I'm 32 and I feel like an adult about 20% of the time. Like when I have to make really big business decisions or I meal prep like a boss. The rest of the time I 100% feel like I'm making it up. The big advantage of adulthood for me is that slowly but surely I've built a wardrobe I actually like with quality pieces without spending a fortune at once - it adds up over the years if your size stays consistent. Oh yea, I also bought a couch. Like not from a random person or out of a dumpster. That made me feel like an adult.
I bought my first nice vintage couch for $300 last year when I turned 22 and that was like a big milestone into adulthood for me haha. But then life continued and I was like okay no I have no idea what I’m doing 🙆🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Oh that and owing my very first dinning table! I moved out at 16 and until a few month ago, I ate my meals in bed or on the floor... well actually I didn’t even have a couch to sit on until last year 😆 just a bed, desk and desk chair for a long time.

Sad thing about cooking without exact measurements, is it will turn out to be the best you ever made. You will never be able to recreate it! Oh, and I am so much older than you. So, not all your viewers are young!

I was chatting with my mom the other day about the whole "when do you start to feel like an adult" and she laughed and said never. She's almost 60. So I suppose it's comforting to know we are all simply winging it.
construction on my apartment also started right when Quarantine started (they're still not done)!! They had to come inside and remove our front door to replace rotted wood, and broke off some of the interior and exterior walls. It's so stressful living through that, so I feel you Jessica!!
We have also been living in a baking site for the last 2 months! It’s been so hard to deal with since we can’t leave and it’s in the center of our house. At least our house will now be wheelchair accessible. They’re 95% done thankfully and we can move back in.

Wow! I'm so impressed that you had the willpower to attempt baking im this situation AND it worked out fine! The muffins look super yummy. Plus, you made me smile. I hope the builders manage to work efficiently and quickly.
Hi Jessica. It helps to rotate the baked goods half-way through so things cook more evenly. Cooking in a construction zone IS ... well not the worst thing that is going on at the moment.
I'm proud of the work we've done here today too! Your cheery attitude made me feel so much better about my own day. I also love the birdsong in the kitchen!
I actually really wish more people would make vids like this. Just mucking about and working it out as they go aloing, not taking it too seriously. I loved this, is what I'm saying.
This video is the relatable content I need right now. The message of this video has been my life for 3 years. Still not got a full kitchen but I at least have cupboards and running water now.
Our kitchen reno overlapped Easter one year... my whole "kitchen" consisted of a kettle, electric frying pan, toaster, and a microwave. Boiled eggs in an electric kettle actually worked surprisingly well!
My mom used to do her canning and cooking on the fire pit because we lived in a shed. The lights were powered by a generator, and the toilet was a large bucket with a toilet seat on it. Luckily I was much too little for the job of emptying that... we'd also wash our hands in a bowl of lukewarm water. And the bathtub was a large metal bucket, and the water was heated up in pots, either on the stove, the oil furnace, or even the fire pit. The furniture was used as walls... then they bought an old mobile home and I got my own room... I was so excited, the first night, to sleep in my own room on a mattress on the floor. And before al that we lived in a bus. But not the tiny home versions you see on youtube. It was literally just a bus with everything but the drivers seat torn out.
We had our upstairs neighbor's fridge leak into our ceiling at the beginning of the pandemic and I haven't had a functional kitchen in 6 months. I am also living in a building site while insurance companies fight. It's about as delightful an experience as you are currently having. Making the pandemic sooooo much better.
You've done it now, Jess. I keep rolling the idea of a 60+ year old perspective channel like you suggested, (and definitely not the stuffy sort) so it shall become. I just keep looking at you, and Stevie, and Jaime, and Shaaba, and all my favorite Tubers and I don't have the lights, I don't have the pretty behind me, editing frankly scares the hell out of me, and all the things I know in my head that it took you a while to accumulate and learn. And then I go on watching you all and not doing my own. I'll let you know when I am ready.

Omg that jacket sounds like perfection, though I would love a more discreet embroidery than the full crest (like a rose or just the words lovely people or something), maybe one version with the crest and one more subtle?
Can relate. I've moved across the country by myself and got married, got a dog, bought a house...have two university degrees...still definitely not an adult.
Please do make that jacket. Your baking perseverance is most laudable! Also, I’m on my mid-30s and, this far, I’m finding that the idea of “becoming an adult” is a total myth.
Loved it! I really enjoyed the fun and freedom (the approach) of the video. It brought a smile to my face! However, I have lived in a building site in the past and hope things are finished as soon as possible.
about to be 32 in about two months, and i can honestly say the only times i really have ever felt like an adult are when something has gone awry and the kid-feeling surfaces of "who do i ask about this? do i go find someone for help?" only to be immediately followed by the realisation that, "oh, no, wait-- i'm it. i'm the adult in this situation, and i might actually have an idea of where to start with this problem? weird." on that note, baked banana things are kind of the best! well done winging it!
Jessica, you are literally the lovliest person I've ever watched on youtube and I love your content! Also, we are impressed by your baking resourcefulness. Marvelous, Marvelous
As a 51 yr old, I can definitely say that imposter syndrome is real. I've decided that this is one of those things that everyone experiences but no one ever admits to. Yay for social conventions!
I was really hoping she would have said "this just goes to show you that you can still make yummy things that warms your heart, even when everything around you is falling apart" bc that would have been my high-key mood and quote for 2020 (and life in general) 😂
Had my 21st birthday yesterday and totally freaked out that I still feel like a teenager! Im so happy to know thats something other people feel even if they’ve done some of the “markers” of adulthood (marriage, buying a house). Far less scary knowing everyone feels they are pretending to be an adult
So I cobbled together a tasty batch of tollhouse cookies in a friend’s parents’ caravan, though I only had a bowl, a spoon, and a pizza crisper pan thing. If I’d known I’d be baking, I would’ve brought supplies, but the sort of sprung it on me. Shockingly, they turned out AMAZING and did not seep down thru the holes in the pizza crisper thing.
I've never thought of slicing bananas on the side of the bowl!! #lifehack #bakinghack #adulthoodexistentialcrisis Thank you Jessica for the great video (as usual)!
I don't know if this is weird but I think this may be one of my favourite videos from you? I don't know if it's the current situation or the fact that it's wildly unscripted, but it almost felt like I was hanging out with a friend. Thank you so much for making it 😭
The bags of cement really tie a room together. You should consider keeping them
They give a nice pop of color
Jessica’s “this is fine” smile getting wider and wider as she takes us through her kitchen that is now a building site/location of a disaster film.

Please do make that jacket. Your baking perseverance is most laudable! Also, I’m on my mid-30s and, this far, I’m finding that the idea of “becoming an adult” is a total myth.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ you always make my day and you’re one of the funniest people I know🤣
This is my favorite of your videos now. I love ramble with a challenge.
Loved it! I really enjoyed the fun and freedom (the approach) of the video. It brought a smile to my face! However, I have lived in a building site in the past and hope things are finished as soon as possible.
how can someone can be so classy, funny, ironic and talented at the same time?
Living for this energy
about to be 32 in about two months, and i can honestly say the only times i really have ever felt like an adult are when something has gone awry and the kid-feeling surfaces of "who do i ask about this? do i go find someone for help?" only to be immediately followed by the realisation that, "oh, no, wait-- i'm it. i'm the adult in this situation, and i might actually have an idea of where to start with this problem? weird." on that note, baked banana things are kind of the best! well done winging it!
Jessica,no matter what craziness happens around you, you’re still absolutely fabulous. 😘
That banana slicing hack was so funny yet I can see myself doing the same! Thanks for the tip. 😀
Jessica, you are literally the lovliest person I've ever watched on youtube and I love your content!
Also, we are impressed by your baking resourcefulness. Marvelous, Marvelous
Oh you are just lovely. So nice to see another EDS lady doing her thing xx
Wow. What you went through to create content this week. Great video and great job! Thank you!
This is the best video to come out of 2020 so far
So I cobbled together a tasty batch of tollhouse cookies in a friend’s parents’ caravan, though I only had a bowl, a spoon, and a pizza crisper pan thing. If I’d known I’d be baking, I would’ve brought supplies, but the sort of sprung it on me. Shockingly, they turned out AMAZING and did not seep down thru the holes in the pizza crisper thing.
She makes me smile so much I’m
Good luck for the end of your building work ! I'm sure it'll be so nice !
*bites into a muffin* ARRRRGH, THAT IS ROCK HARD!....Jess - "oh, yeah, i got a bit confused twixt the flour and the cement, its about a 50/50 mix"
This is a special kind of baking vlog and I loved it thank you
Jessica you make me so happy. Thank you xxx
I've never thought of slicing bananas on the side of the bowl!! #lifehack #bakinghack #adulthoodexistentialcrisis Thank you Jessica for the great video (as usual)!
the ending is priceless.
I don't know if this is weird but I think this may be one of my favourite videos from you? I don't know if it's the current situation or the fact that it's wildly unscripted, but it almost felt like I was hanging out with a friend. Thank you so much for making it 😭
Thank you for keeping it real. Love to you from California.
