    It’s worth noting the Series X, or S for that matter, will ONLY support HDR if your monitor/tv accepts a 4K signal. Some 1080p or 1440p screens will accept 4K input and downsample to 1080p, in which case HDR will work. Just giving you guys a heads up because there’s a large number of HDR ready 1080p and 1440p screens out there.

    Great points. Affordability is important and tech prices drop as the tech becomes more widely available. Also your point on most games not doing 4K 120 or even 4k 60 in some cases is important. Starfield, one of the biggest games of the year, is only doing 4k 30 so I guess it kinda shows how challenging it is for devs to ship 4k 60 or 120 games right now even with the latest gen.

      I have a PC with a Rtx 4070 and Ryzen 9 which is way better than an rx 6800 and it can barely run the game at 4k 40fps at high settings so what you’re saying just isn’t true.
      So if it can’t even do a native 4K 60fps then a $1000 PC definitely can’t especially a prebuilt one since that’s a more fair comparison since consoles are prebuilt.
      A PS5 can run that game at 1440p 60fps easily and it’s only $400 compared to the price of an equivalent PC and I would know because I have both a PC and PS5

    Nah. As someone who's had 4k and 1440p monitors I have to disagree with this. Both the Series X and the PS5 output a 4k image and so buying a 1440p monitor is a massive waste of the hardware. You said it yourself, the list of 120hz games on the consoles is limited so buying any monitor that can output 120hz is a waste of money. Get a monitor that matches what the consoles are actually outputting, which is 4k at 60fps for the majority of the games. It's probably cheaper to get a 4k 60hz tv as they have Dolby Vision support, monitors don't. If you're playing from a desk then just get a cheap 4k 60hz monitor.

    • @tony_elemento
      @tony_elemento 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      PS5 doesnt output 4K 60fps, its either 1440p 60 fps or 4K 30 fps. If you have a 120 hz monitor, ps5 will output 1800p-4K at 40 fps depending on the game. So buying a 1440p 120 hz monitor seems a better idea if you prefer fps over graphics, and with the balance mode even 1440p will look amazing at 40 fps

      Sorry to rant but.. the “k” refers to the horizontal resolution. So in the case 3840x2160, the 3840 rounds up to 4000 or “4k”
      So when you say “2k” you’re referring to 1920x1080. As the 1920 rounds up nicely to 2000. Which I’m sure is not what you mean, you probably mean 1440p, which is 2560x1440, not 2k. More like 2.5k.

I then traded my monitor with someone that had a gigabyte m32uC monitor. It has 24gps HDMI 2.1 the PS5 doesn't support 48gps HDMI 2.1 so this monitor was perfect for the ps5 and the Xbox series X/S no regrets. The colors look ridiculous. My tv has a high refresh rate of 120hz but no matter what settings I used I couldn't get the 120hz on any of the games that supported 120 only if I used an edid emulator plug and dropped the resolution to 1080p but gaming at 1080p on a 75inch tv with next gen consoles and only HDMI 2.0 well you tend to see it foggy. My tv was meant for sport viewing not gaming. The PS4 ps3 n Xbox One and steam deck look great on it but my ps4 pro n ps5 looked washed out. Get the gigabyte M32UC or flat. I've seen them used and refurbished on Amazon for as low as $300 and it's a $600 monitor. Don't fkn listen to all TH-camr. You have a good point but now with the PS5 pro most "enhanced games" are running at native or upscaled 4K. We really dont get a choice on the resolution. On my PC I can lower the resolution and gain performace, however on my PS5 pro I'm limited to modes that are trying to output the game a 2160p (4K) and on my 1440p monitor I cannot see 4K on it.
    Some games on the PS5 pro are running a 4K (give or take some upscaling) at 90 - 120fps. Which is insane. Unfortunately, there are no performance modes for 1440p on the PS5 pro, and I wish there was. So right now i'd highly recommend a 4K display to anyone that has a PS5 pro, and to make double sure that it has HDMI 2.1 for the VRR support.
    The base PS5 is fine on a 1440p display, because most of the performance modes are running a 1440p (give or take). Whereas most of the performace modes on the PS5 pro are trying to output the game at 4K. you lose alot of performance, and on a lower resolution display you won't see the some of the benefits of having better hardware, such as the game running at a higher resolution.

    What about VRR which is now available on PS5 and Xbox? For it to work, you need HDMI 2.1. 1440p monitors don’t use 2.1 because they don’t need as much bandwidth. So you can have a VRR/freesync monitor and be completely unable to use it. You can turn it on and the console will say VRR is activated. But it’s not really working.

    Guys, players playing on both 1080p Benq Zowie XL2546K and 4K Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 were getting into iridescent (top 1% of gamers in ranked) in CoD MW3. If you want 4K, you are not lacking anything, the pro speed is there. Plus, if you record videos for TH-cam, with a 4K monitor you have 4K output from your PS5, meaning you can capture 4K footage. Today, the 4K monitor Alienware AW3225QF is by a tiny bit faster than Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 (you can watch some FPS comparison with fast movement, set playback speed to 0.25, and you will barely notice this, and definitely not on every scene), and I'm still researching if there are even better ones for the purpose of my channel. So, do as you please, I am just a bit annoyed by this commanding title, but still a geat way to start engagement in the comments. 😉

    Here's a piece of advice from someone with a Series X, on a 50 inch 60Hz 4k TV.
    Make the upgrade to a monitor or TV that supports 120Hz at 4K.
    It's how you get 120fps at 4K, thus taking advantage of your console's max frame rate.

    • @DatboiDemonX

      I'm still trying to find the right monitor for 4k 120Hz myself. But there's a list of specs I want.
      4k support (Series X has 4k)
      0ms or 0.03ms response time (response time matters in gaming)
      120Hz (for 120fps obviously)
      28 or 30 inch display

      No. Any non-integer resolution scaling will make the image blurry. Being unable to make pixel-perfect resizing, it will have to stretch some pixels in unintended ways to make it fit. You're almost better off with a 1080p image on a 1080p screen then a 1440p image on a 4K screen. Almost...

    • @TechAuditTV
      @TechAuditTV  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think it comes down to how you are going to use the monitor and what you play. Obviously if you are using this monitor for other stuff like design, video, watching movies then the 4K element has more of a payoff, but all that stuff will never go over 60fps anyway. So it really comes down to what you play. There are VERY few games that support 4K above 60fps. That being said, there may be games you play where you don't care about having a high refresh rate, you just want to play it in 4K. So if you are the type of player that likes to bounce between a slow paced game at 4K/60fps and then play something like Call of Duty at 1440p/120fps then an HDMI 2.1 monitor makes a lot more sense.

I tried and experience stuttery / choppy frame rate issues when playing warzone on both consoles. You need a 4k monitor with hdmi 2.1 and VRR if you want a buttery smooth gameplay and amazing graphics. Sorry dude but your conclusion sucks. And why wait? As a pc, Xbox sx and PS5 owner. I can wholeheartedly say that the main reason I enjoyed RDR2 on the Xbox sx was due to the mzing texture packs and frame rate at 4k.
    Regardless of a game using 4k textures in their games, you will see a big difference between running a console game on 1080, 1440 and 4k. Therefore, 4k is still a pretty good option for consoles. That's my experience. Side note: the Xbox sx has better texture packs and runs on higher FPS than the PS5 on most games.

But most PS5 games can't out put native 4k, and the upscaling is lacking with some games. PSSR has a ways to go before it gets better. So 1440p is easier for PSSR to upscal to. And the 1ms 180hz is great as well. Alan Wake 2 looks awesome and crisp. The ips color looks great as well.
