    Growing up we had a local raven who would ring like all the local telephones. He would ring, wait for people to go inside to answer the phone, and see if there was any food around!
    My Meyer's parrot was introduced to a clicker the day after he came home. He is 10 years old and wonderful, he loves training but he's quite cheeky. After first trying to steal the clicker so he could click it and get a treat, he figured Why not cut out the middle man, so he just mimics the sound of the clicker himself 😅😂 when im asking for a new behavior and he feels he's tried hard enough he will click and wait for a treat
    Great Work Taylor, your patience will pay off tenfold ❤️

    Is Taylor just in charge of avian care, or does she also take care of tbe nonavian residents at Animal Wonders? I'm curious because she always apears with the birds.
    P.S. I love the videos featuring Taylor she has such a warm and fun vibe in front of the camera.

    • @animalwondersmontana
      @animalwondersmontana  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Oh, I can see why you'd ask that. Taylor feeds and cleans all of the animals and works with almost all of them. The experiences she's shared in her videos are of some of the most prominent training adventures she's been on. Why all birds? We have quite a lot of birds and some of them require a devoted trainer that just focuses on them and it's sometimes best to have one trainer per bird. Taylor took on the task of training and bonding with Archie the Amazon parrot, Scarlet the macaw, and Luka the raven. This worked well since Jessi had already bonded with Zoe and Chongo the Amazon parrots, Joy the macaw, and Rook the raven. It also works great because this way all the animals get their own person and no matter which wildlife educator is hosting a program, there's always an individual animal that can represent that group of birds.

    • @0MoTheG
      @0MoTheG 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder why. Usually intelligence comes with curiosity. Unlike doves that might have a history of genetic domestication city dwelling ravens keep 10' distance.

    • @MiroslavHundak
      @MiroslavHundak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0MoTheG I think your question may contain an answer. Undomesticated social animals are usually extremely careful and easily get anxious. For example wolves Vs dogs. Wolves have almost 30% larger brain, for same body size, which is probably why they are very careful about approaching unknown individuals. I'm guessing ravens might reason in similar way.

      There's always a reason for animals to fight and most often it's because they're competing for resources. This can be food, mates, territory, attention, or even just the best seat in the house. You'll need to figure out what they are fighting for and adjust their care to ensure their needs are addressed. Good luck!

      There's actually a ton of documentation that goes into caring for the animals and running a nonprofit. We were able to update our animal care software system, build more thorough and streamlined intern and volunteer packets, and create a smoother donor experience that's easier for us to track and use for communicating with our donors. Since all of our public presentations were cancelled due to the pandemic and school closures we could reallocate the time put into shows and use it for our infrastructure. 🙂
