daaamn Aaron, i've watched a lot of your videos but this one just shocked me. how much better you can make an image with an edit. please do something like this but updated again.
Oh thank you so much!! I'm doing a pregnancy photo for a friend and the picture she provided me with is a picture she took in her bathroom and it was all yellow from the lighting and it was just horrible quality and this video helped so much!! It's coming together quiet beautifully
In future posts, it would be great if you guys provided a download link to the images you are editing so us noobs could follow along with you. I understand that it may not be possible in all cases but it would be very helpful. Thanks for the great tutorials.
You are just sooo adorable! Great advice, will definitely think about it in editing from now on. What you said about the colours we see in art, was right on to convince me. I just had the image of Van Gogh's 'Bedroom in Arles' come to mind. :)
weird i do not find complimentary colors appealing special the red and green christmas combo . Take a red line and put it next a green one it just look awful , but red/orange and blue tones i just love how it looks and the colors really pop from each other .
Thank goodness I found your youtube channel. I know there are more vid tuts here on youtube, but I think I found yours more helpful, from beginners to advance tutorials. Videos and instructions are specific. THUMBS UP !!! Thanks again ***** :)
Complementary colours are pairs of colours which, when combined in the right proportions, produce white or black. When placed next to each other, they create the strongest contrast and reinforce each other. They are widely used in art and design. The pairs of complementary colours vary depending upon the colour model, and how the colour is made. In painting, which uses subtractive colours, the traditional primary-secondary complementary colour pairs, described since at least the early 18th century, were red-green, yellow-violet, and blue-orange. BUT In the more accurate RGB colour model, used to make colours on computer displays, red, green and blue light are combined at various intensities to make all the other colours. In this system, using additive colours, the complementary pairs are red-cyan, green-magenta, and blue-yellow. In colour printing, another system of subtractive colours, the colours cyan, magenta, yellow and black are used to produce all printed colours; the CMYK-system complementary pairs are the same as in the RGB system: red-cyan, green-magenta, and blue-yellow.
I also thought the shadows on her skin were dirt. But I also thought it added a little uniqueness to the photo! It just needed to be toned down a bit and not SO "dirty."
yeah, i mean, Complementary Colors are quite a big deal in big movie productions, where the Skin Tone allways have to be orange while the background (and the cool image parts) are cyan.
Awesome video, but isn't the correct complementary color of Red actually Cyan? The traditional color model has been abandoned by almost all except painters, especially those of us working in RGB color spaces. (sRGB, Adobe 1998, and ProPhoto)
Phlearn, i generaly enjoy your videos and from a 'learning' standpoint, this is another grat find. however. im glad you included the comment(s) that this vid is more your personal preference, because i think you missed the mark somewhat here. coloring out the 'claw' and the 'growth from her head' was a keen eye but the coloring imho is a bit off and the slight desaturation is amazing in the original. so in this tut, you didnt 'FIX' it. i prefer the original. ;-]
HI Aaron, can you please let me know how many counts of portion do you use? I recently bought a Intuos Draw, for first three days,I find it more comfortable in 5500 right 3094 bottom (force proportion), but I am having a hard time clicking small buttons or icons, even double clicking. Same like you, I don't like my hand going crazy on the whole active area
I was wondering how you would address this long standing feud on the compliment of red... nothing gets art nerds more enraged, except maybe Mac Vs PC when it comes to digital drawing.
we learn opposite color of red is cyan (in PS) .. but u mentioned it is green as per color wheel. why photoshop sliders have cyan as compl.. color for red?
colorizing old black and white pics would be a great tutorial.
That image was great to start off with, but it looks magic after that treatment.
I love how you corrected the little details, but frankly i prefer the original photo.(didn't like the greenish style) It was awesome tho
I feel you. Style is in the eye of the beholder

Great information and technique. Wonderful presentation!
go into the curves blue and red channel and play around. add a little bit blue in the shadows and increase the read overall.
if you go to hue/saturation, reduce the saturation a little and change the hue to a browny/yellow colour

Great video! You should really do something in this, looks like you have some talent for this stuff! ;)
Great tutorial thanks. FYI it's "Complementary Colors" as in complete, not a compliment, as in, this tutorial is great.
Steven Lewis i learnt the importance of correct spelling while learning photoshop. Today, is a good day! (King Leonidas's voice)

How do you sample colors like that while you are on a blank layer?
You mean _complementary_, not complimentary! :p
what photoshop is this? I want to purchase, but I don't know if I can use elements to do this?
This video was shot with Photoshop CS6, however, Aaron now uses Photoshop CC 2017.
I cannot can't over a layer. Why?
you chabged the mood of the image as well)
at first, it was a bit gloomy and dark-wave. and you made its look much more "tender".
For the next vid, please hold off on that hit of speed until you're finished. You can "click and do" faster than I can "find and follow."
Hehe you just got my Subscribed.
How do you apply this when using other colors that arent on the curves tool?
try hue/saturation or selective color :)
Grazie !)
GENIUS!

plz show us how to remove oily shine from face
Before is better than after
Do you have a link to where to obtain that color wheel?
Thanks!
