First 2 Iron Maiden albums are my favorite. I bought both their first albums in 1981 and was blown away. A True Metal legend is gone, but not forgotten. Thanks Paul. RIP.
I met Paul Di'anno exactly 30 years ago to this very day. Back in 1994, I was a drum tech for a band out of the bay area called Vicious Rumors. We signed on to do a 6 week tour through Europe called "The Ultimate Power Force Tour". The band were Metal Church, Vicious Rumors, Paul's band "Killers" and Zodiac Mindwarp. The tour started on October 22,1994 but we flew into Amsterdam the day before the tour started. That's when I met Paul and the rest of the guys in his band. I didn't know it at the time but both band and crew members of V.R. and Killers were about to spend every waking moment for the next 6 weeks together. We all lived on a double decker tour bus touring Europe and having an absolute blast! Paul was a wild man but had a heart of gold. Being a big Maiden fan, I was a bit in aww of him. But he was always so cool to me. We had some really great sober and "unsober" times. Dare I say by the end of the tour, I could honestly say Paul Di'anno was my friend. I will never forget that final day when at the airport Paul and I hugged each other and said "I love your brother"! That's a hug I can still feel to to this very sad day. Rest In Peace my friend. Sadly, we have now lost the frontmen for 3 of the 4 bands on that tour. Carl Albert (Vicious Rumors) Mike Howe (Metal Church) and Paul Di'anno (Killers).
Very cool, dude was actually a damn good vocalist, always hurt me that he didn't bounce back straight away, he, Dennis Stratton, Clive could have created a Killer heavy metal band, and in fact they attempted a band called Gog-Magog which included Janick Gers, oddly enough, it would have worked out if they didn't choose that goofy band name...should have just called themselves Killers...alas...RIP Paul Di'anno ~ Up The Irons for Paul!
It's just too cringe, and any story like this is a fan fiction story, not an employee story. Employees work, if ur not working ur wasting someone else's money, and all the millions of solely men who didn't work but just chilled with the band and got paid for doing nothing... You are a dime a dozen as that was the fantasy, never reality.
@@rmac3217 Thank you for your comment rmac3217. In response, all I can say is that It genuinely makes me sad to know that you have to live on this earth with yourself 24/7. What a truly pathetic existence! Best of luck to you.
Gonna go and blast WRATHCHILD loud and proud in memory of Paul. In fact I'm gonna go blast the first two Maiden albums which are 2 of GREATEST additions to what became heavy metal. "CUZ I'M A..... WRATHCHILD!"
A buddy of mine worked at Capitol Records and brought home that first Iron Maiden record. It was Paul Di'Anno's voice that initially drew me in. RIP Paul Di'Anno.
I listened to both the iron maiden and killers album today randomly and sang them out loud while cleaning my house lol. Never knew he died until now very strange how I chose to listen to them as I've not thought about them in many years.....rip Paul
1980, i was 12. I walked the ditches of our town, back lanes, walked the highway to gather pop, beer bottles, aluminum cans, any recycle I could find. 5 and 10 cents at a time, I came up with the $10 to buy the first iron Maiden album with Paul Di'Anno, my very first album. In 2007 Paul played in our city and i got to tell him that to his face.
Thanks for this great eulogy. As an Iron Maiden fan, this means a lot to me. I still listen to the music that he made not only in Iron Maiden, but also in his solo albums. In spite of how underrated he was, he inspired and influenced so many other artists and people are now just realizing this in the wake of his passing. Keep on rocking, brother. Heaven has gained another great.
I met him once and he had a great sense of humour and was really nice talking to. I loved Iron Maidens first three albums and Paul sang on the first two. You will be greatly missed by a lot of fans! 💜
Man those first two Maiden albums are absolutely sacred and colored so much of my life back then. He was only 66 years old too? Damn. Rest in Peace man and thank you. Cue: Strange World.
Saw Paul with my son at the prince bandroom in at st kilda Melbourne earlier this year. I’m so grateful I got to see him play . The place was bouncing when he did’ phantom of the opera’. Rest in peace, Paul, you are a legend.
Bruce and the band had a moment of silence for Paul this evening in St Paul, MN.. Very nice things said and well wishes to his time here and now to his spirt. R.I.P. Paul.
Killers was the first Metal Album I ever heard. I borrowed it from a friend. It changed my life. It was like discovering oxygen for the first time. I had to get all the metal in the world after that. I was 16, 41 years ago. I am lifting a Kentucky Bourbon and remembering Pail Di'Anno .
This bothered me all day today after hearing about it last night. I loved those first 2 albums as my oldest brother Bill got me into Maiden with those albums back in the mid 80s when I was just 9 or 10 years old. RIP Paul and RIP to my bro Bill. If there is a heaven hopefully my bro gets to meet his hero Paul Di'Anno.
Just played my wife Strange world with Paul singing, she loved it "what an amazing singer" Then played her Peace of Mind- she said he's got a great voice but Paul was much better. I personnel think Paul's voice on Iron Maidens first album is perfect -punk, metal and full of soul touched by Angels with some demon in there. Perfect metal singer
I always loved his bands he fronted. Maiden or Battlezone to all his others he graced us with. Just a shame to lose another staple from my teen years that I listened to back then and still do today. Just last week i was cranking Children of Madness by Battlezone on my speakers and Killers from Iron Maiden back to back. Rest In Peace brother..
Still and forever my favorite Maiden vocalist. I remember buying a Maiden concert compilation as a kid and expected to see Dickinson, but was blown away when I saw Di’Anno on stage.
Paul. You were one of my heroes along with Bonn Scott and Peter Steele. For me, as a Metal / Punk you were somebody I looked up to. I even dress like Paul, the black denim, the leather and the studded belts. I hope you have found peace and broken chains from your health problems. I will always treasure your albums. Hopefully one day we can meet and sing together in a better place.

I literally yelled Noooo when I read the news!!
