"Youth Initiated Mentoring: What it is and How it Can Transform the Mentoring Process"

On January 23rd, 2024, Dr. Renée Spencer (She/Her), Professor at Boston University School of Social Work, presented as part of our Lunch & Learn Series.
In her presentation, Dr. Spencer discussed how Youth-initiated mentoring (YIM) is an innovative approach wherein programs work with youth to identify adults within their existing social networks to serve as their mentors in the formal program. This presentation introduces the concept of YIM and presents research and practice lessons learned.
