- Here is my buddy's 2005 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. He recently put on a straight pipe, and we wanted to see how it sounded!

I had a similar set up on my 337 (exhaust, tune, BOV etc). Recently went with the APR K04 tune- really woke the car up! Love the Jetta bro- nice work.

Nice I really want those wheels, just bought a stock 6-Speed 2002 Jetta GLI VR6 it pulls pretty good, better than my 98 Eclipse Spyder GST although it was also a fun car for awhile but always had problems and spent most times in the shop it was a money pit from the start haha.

Needs some polyurethane bushings. Makes a massive difference to front end grip and helping the back rotate 👌 My MK4 Jetta is so much fun to drive now!

I have a Jetta as well and when I got it it's two tail pipes. I want mine too sound like this. These cars are awesome. I just want it too have a bit more get up. I have the 2.0 version tho. So I wanna like get turbo in it.

did you update the diverter valve?
How did you get that bov to work with that motor, I have the same car and want that bov. How did you install it without a diverter valve being I was told you need to recirculate with a diverted. Any help would be awesome
Johnny Hernandez I put on the bov after i got my stage 2 tune and ive never had any problems. Make sure to get the hks ssqv version 4 with recirculating kit. Install is easy. Just remove the existing hose on the diverter valve. The kit comes with a plug that you use to cap the hole where the diverter valve used to be. then hook up the bov to the intercooler pipe. Its easier than it sounds. Once you look at how its setup itll make sense.
Nice car, I was wondering if these come from factory turbo charged? I am looking to get one for my first car and couldn't find any good info. Also, is the gli a v6 or a 4 Cylinder?
GLI is a 4 cylinder. Turbo charged 1.8T from the factory.
i just bought the 2016 gli 2.0t i got rid of one of the mufflers. that was on it there is still another one at the rear with the dual tip on it if i was to get rid of that and do straight pipe will it sound like this and be able to hear the turbo more. i dont know much about these cars this is my first VDUb and any help is appreciated
no if you want the turbo whistle get a 3" catless downpipe and slap a k&n pod filter on your maf and delete the resonator and muffler then people will hear you whistle by

I have a 1.8t 2003, auto sadly, has 130kmiles is it worth me doing anything to it? I mean its my daily but get me lol I'm getting another car either way so just for the fuck of it would you recommend me putting different turbo exhaust etc on mine it being an automatic?
definitely sell it or trade for the 6 speed it's not worth doing much to the auto besides maybe intake and exhaust but I wouldn't waste my time with tuning and all that

william jester The car in the vid has a spacer for the post O2 sensor. And i believe its also configured in the stage 2 tune as well. When its time to bring it in for inspection, i slap on the cat. 30 min job done once a year

Have any problems with the HKS BOV? Since VW runs a recirculating turbo?
Never had any problems. I've had the BOV in for three years now and it never gave me issues.
I can't get over the GLI's that have spoilers. I like the clean look better.

Theres going to be 2 options with the MKIV GLI from 2002 to 2004 theres a GLI but it comes with a 24v VR6 engine and from 2004.5 to 2005 there's the updated GLI with a 1.8T engine and upgrade body kit and seats.

The 42DD exhaust setup that I have in the vid is specifically designed for the mk4 GLI. If you want a lot of sound best bet is to go 3" TBE catless with muffler delete. That's my setup right now.

peppino92 i got the same 42dd exhaust 3" TBE but with HF cat. did you have an ratting or rubbing vibrations from the exhuast fitment touching anything? i see that your tail pipe sits perfect and pokes out just a bit like stock. mines hits up against the bumper and sits a little back inside the bumper.. did you upgrade other two engine mounts as well? i too upgrade my dogbone mount
Daniel Madril Jr fitment sucks. It rattles more if you're lowered. But mine does hit the heatshield right around the rear axle. Ive been lazy but next time i get under the car im wrapping some exhaust wrap on the pipe that hits the shield. As for the exhaust tip poking out, when i first put in my 42DD exhaust my tip sat about 2" deep inside the bumper that i could barely see it. I contacted 42DD and they sent me two blank exhaust flanges that i inserted in between the axle pipe and that spaced out the tip more. So now it sticks out a bit as it is in the vid. And yes i upgraded my dogbone mount as well.

if not you need to replace the timing chain and it would be worth to upgrade it.

i have a stage 2 1.8t with a forge 007 and it does not sound like yours
Swap your forge 007 dv with the hks bov and you will get the whistle sound
Keep your dv and buy an intake, bov kill your turbo because the car is governed by mass airflow. An intake will give the dv some noise, or you can buy a forge splitter valve
Soulshard Music my bad i have the forge slitter its stage 2 with a short ram intake full 3 inch turbo back clutch and other stuff but this bov sound is really "sharp" mine sounds like a woosh

Tyreeses Arm honestly dude the whoosh sound is way better from a dv and intake, the bov whistle kinda sounds like them fake bovs if youve ever watched a video on it. Plus bovs are not good with 1.8t

paul rogers im gonna say 250 ish at the wheels.
comes with 180hp on 8 lbs of boost
then upgrade the boost to 20lbs and you get alot more power cuz of the flow grkm the turbo.
but you gotta change the exhuast to get more are flow for more boost

Tyreeses Arm definitely not 250 at the wheels. My GLI on 20psi makes probably 240 at the crank. 250 at the wheels you would need a k04 turbo, supporting mods and a good tune

Anthony Toscano only thing wrong with jettas is that they're fwd. But people have put in a mk4 r32 awd drive train into the mk4's. Lots of work but can be done. r32 and golf r are the only awd models volkswagen produces.

That blow off valve sound is extremely annoying. The car would sound 99% better without it. I have a diverter valve on mine and its not annoying like this.

I purchased the forge splitter thinking it was a good idea for my stage 1+ at 18 psi. After a week I just felt like a stupid ricer and switched it to full recirculation. But I will admit that HKS sounds a lot better than a splitter. But I still prefer the whoosh of a diverter into a turbo inlet pipe sound.
