT TRAINERS DO WHAT THEY DO TO CREATE PERFECT HORSES AND THE PROCESS OF THEIR CONDITIONING! OK, SORRY IF I'VE SLAIN THE KING'S ENGLISH DESCRIBING MY COMMENT BUT HOPE YOU ALL GOT MY INTENTIONS REGARDING MY COMMENT! BEST REGARDS TO ALL THESE GREAT HORSE WHISPERERS. WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THESE FINE MEN!❤
Thank you
Thank you for showing that you don’t have to dominate or be aggressive or physically win a horse to train it and tame it
Thank you!
She’s definitely starting to catch on that her job is to solve the puzzles and not freak out about everything. It seems to me that she’s really concentrating now. Fun to see the progress.
Yeah I agree, thank you
I ride English. And, I find that the more I bump or squeeze with my thighs and just let my calf sit there, the better & smoother my horses respond. Discovered this by accident during a dressage lesson, never forgot it. 👍
Yeah it’s a whole body experience for sure
I also love that you’ve changed the title to a more positive perspective. From Monster to Angel (that’s a work in process). Haha. But I was reading an article that horses understand words to a degree…. The inflection. I had a killpen gelding a few years ago that I named Mister… I found out from his breeder that they called him Little Man as a foal up to 2 years old. One day I went out and called hey there Little Man… he stopped in his tracks and turned and looked at me. I was stunned. I also thought about the inflection of Mister being a harsher word just by the way it’s spoken, where as little man seemed to have a softer tone to it. Anyway I love to hear how you talk to her by say kid. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah always a part of the plan to paint the picture of progress. So important how we speak of them for how it makes us feel on our insides.
you need to own this mare that go on the road with her and do clinics. I cant imagine the owner being able to take over and keep this going, it takes a special talent
I totally understand the one-sided-ness. I tried to mount from the right and use my right foot and everything and I was so discombobulated. I eventually gave up because I didn’t not feel safe at that moment. I needed to practice. My horse was fine, it was me that was confused because my body wasbak used to doing it the other way. lol
Yeah it takes time and effort
A totally different horse from the first day. Great job.
Thank you!
This is a gorgeous horse and her movement is beautiful, but I love how you are so practical and stated that progressing this horse is important to her future! So many horses who have ended up like she did before coming to you end up in BAD situations. I love watching your feel for her. great series!!! can't wait to see more of her!
Thank you so much!
Enjoying this journey you’re taking with Remy. Love seeing how connected she’s become to you since that first session. I didn’t get the first movie quote, but the second one was “Forrest Gump.” Keep ‘em coming!
Yes! Thank you!
I love this mare and how you are working her. I'm learning so much from you working with this angel. You made me laugh when you made the "wipe with the other hand!" So true!😂
👍🏻👍🏻
She's really coming along nicely, Jake. Good job!
Thank you
Enjoying this hugely, and finding it so so informative and educational. Love the ongoing commentary - you sharing what’s going on in your head in response to her feedback. Keep em coming, man…keep em coming. I can’t wait to see the fuller version on your patreon. 😃
More to come!
it's been a great journey to watch. She's such a beautiful mover. I love how she keeps checking in with you. building confidence is so crucial, especially with sensitive horses. thank you Jake for taking such good care of her.
Thank you for being here!
Cool seeing the amount of forward from the last ride! You do such a great job walking that fine line with her, looking for progress and allowing her to do the puzzle solving.
Yeah much better. Thank you
The key role here is time & patience. Why people got to rush in their training. A sensitive mare like remi needs time & patience and understanding. Good job 👍. Not many trainers do what you do.
Thanks
I really love watching and your explanations. This is giving me some new ideas for connecting with and training my sometimes tense, athletic dog.
Wonderful!
Jake I love watching you progress with her!! Great job!
Thank you!
I’m really enjoying this series. You are doing a great job with her and she is making such amazing progress.
Thank you
Do you still have to follow a routine when you go in the stall to halter her? Your patience was unforgettable and an excellent example for all of us to remember if we have a similar situation.
It’s progressed to just the halter and she has her quitters off when it’s on to progress and put it on. I’d I go in a few times a day it gets so fast and easy.
Watching this journey, I have learned a lot about patience.
Fantastic outcome.
Glad you enjoyed it!
She’s very gentle!
Thanks🤗🤠
👍🏻👍🏻
For sure, this man has performed miracles with this horse, compared to day one - but it is clear why she was in a kill pen. Could be genetics - could be past history, but that horse will never be 'ride ready'. I'm not saying that she'll never be able to be ridden (I know she's been ridden) - but I seriously doubt anyone will feel confident to ride her, as most would be able to do with most horses. Imagine spending an hour or more to mentally prepare a horse to be confidently approached, much less ridden. There is too much going on in her head to go for pleasure rides or even experience the joy of being someone's horse. She is beautiful but the money that her owner has invested just to save its life - with little chance of ever having a fully ridable horse...well, it's her horse, her money. This man has the patience of a saint.
Thank you!
She's a beautiful mare. Such a good girl.
Yes!
Beautiful.
Thank you!!
She is doing so much better. I really enjoyed the video thanks.
I'm so glad!
This is perfect, thankyou. Confidence is what I need to work with my mare. Thankyou, for all your help 💕🐎she is exactly like Remy, low confidence. Do you think, because my mare was in the kill pen too, is that's why she is low confidence. It always makes me think with my mare like she won't let go of her past.
They have internal scales that need balancing. You fill the scale with confidence and yielding and good experience enough to out weigh the old life she had and she’ll be a new horse.
I enjoy watching you train. 👍 Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Thank you!
Great job.
Thank you
Oh yeah! ❤️
🎉🎉
I am left-handed so I relate to this mare and her resistance. But I can't help but wonder about her reluctance to flex to the right.....to the left she is soft and flexible. Even to smell a stirrup. To the right, especially when you see her in the video, straight on, she just makes it look almost painful. I hope she does not start rearing when you start asking for more forward movement to the right. You have done wonders with her! The right trainer for this mare! Her panic mode is calming as she is learning that pressure does not mean punishment....
Thanks. Better every day.
Do you realize that the links you point to during your videos are never there? Don't be ME. That's my trick. :-) Love your video. Give me links so I can watch more.
I’ll double check but it may be what you are watching it on. Thanks for watching!
These critics are nuts. If you dont push Boundaries then you stay the same
Yes!
But how did you dismount? Do you use the fence?
No I just jumped down.
And she’s cool with that. That’s awesome! 😍
This horse looks like a perfect candidate for the Tristan Tucker TRT Method. Learning how to be comfortable in its own body and turning stress into the horse coming up with its own solutions. Self management for the horse that also helps in the pen/stall.
No I think it's more like the Jakes Pear Tree ranch method, in case you missed it!
@charisseayre1299 What do you know about the TRT Method and what it's about? EVERY good trainer has learned from others and is always willing and looking to learn more....BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HORSES...and they don't let petty egos stand in their way. Tristan is located in Europe anyway, but his work is on video. This helps Jake become a more desirable horse trainer, which helps him and the horses 🤠
Thanks for the back up.
Where do you think he learned from. Taught him everything he knows.
Dude, IMO, it’s so rude promoting another trainer’s method on someone else’s page. This horse is being trained by Pear Tree Ranch. Self management is being promoted. JB is teaching this horse to be comfortable in her own body. This trainer is patient and empathic. Celebrate that maybe, rather than pointing to another guy?
She is so completely clueless.... It's as if it's actually her first ride ever. Crazy that people have sat in her before.
Agreed
She's not a an ambitious turner. Poor zoolander.
😂😂
I meant... she's not an ambi turner! LoL... from zoolandaer
@@secondworldproblem I got it and love the reference. Thank you!
