Wonderful spots and that tent served it's purpose well.. nice and light too. Your dishes always look enticing, no racing home to eat some 'real meals'. you have it all Justin.
I smashed the like button when you landed the walleye! I wanted to be there. I'm back from my 274 mile section hike of the Appalachian Trail, but am not yet fully retired, so it's back to the daily drudgery. I want to do a canoe and fishing trip, but work has got me shackled to my tool bench 😕. Soon, I hope, but the other guys are just glad that I'm back to help them get their work done.
How was your trip !? Were the bugs insane ? It must be hard to get back into the grind after an experience like that. Now that you are back , don't work too hard.
@@ItsGoodintheWoods Sorry about the late reply. The trip was physically demanding beyond what I remember of Georgia, because I'm older and the last two times I hiked the Georgia section were in March (2006 and 2015) and it was hot in April/May! The climb up into North Carolina from Georgia in a raging thunderstorm at over 4,000 feet was memorable, as was The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, with so much hiking between 5,000 and 6,600 feet and vegetation much like the White Mountains (4,000 ft. and below). The bugs didn't get bad until NC, when the black flies would descend upon me whenever I tried to filter water. They were especially bad on Max Patch, the famous bald mountain north of the Smokies. Horse flies occasionally circled me but rarely landed, and when they did, they paid the ultimate price. Though the hike was short compared to a Thruhike, I succeeded in getting a good feel of what a thruhike entails. I was often just a step ahead of overuse injuries, a major reason why hopeful thruhikers are forced off the trail. My calves, knees, ankles, and feet hurt every day, but, as the miles piled on, I felt myself becoming stronger and more capable.
Excellent trip dude's looks outstanding eats drinks and chilling can't beat it, that Pomoly tent is super sweet!! I don't normally watch Pomoly products because of there "posterboy" aka Mike Tyson.... 😆 Post Malone?? 😁✊🔥
For sure man! This was a good one. A real fun time. This Pomoly tent is sweet dude. Real impressed so far. I have seen Post Malone play Nirvana songs and it's awesome!
Excellent. Lip hooked for the perfect opportunity to catch and release, good job. I'm a virgin to anything below the Westminster bridge other than fishing for Stripers at the mouth once a hundred years ago. Another great vid bud
This section of the river is very similar to what you know. But the last few miles gets heavy with boat traffic. That fish was an awesome catch ! An honor to catch
I've wanted to try those Greenbelly meals. Walleye is the fish of choice in South Dakota but I was raised on panfish. Yum!! Looked like a good time Justin!
Those Greenbelly meals are good dude. For what they are....real good. But I know you are a picky eater...so....lol. This is the third one I have had, been skeptical of each one....and each one has surprised me. I have 2 more flavors to get through...then I am doing a review. This was a blast man! Super fun time. If you ever want to come out this way give me a shout. Have a great weekend dude
Man what a fantastic time!! I'm not sure your fishing laws....but that wally should qualify🤣🤣. Made me want to get a line wet. Good to see you out and about my brother.
Such an awesome fish ! You should get on that river man. It has a lot to offer. I can't speak for all of it ( yet) But Everything from Sumners fall to Hinsdale is real nice. Thanks for watching!
Dude I am pretty jealous of your guys's big slow moving Rivers. I love the white water but man it would be cool to be able to just Cruise with a bunch of stuff! This looks like a lot of fun man. Sorry it took me so long to get here I'm getting all caught up.
This is a fun river. It's a whole different animal in her northern reaches though....I'll be getting to that. No need for apologies my dude. Life happens
Cool trip, must be nice scenery and peaceful. A canoe opens up a few things compared to a backpack, you can go with a little more style. Thanks for the info, I need to get a ride up there and cruise that river back to Ling Island 🤡😊❤️🇺🇸
That is exactly why I enjoy canoe trips. You can pack for a real good time. This is a fun river to explore. I'm not sure about what it's like going through Mass and Connecticut though. I'd love to do the whole river someday.
Dude, this was wicked well done ! LOL ! Seriously, your editing skills are spot on man. What a blast ! Good food, good drink, good friends ! It’s always a pleasure sharing a campfire with you man ! Until next time ! Peace ✌️
I was thinking the same as some others. How big do Wallies need to be up there...it looked plenty big...and 'eatable' That tent is awesome, never even heard of that company - I could use one of those down here in the Carolinas.
Probably should have eaten it. We had so much food with us........but we should have eaten it LOL . 16"-18" can not be taken. I have to say that I was very impressed with this tent. I am looking forward to using it more. Check it out man. Pomoly makes a lot of tents. Most of them are heavy though. This is their lightest tent to date. I like it a lot.
Nice trip, food was on point!! How are you liking the Wenonah? What was the reason for not keeping the walleye again? Just wondering what you had said. Not having a tape?
This is my older Wenonah..(Fusion) .I have had it for over a year now. Left the new one (Wilderness) at home for this trip. I let the walleye go for 2 reasons, 1, You can not keep a walleye between 16" -18" , and we didn't have a tape to measure it. 2 , as yo saw, we had a ton of food, so I didn't see the need to kill it. I feel like I did the right thing, but I would have liked to eat it.
@@ItsGoodintheWoods didn't know you had 2! Good reasons on letting the walleye go. I'm always learning and didn't know about that 16-18" rule. Thanks for sharing bro!
@@BackcountryPaddler I just picked up the Kevlar Wilderness this spring! That thing is sweet, but the Fusion was the better vessel for this trip. The rules are probably different everywhere. Make sure to check all your local laws before you take a fish on video.
I’m definitely doing this in the fall. Are the camp sites first come first serve or do you need a permit or call ahead to use them along the river? Great vid...
Could you spare us a few facts- date? what the temp was like water and air? Looks very nice. No arrows coming from shore since 1790. what its the depth range generally.
It was a very hot weekend. Temps in the high 80's low 90's. The depth of this river fluctuates a lot. It is a 400 mile river that goes through many changes along its way.
Beeee CAREFULLL about looking those fish in the mouth... YOU could be the 'next toad'... Not to mention that a whale just swallowed a diver whole... but did spit him out - he's OK. (LUCKY!!!) Jerry
Justin, WOW!, on the river, good fishing, good weather, drinking some Sam & PBR, but the best part is being with good People, cheers.
You nailed it man! Pretty much sums it up! This was a fun one
Awesome video my friend. I grew up on the long Island sound. Brought back some fond memories. Thank you for all that you do
It's a small world my friend ! Glad to have a hand in stirring up some memories. I hope all is well

Next time you don't have a tape measure use a dollar bill. It's 6" long. You can get a really good idea of how long it is with that.

It'd be nice if you could easily paddle upstream and get further away from civilization instead of heading into it! 😁👍🌿
You absolutely could. It's a wide, slow moving river on its lower portions. It would be tough though. Bit by bit I will get this whole river.
