I picked one of these up and used it over the weekend. I had a heck of a time getting a good pitch with it. Nobody else seems to have a video on this thing, not sure what I was doing wrong. It did well in the light rain and bugs that we were dealing with. Might have sold a couple more to the guys I was with!
One of the only things that makes camping in the Northeast a PIA are Mosquitos and Black Flies. Looks like a good budget option for a bug free zone when out there on a canoe trip. Good review Justin looking, forward to seeing it in action.
Just picked one of these up. It sets up easy, plenty of room, and definitely keeps the black flies and gnats out. We'll be taking it along on our canoe campouts. Thanks for the great suggestion!
@@ItsGoodintheWoods We've used this now on canoe trips to Hoel, Saranac and Follensby so far. Probably the best piece of gear I've purchased in many years of camping & climbing. It's a life-saver between May and June here in the ADKs. Thanks again for the tip!
I bought one last winter after deciding to have my bad knee replaced. Six weeks in and a long way to go. I used this tarp on a winter vacation to Florida. The stitching was better on mine.
funny, I've been searching for this kind of set up(for a community tarp/bug shelter), and a larger tarp as a rain fly to go with it. I dont know why aqua quest and DD do not offer this kind of product to go with their tarps??? I have found a few online but haven't felt like pulling the trigger on any of them. This is a nice product! 👍👍
I agree, bugs SUCK!! Note: If it was bug season, lots of bugs can hide in those dead leaves. If I was camping, I would try to clear them out from the inside.
Thank you for sharing this find! Looks very promising. And l I hope you’ll have an opportunity to do a “Review Part Deux” (🤣) after a camp in the rain. Appreciate the time you put into posting this. Best to you from Indiana!
Great review and just in time for bug season haha. You helped me make my decision on whether to buy this or the eureka, the selling point was that the price and that it's double the rain proofing/resistance. Just purchased now and can't wait to use it on my next trip, my daughter will appreciate it more than I because the bugs like her better lol.
I have not had a chance to use it yet. I have brought it on 2 multi day trips, bugs haven't been bad enough for me to set it up yet. The next time it rains I will set it up.
Very interesting bug net tarp thermacells work well and you can refill the butane yourself if you are handy. And the actual chemical pads last alot longer then advertised in my experience. When is bug season exactly? I'll be in NH and Maine next week!
Bug season in New Hampshire and Maine, pretty much May to July ! Although I have been on countless canoe camping trips in Maine in June and most of those trips, bugs were a non issue, good luck !
Bug season is about to start any day now. I am sure I'll end up with a thermacell at some point. Have fun in NH and Maine. I would try and meet up with you, but my daughter is on vacation next week.
@ItsGoodintheWoods Dude it would be a treat to meet they It's Good In The woods! No worries I'll be back, no real plans yet accept 5 nights just winging it like we do.
Looks really nice, a great option. I have the No Bug Zone and although it’s awesome, it is heavy and a bit pricey. I have 4 Eureka tents in total and they are very well built I must say. A shame the went belly up. Curious how you feel about this after a season of use. Cheers!
Eureka made great products. I have had 4 of them in the past. Unfortunately it seems they had no interest in making modern lightweight tents. I emailed them multiple times about making lighter versions of their tents with modern lightweight fabrics. Not once did I get a response of any sort. I didn't get the no bug zone for the reasons you mentioned. This product seemed like a no brainer to me. It was an easy choice to make. It will be interesting to see how well it performs and holds up over time. I will keep you posted. Thanks for watching
How did this shelter work out for you this season? Any updates? I have the Eureka version but am looking for something lighter. BTW, I enjoy your videos and am a subscriber, cheers!
@@ItsGoodintheWoods will do. I plan on using it with my Dutchware Chameleon and as a ground dweller was well. Are you going to hit the seams with a sealer to be sure?

Agreed. Those little blood suckers can really put a damper on things. Hopefully this bug room helps......fingers crossed....

Awesome Brother
Thank you very much for this.
This would be perfect to use with my Current Tegimen Tent inside which has no protection from bugs.
Nice find. If it works only a couple of seasons it would still be worth it at that price point. Take care, Al
That is exactly how I feel about it. If I can get a couple years out of it........we will see
Thanks for posting this video! I just picked one up for $71 on Prime Days, and can’t wait to get out and use it.
Score! A worthy investment

I am glad to hear the stitching is better on yours. Good luck with your knee. I hope you get back out there soon
Sweet video bro makes me wanna get out there now. Great looking set up hope you get to enjoy it those black flies are a pain in ma ass 👍👊
Those insects can be brutal. Hopefully this set up helps.....
I like the attention to the data … great analysis on your channel. Not sure I’d use the product but I like the review.
I appreciate that! Thank you

I am still pleased with this product. I suspect other companies will start producing similar products soon. It is a great bit of kit
Nice! Definitely let us know once you put this thing through the paces. Bugs are the worst!

Nice! Hope it works out. It's cool that it's hex shaped for use as a hammock tarp. Looks like a lot of living space under there.

This would make a great cover to put over a small tent on the inside. Extra bug protection like an air lock!
That is a great idea! I'm not sure I would have thought of that. Thank you for sharing.
I always use a net. Even bats can be a bother. Good video.
Interesting. I have never had a bat bother me
I hear you man....I was out hiking by the River this past week and the black flies are starting...be interested to see how it works out...
Yep, they are starting here as well. I will keep you posted

Nice one mate, I loved the eureka bug tarps but difficult to come by in the uk.
Eureka makes (made) good stuff. Sad to see them go under
They didn't. They closed their camping gear division
I think that would be perfect for Kayak camping. A place to hangout before you build a campfire.
100% my thoughts exactly brother!
A bug free zone to cook, eat & hangout when ur not hiding out in the smoke zone
Time will tell!
I hope it works out! 🤞
