    I'm at studen t at UCSB hoping to get some surf fishing in. Do you know any spots because I know there are protected areas so I'm afriad to go to the wrong spots. What's biting right now and what's some nice gems to fish at?

    Well, you're fishing in front of my property. My house is just a bit south of the slough. If you want to get big fish you have to go out off shore right near the Gas Company property line and into the kelp beds.

      @@MarkSilva-il5sr No not at all. A lot of people fish up and down that stretch of the beach me included. But it can be tough with the kelp and most of the time all there is to catch there is stingrays or sand sharks. I was just saying that the best spot in that area is further out. Thats where you can get some sand bass, sculpin and the occasional halibut. A lot of local guys fish there.

      Thinking of going out there on the pier. I’m about 1.5hrs north of Goleta. Any big sharks coming out of there recently? All I’m catching is 3-4ft dog sharks

    • @outabeat
      @outabeat ปีที่แล้ว

      @@7ThrillFishing Yeah, I"m not current on what is biting off the pier. We do get some sharks every once and awhile but they have a long way to go to get to the bay where the pier is. Unless you're on the pier fishing isn't allowed inside the invisible property line of the gas company property. It's like a habitat or something. But there are guys that go right up to that line and cast. And they get sand bass, calicos, sculpin and sometimes a halibut (but most of the halibut aren't keepers). The last time I was out there we did really good. I was there this past weekend and there were not lobster pots up that way, which was weird. Give it a shot though. When the weather is up there are no stingrays. But when it's flat they're all over the place.

    Did you park all way back by the pier and walk all way down there?

    • @talljeffkayakfishing4527
      @talljeffkayakfishing4527  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can go almost to the lagoon waterway, then walk across the waterway depending on tide. Goleta Beach is one of the few free parking beaches. Good luck out there, some good halibut to be caught this time of the year.

    What rod and reel setup are you using

    • @talljeffkayakfishing4527
      @talljeffkayakfishing4527  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an ugly stick inshore rod combo. I now use different equipment when fishing like this. For dropshot double looper fishing from shore i now use a nice bass rod with a penn battle 2 3000 size.
