  • The Gigabyte #M28U + The Playstation 5 = EPIC! Don't sleep on this combo for your #console gaming. Beyond serious about this! Yes the Samsung G70A is consistently on sale, but it doesn't have the calibration tools that this Gigabyte does.
    Either way, watch the video and make your assessment. Don't take my word for it.

    I'm using this monitor with my PS5. It works pretty well so I'm pretty satisfied. I think this monitor is the most affordable 4k monitor to utilize HDMI 2.1 feature in PS5 (for playing in 4k 120fps mode).

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It for sure is. There used to be TV's about this price, but most companies jacked up the price. Not to mention they are massive for any type of competitive gameplay.

      Try using 120 fps on 1080p.. And see if it gets even smoother .. Sometimes it makes a perseption that you are running at 1440 ish. And ghosting is minimun compared with 4k@120fps. Samsung G70A does a great job doing that clean + smooth on 1080p @120. It doent feel a like 1080 but more like 1440 or closer to that..

      @@vince1675 it will drop if adaptive sync is turned On. You have to use the PC mode instead of VA. But now with the use of the PS5 update the console has VRR. turn it On. Leave the monitor on PC mode and keep it in Adaptive Sync. It will upscale to 4k@120hz as smooth as the 1080p@120hz because of the VRR effect, when normally the adaptive sync used to drop to 1080p to get the smoothest 120 fps.

    I was waiting for a hdmi 2.1 monitor assuming they will drop in price but it looks like they will just keep going up in price like everything else. I picked up the 32 inch version and love it. I was looking LG oled c1 but I really like sitting on a desk to game and I wouldn’t be able to do that with a 42 inch screen.

    • @BainCustom

    I'm thinking of getting this monitor or the 32 inch version (m32u) for playing on the ps5... if viewing distance isn't a problem, which of the two would you recommend for the best ps5 experience? is the 4k experience better on the bigger 32 inch screen or the more ppi on the 28 inch version gives a better experience?

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey thanks for asking the question. My personal opinion is that 28 in is a perfect size. I know that's not the common opinion by most, but 32 inches is basically a small tv.
      Because most monitors are edge lit, it can cause more issues with backlight bleed and a contrast that isn't as vibrant on 32 inch as 28 inch. But, not all monitors suffer from this problem (ie. This one).
      So it's all about your preference and gameplay.

      Hey both of you. I have had zero issues with the lower bandwidth. Probably because console does not actually output at a full 48gbps bandwidth that hdmi 2.1 is capable of anyways.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What games are you playing and what is your system? Pc or Console? I am assuming console. 60hz really isn't amazing on most monitors. Try reducing the pixel response rate. Turn off any eco modes on the monitor and make sure the monitor is updated to it's latest firmware. Also try playing in 1080p 120hz instead, it makes a huge difference.

    • @BubBald

      @TechCessory I'm playing mainly on xbox series x, ps5 has this issue but no where near as bad. I cant even find any eco settings for this monitor in the osd? I've tried different power supply's, hdmi, moving the console and monitor out of the room

  • @bretts7037
    @bretts7037 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I'd highly recommend just going for the 32" version M32U for console. The speakers on it are 5 times better than the M28U, and the extra screen size is nice. Pricing is only $70 more here in Canada too. But as an experienced user, is there something I've missed to get better volume out of the internal speakers on the M28U? I'm using it with my PC.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm. It can really be content dependent. For example, I master my audio a bit lower than most music tracks on spotify. So if you compare back to back, you will have to really turn my videos up to hear them. If you want better audio, either change your source (PC, different output port, cables, etc.) or get a set of better speakers.

      The only thing I can help with is saying that there really is no "best" monitor for anything. Maybe at the absolute top level there is. But at the $1000 mark, there are a few other monitors to look at. Viewsonic is a great company for highly accurate color panels. Same with LG's UIltrafine. Asus is in the same league but that monitor is more of a gaming monitor than editing monitor.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if you had a good VA panel than the colors will seem a bit different on this guy. Have you tried turning up the contrast rather than the brightness to see if that helps? I'm sure you have, I just figured I would ask.
      I can relate though, I have ran into a few monitors where no matter what I do it just seems off to me.

      Yeah i had a pretty good MSI with VA Panel, and i heard IPS is best.
      So i wanted to switch and get 4k on top for the PS5 games comming up.
      Yea i had Contrast at 80, and once even more, it looked nice actullay, but at some point too glary/washed out. And i heard that if you set the contrast too high, the monitor may not survive long. 😅 🤷‍♂️
      I actually like this Monitor alot, just if the colours would be as popping as on the MSI with the right amount of Brightness, it would probably be the best.
      Also, 1080p looks worse than on my MSI on Ps5, but when i switch to 4K it looks awesome ofcourse, really weird haha.
      I will try the local Dimming, i didnt use it till now, i thought it would "dim" even more and i wanted more brightness, so i didnt trust it haha 😂

      Is the high performance mode turned on in the PS5 settings? also, you may need to turn off some VRR settings to get 120hz to properly engage on the PS5. There is sometimes a conflict with VRR and refresh rate. Not always, but it's possible. I would also make sure HDR is turned off, it shouldn't effect the 120hz, but it could and is semi-useless in 90% of scenarios.

      You can't really compare both as the UR55 is only a 4k 60hz with no HDMI 2.1 while the other one is a 4k 144hz with HDMI 2.1s It's half the price for a reason. If you want use the full benefits of the Xbox and PS5 then you need a 2.1 with a higher refresh rate. It's also one of the cheaper 4k 144hz with HDMI 2.1.

      Semi normal. Your link might get filtered out due to YT algorithm, but it's essentially backlight bleed. Unfortunately it's baked into the cake on this monitor when the screen is black.
