    Summerland had dozens of oil derricks , the wooden ones , back in the day. Carp is my hometown of 61 years and I will never leave, 5 th generation. I just ordered my first minelab detector and am excited to start hunting my hometown. The name Carpenteria , translates to carpenter shop when the Spanish conquistadors came across Chumash natives building thier “ tomos or canoe if you will , friar Junipero Serra named it San Roque at first , the next conquistador renamed it Carpinteria . Thanks for plugging our town.✨☀️

    It looked like a great day to me 😊 I lived in Florida for 22 years until my husband passed. My son and I moved back to our home town in New Jersey burrrr. I am looking for some warmth, but have to wait at least 7 months for that. So any day on the beach is fantastic. Have a wonderful weekend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    That summerland beach hunt is about what i experience at the beaches in Ventura as far as targets go. A few coins here and there but mostly trash. I think I’m screwed for detecting over here. I’ve been to about 5 locations and all are the same.

    • @MontereyMagnetMan
      @MontereyMagnetMan  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s what I hear about that area. Although a viewer from the area sent me some photos of gold that he found, so it is out there. I think you’ll have better luck in the winter after some storms. That’s the vibe I get from the beach structure there

    Yeah, to fit the CKG titanium the holes should be about 4 inches at least.

  • @daviesmia
    @daviesmia ปีที่แล้ว +4

    For decades, Summerland Beach has suffered from a sticky plague: the constant seepage of oil from over 200 offshore wellheads, and some is natural seepage, the local Chumash Tribe used the tar to waterproof their fishing canoes

    • @MontereyMagnetMan

    Was your CKG handle pree drilled ? I ordered 2 so far and the predrilled holes are in the wrong place. I tried to get one without the hole and couldn't.

    • @MontereyMagnetMan
      @MontereyMagnetMan  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s odd, mine were pre drilled. I have the 1 piece handle, not sure if it’s different on the 2 piece travel handle. I’d see if they can send you a replacement.

    • @advisingconsumer599
      @advisingconsumer599 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MontereyMagnetMan I do have the one piece handel's the holes are predrilled but to fit all the way in they need to be about 4" from the bottom up.

    Nice video again, the big iron round thing is from a fishing reel. It is the top of the reel to ajust your drag.

  • @Johnny_Mac_
    @Johnny_Mac_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Dan, i recently got the 900 and was using in the surf and noticed it was chattery as. Do you need to lower sensitivity or up the iron bias to run quietly? What settings do you run in the surf?

    • @MontereyMagnetMan
      @MontereyMagnetMan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I run mine on Beach 2 at around 20-22 sensitivity in good conditions, around 15-18 if there’s black sand. I have my iron bias at 7 currently, recovery speed 6 and it’s pretty stable. The chatter could be from waves hitting the coil cable if it’s loose at the bottom. I’ve heard of that happening before too
